Those cups are called Liberty Blue and were sold in 1976 for the U.S. Bicentennial. They were only sold in Grand Union grocery stores where you could buy a different piece every week. I got married in 1976 and everyone was buying them for me. I had full service for 20 and every accessory including the soup tureen and place holders. I gave them to my daughter when she got married.

More great finds. My grandmother use to collect all kinds of decanters and fill them with water. She would set them among her groups of indoor plants. When she needed to water them she just opened a decanter and took care of the plant without having to go to the kitchen for a container of water. She also used one for water n the fridge. Thanks again for filming this for us .The mouthwash idea is a great one. You sound much better. Hope you feel well now.

Hi, Julie! I believe that decanter is well over 70 years old. My family had a set of those decanters in a bar cart as long as I can remember as a child. They’re quite classic. Love your Thriftmas videos!! Merry Christmas! 🌲🤗❄️

🎉🎉the blue and white cups are Liberty Blue. I collect those pieces there is a collector book too. They are from the 1970s the pieces were available when you buy groceries you could pick out a piece.

Love the card party bowl, and no, you are not alone; my tissue boxes are all kept out of sight but within easy reach for those tear-jerker commercials.

The Kleenex cover is necessary ! I always say “ that is god’s reason for making folks make them!” Love all Kleenex covers.

No Julie those cups are Liberty. They were given away and sold in grocery stores and some banks back in the 70’s and 80’s. I use the decanter for dish soap and I get many compliments on how pretty it is and none ever would think of doing that.

I would have grabbed that wicker tissue box cover! I hate most of the designs on the tissue boxes these days! I love those blue cups. I need to find a way to incorporate those colors into my decor!

Hi Julie! Trust me, you are not alone about the tissues. I always like to have a box cover that I usually make to go with the room's decor. I think the bowl with the card decoration would go great to hold popcorn or other treats in on family game or movie nights.

Love that you found those Liberty blue teacups. I am Dutch and in my home country (The Netherlands), I work as a highschool English teacher (English as a second language). We also educate our students about British and American culture. Doing research for my lessons on the American revolution, sparked my obsession for this remarkable period in history. As a collector of china and a born thrifter I came accross this patern. Every different item depicts a different scene from the revolutionary war. Here on the other side of the Atlantic it is extremely hard to find. With the help of some friends in the US, I was able to build quite the collection. In honour of your amazing country I create a tablescape with Liberty blue china every year on the 4th of July. My favourite piece is the soup tureen with an image of the Boston tea party on it. Love your channel. Greetings from accross the pond.

The tissue box dilemna: Well, you hit the nail on the head. First, I must admit that tissue box companies are trying to add decorations to the cardboard so if you do set them out, they sort of go with your decor. However, I love tissue box holders. I have a little log cabin that sits next to my husband's chair. I have one my Mom made for me and another that my sister made. Not only do they cover the tissue box, but they are sentimental. That little basket could be tucked in with other decor and almost invisible except for the tissue peeking out the top.

No ! You are not alone ! I have Kleenex boxes in three rooms - all with cloth covers on them (two of the covers are even monogrammed !!) one tissue box sits in a longaberger basket !! Love the bottle . Great idea for whatever you choose . I like the mouthwash idea- I’m going to try to copy that - Very pretty Julie. The teacups are gorgeous !!! Love the shapes as well as design. I’d have gotten them as well. What a deal!! Great hall overall. ❤ Marilyn xx

Hi Julie, no you are not alone, all of my Kleenex boxes are in covers that have been spray painted black. I put my dish soaps, hand soaps in vintage pop bottles because I too don't like the containers they come in sitting out. Have been enjoying your series.

I instantly thought mouthwash for that decanter as well! It looks like the perfect mouthwash bottle!

Julie you are not alone. I have tissue box covers in every room. I just think it looks much nicer to have decorative covers. I have some that are handmade plastic canvas and some that are ceramic. Just a much nicer look that you can match with your other decor.

OK, I'll add my 2 cents about tissue boxes! I have one over the smaller box next to my glider in the living room because it is in a public place. The larger box in my kitchen is almost invisible atop my refrigerator, and the larger box in the bathroom atop the antique fruit crate is amongst collectables so I only choose the boxes with nice packaging!---I love that Tupperware steamer bowl you showed. I use mine primarily to steam asparagus!---I'm very excited that those BLUE cups found a home at your place!

My mom would fill a decanter like that with water but would add food coloring and use it as a decoration. That was back in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The cups are so pretty. Glad you found them! I wish all goodwills would be consistent in their management. Our stores close to me, in Texas will it even sell you anything if it doesn’t have a tag on it, unless it’s linens or clothes or such.

I agree on the tissue boxes. I have found some cute covers on Amazon. I have a few that look like little houses, one that is emerald green leather and one that’s just a linen/burlap fabric.

I loved the Lambs ear wreath!! I saw a real cute idea for the tiny coffee cups. You make pin cushions wow baskets are great. I can see firewood in it for Christmas The Kleenex holder make a cute grocery bag holder. Pull one at a time :) decanter does not sound lazy. It sounds like a good saving of your time.

I had my hubs build wooden tissue box covers. They blend in wherever they are.

Yes on the tissue box. I have a metal square cover for the square tissues that looks like a vase. For the rectangle tissue box, my husband is going to make me a wooden cover and I will decorate it or stain it. Not sure what I want to do. Love the cups. .Love the handled basket with hinged handles that fold down. I also like Kleenex baskets covered because the box designs sometimes clash with my decorations. The corked bottle would be a good container for mouthwash.

I completely agree. Kleenex belong in the bathroom unless of course someone is really sick. I keep an open box in the medicine cabinet in the kitchen and in the console of my car too. And I suffer from allergies 354 days a year. We go through some tissues at my house but I don’t like the boxes sitting around.

Yes a Kleenex does help in a area. That wicker Kleenex holder was awesome! Sometimes people will cough or sneeze and a Kleenex is always welcome. Usually mine are in the bathroom. But if you can tuck a decorative one in somewhere, it would be helpful to guests.

All my kleenix boxes are in convenient places. All in pretty thrifted box covers!

I also keep my Kleenex boxes concealed one way or another. And yet the rest of my family leaves them out a lot. You are not alone. The struggle is real. 🙄😜

I use decanters for mouth wash too. I also dont like tissue boxes out in a room. That basket cover was nice.

Those cups are the Liberty Blue pattern Ironstone which was made for the United States” Bicentennial in 1976. Maybe the store had the saucers in a different area. I have a large set of that pattern that I have used as my everyday dishes since 1976. It lasts and lasts and is dishwasher safe.

Those cups are Staffordshire Liberty Blue. I have some as well. That is a depiction of Paul Revere. I agree that it is the perfect shade of blue.

I have all of my facial tissue boxes covered. With all of the different patterns available, I prefer they blend in with my decor so I cover them.

Hi Julie! I love the decanter you found! I think it was originally used for Aramis colonge. They came out with limited edition ones every year during the holidays in the 1970's. I know this because I bought one for my dad every year at Christmas and I kept one of them. I still love the smell of Aramis colonge. 😊 Your friend Kristine
