I feel bad for all the young people, like that girl near the beginning, the ones who still possess critical thinking skills are rightfully too scared to disagree. Hunderds of people are arrested right now for laying flowers in the streets to honour Navalny. That's a brave action in Russia. Before that, thousands and thousands of people signed for Nadezhdin, an anti-war pro-democracy politician, to be a candidate in presedencial elections. Navalny is probably alive. There is a version in Russia that he worked for Putin. And that explains a lot. There cannot be a person with two suspended sentences walking free. And when it became clear that they wanted to kill Navalny already, he fled to Russia, immediately to the colony, and was introduced all over the country. If he really interfered with the authorities, he was killed 10 years ago.

Russian prisons are highly-secured: nobody can sneak out-or in. Especially when located in the arctic circle. The CIA couldn’t reach Navalny if they wanted to. And if they could, they would have wanted to spring him out, not kill him. No, Navalny was just another of Putin’s opponents, and he met the same fate as most of the others. (If you think the CIA did get in and killed him, then the guards, the warden, heck, the head of the FSB all deserve to lose their jobs. Watch to see if anyone is punished or not for this; that’ll tell you what to think.)

Next, 3) this content shows Russian people in such a color, so that you think that they are all zombies and dumb morons - with very few exceptions just not to draw suspicion - but the vast majority are dumb. Now it is beneficial to kremlin to force Russophobia among foreigners. Why? Because then the propaganda can use it to their advantage, claiming things like "Look how they all hate you! They want you to go extinct! We are the only power that can save you from them! Trust us, not them!" and it works. But, I'm not claiming these people are fake, but they are cherry-picked. So think deeper.

I almost get the feeling that all these people know exactly what happened, but admitting it would somehow shatter their reality that everything will be ok. I had a similar experience talking to a Chinese man who's parents were starved during the cultural revolution. You could clearly tell he was not a fan of Mao but all he could muster saying was "Of course, the party had their reasons..."

I don't know. I think it's VERY telling that he's now having trouble finding people to express the non-approved opinion. I've been watching this channel for awhile, and it's been growing steadily more one sided. I don't think that's Danill's fault. I think that reflects 1. just how scared people have become to say anything negative 2. The increased informative crackdown. They have even started cracking down on VPNs now, and they recently passed a law that allows them to take your property if you are are convicted of "spreading falsified information about the military." People are scared, and for good reason!

It is interesting to watch people who know that we know they are lying but still do it with lots of conviction.

Well, I agree it makes it a little more challenging but if you search for news and compare it against other sources you can get to the truth. Plus, they are closer geographically to this conflict and speak the language better than my rudimentary abilities and many have ties to Ukraine or first hand accounts of those returning from the frontlines. So, unless one is mentally challenged, I do blame them.

I grew up during the communist rule in Czechoslovakia. There was also 0 regime-critical newspapers. Yet basically nobody believed the the propaganda. Even most communist party members did not believe the propaganda:):) (most were members because of leg up in their careers and perks and usually were pretty cynical about it:) And that was before internet, youtube. The only source of information not controlled by the regime was daily 2 hour broadcast by Voice of America- you could catch the signal in most parts of the country. Its about Russian mentality, what fits them and about what they CHOOSE to believe, not 'lack of information'.

I lived and worked in Russia 20 years ago, and we had a lady on the project, that spoke excellent English, and she would tell me that Russia and the west "Had to have a war", I was shocked then as I am now. I do think that any country that has control of news services is a danger to democracy. My opinion is many of your countrymen only get information from state sponsored information, so they would have that opinion. The older I get, the more I feel accurate and honest news is the life blood of any democracy. Free and open Journalism is critical.

I agree. It's about the freedom of speech first, because what we call news is chosen by the journalists and editors out of all the events known today. It is obviously determined by their political views, which is normal. The variety matters. The criminal clique in power in my country has always looked at the media as a weapon. The first thing Putin did when he came to power was not a murder, but taking control of the main free TV channel, NTV. Now many people who really want to know the truth do not watch TV at all, let alone state owned. And they understand clearly what happened to Navalny. Most of them probably wouldn't answer such questions, because it is just either already dangerous or will become so in the coming years. So the only people we see in such videos are brainwashed, exceptions are rare.

The question is ridiculous. The corpse will be delivered in a zink-bucket as crematorium ash. Wether it will be the ash of Navalny or a dog is anybody´s guess. Just now it dawned on me that the saviours of Russia will be the young women. Russian men are either too mercenary or too cowardly.

@1420channel, please add statistics about how many people declined to respond to your questions. This might help to estimate the percentage of people don‘t believing in the official Russian state narrative (at least in the areas where you are conducting your interviews). This would be so great!

Absolutely great point! But, I think it would put Daniil in even more danger! The authorities aren’t stupid and are watching everything. Remember the Russian government isn’t afraid of any country…ONLY of other Russian people!

@@telebubba5527Still, if they asked 100 people for an interview and only 10 were willing to answer the question after hearing it, this is already an indication. Nowadays it is very dangerous to publicly speak your mind in Russia. And telling that you think that Putin killed Navalny on camera requires loads of courage. And sadly but understandably only few people have. Only showing the people who believe in the state narrative and have nothing to fear repeating it biases the perception about what percentage of people they do represent. It leads to believe that (almost) all Russians share their opinion. And this is actually what the Russian regime want everyone to believe as well. So I would rather prefer to know that 90 people didn‘t want to answer the question. Because amongst them will be more than enough people just being too afraid to say that Putin killed Navalny.
