    A family member of mine has been battling cancer for 1 1/2 years. He is frequently home alone while dealing with chemo side effects. Someone suggested getting him kitty to keep him company while his wife is at work. He went from a big, gruff “pets are messy,” guy, to a guy that is madly in love with his kitten. He takes it for hikes in a carrier, and for walks on a leash!, People need to let themselves imagine the possibilities. No one is alone when they have a pet!, Pets are an awesome mental health treatment😍

    My Chihuahua got leg broke when he was weeks old. By the time he had the cast off, he had not had use of his leg for longer than he had use of it. Even now, when he runs, he lifts the leg up and doesn't use it. He's 17. He's perfectly happy, so it's kind of funny to watch.

    I sometimes imagine that there's a class in Vet School you have to take where you learn to neuter and spay dogs and cats. That's all the class is about and the first day the professor tells you, "If you are planning on having you're own practice, this is the most important class you will take here. You have to master this because this is going to be your bread and butter." And watching these RoundUps reinforces that for me.

    In a word…Worms. A belly full. They were just doing all their intake treatments, vaccinations, etc. The white stuff in the oral syringe, they are giving by mouth is de-wormer, and their stool also showed coccidia (not surprising, having been born and living in a feral environment) which would also contribute to an extended belly and diarrhea. Those Puppers will feel SO MUCH BETTER once they poop out all those parasites. Yuck. They were also somewhat anemic from damn fleas, so they’ve been treated for that, too.

    Why are you ethically not supposed to remove only one testicle? I mean, for a castration obviously you need to get both. But if it was a breeding animal and it had injured one testicle, would there be a reason to do the second one also?

  • @MrsProudlyCanadian

    @MrsProudlyCanadian

    2 жыл бұрын

    The reasoning is that if you only remove the visible testicle of a cryptorchid, they generally pass as sterilized. If they then transfer ownership/get lost/medical history gets confused they may end up being assumed to be neutered and end up breeding. Which would be bad both for whoever gets unexpected kittens, and because cryptorchidism is a genetic deformity they should never be allowed to reproduce.

    Why is it unethical to take out the "easy" testicle if you can't locate the other one?

  • @MrsProudlyCanadian

    @MrsProudlyCanadian

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you leave the retained testicle the animal looks neutered but is still capable of reproducing. Especially bad in shelters were the goal is to stop animals from accidently breeding, and where it's possible the animal may be transferred/go through multiple homes and eventually end up with someone who doesn't know he is still intact. Also bad because cryptorchidism is a genetic deformity which means they really shouldn't be reproducing at all.

    Smaller meals several times a day. Bloating means she's eating too fast and swallowing air (generally) so slowing down her eating and/or feeding her small amounts more frequently can help. Of course there can be other causes, but if it's every time she eats and she doesn't seem sick otherwise that's probably your issue. If you let her keep the habit it can lead to pretty significant issues later on.

    I have a question about my dog I got a video of what she does all the time and pics of raw spots on the joints of her paws. At 1 time she could have had distemper but the test didn't come out right. She had high fevers for about 2 weeks and seizures now its gone no fever but she shakes like she is having a seizure 24 hours a day I have seen her do it while sleeping. I live in the Philippines. I was just wondering if there is a way someone can tell me what's wrong if I send the video and how to treat the raw spots she doesn't want to stand very much either but if we take her for a walk she walks good.
