Did I pay you to learn how to ride or did you pay me?! This is a question I asked a motorcycle student who continued to struggle with a straight forward skill because he had convinced himself he had to do it perfect or else. OR ELSE WHAT is the real question.
Perfectionism is actually an action we chose to avoid doing the thing in the first place. Because it conveniently paralyzes us so we don’t have to do the thing. The trouble is, that then we judge ourselves for not doing the thing and then we push harder to do make it more perfect and then we judge ourselves even harder.
