Thanks for the episode, good attempt which perhaps needs still more clarity for me ;) Coming to 11,000 years practically being "days", shouldn't the timescale change in the other direction in happy events where "one's sense of time would run faster than actual"? In other words, 11,000yrs would fly like 11,000days? Likewise, in difficult times shouldn't our sense of time rather pass "slowly" where 11,000days would feel like 11,000yrs? In other words, Rama's Dharmic rule should actually have been 11,000yrs that FELT & FLEW AWAY like 11,000days? Also my question was specifically, WHY within the same scripture like Valmiki Ramayana, one would choose to be inconsistent with the timescales used? Eg: It says that at the age of 16 Rama got married; went for Vanavasa for 14yrs etc while also saying he ruled for 11,000yrs, Dhasharatha was 60,000yrs old when his children were born etc.? The only explanation Dushyant Sridhar ji had as I recall was, poetic romance/license. The highly reverred Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy I heard recently saying (in his Programme, "Ramanin Pathaiyil" airing on "Sankara TV") that Rama lived Lakhs of years ago, while also mentioning that rather than researching on the exact timeline, our focus is better laid on the qualities & values espoused. That said, I believe it's SUPER important today to throw light and satisfactorily explain away these "inconsistencies" or "seemingly" unrealistic timelines mentioned in our scriptures against the timescales we are familiar with today, to quell doubts & criticisms, especially from the larger public on the authenticity of our scriptures & gods!

Thank you for your question. So again the inconsistency in time scales is just apparent. I say this because, the time scale difference has been mentioned only to indicate the number of years the rulers reigned. Whereas all the other incidents mentioned as per the astronomical references (thithi, nakshatra etc.,) are perfectly consistent. The years of rule was mentioned in 1000s of years only to show that they ruled for a long time with righteousness and dharma in tact. And even for that, we have paddathis like the ahoreva samvatsara to justify the calculations.

432000 years of Kali Yuga is way too long. On that same note is it 432000 days ( = to 1200 years)

As we had mentioned, the days being equalled to years is a generic reference to Indicate the time period for which a ruler reigned. I am not sure if we can extend that to the timelines of yugas 😄.

Also Sri. Anantharama dheekshithar have told that Sahasra means not only thousand also meant to say that anega
