Did I Find The BEST BUDGET Table Saw with the MOST Features?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I went on a mission to find a great table saw for those on a budget or beginner woodworkers. This Skil Table saw is a great choice for a beginner table saw. It has all the features you would want in a table saw. It has a 10-inch blade, an excellent fence, and plenty of power to cut through most any wood you would want. This looks like DeWalt made this for Skill. I got the DeWalt about 4 years ago before they started making them smaller. I like the fence and set up and need the job site setup because my 'shop' is . . . well. ah, my back deck. So It gets pulled out of shed and put away. Keep up the good work.

My daughters and I have a small business, we've been slowly increasing our wood products and the skill level involved. I'm so excited to tell you that we have finally earned enough to buy this Skil table saw!! We've been wanting it so bad, since we saw your review on it. I'm giddy, and we've made our first pile of "saw glitter" today! We're making squirrel feeders. Thank you so much for all the work and care you put into your videos, you are a blessing to us! I'd show you pics if I knew where to put them..haha God bless you brother! ❤

Fun Fact / Saw Hack : The Dewalt fence fits on this SKIL and gets you another 5" Rip. However the height from the table to the bottom of the fence is different and leaves a GAP. However with creativity this can be fixed.

Please advice if you get them for the same price right now wish would get the SKIL table or DeWalt?
Thank you for the clarity on your video and well thought out presentation of this table saw.
Every time I look for some info, you've got it. I like your delivery and detail. Well earned sub.
I watched the short and came here to watch the full review. I already have a DeWalt table saw and I picked mainly because of the fence and what's available in my country. Great review btw. Thank you!
Thank you for helping in my decision to purchase this saw. Your video was straight to the point and made me more comfortable in my choice. It also answered some questions on it's ability.
Was looking for a table saw as a beginner. Just ordered. Thanks!
I've been using this saw for the last year and totally happy with it.
Just ordered mine today! Found out about this saw when you put this video out I am EXTREMELY excited. First tablesaw and the only tool I need to have a fully functioning shop. I will post an update once it arrives.
Picked one up yesterday-Skil saw--good show!
After watching and reading tons of reviews I ended up going for the Metabo TS 254 M. Thanks for listing up what’s important for a saw.
Very useful for small shop or those that have a need to transport for work. Nice fence size And high low feature. Nice price for value. Thank you for sharing this with us stay safe happy and healthy from Henrico County Virginia
DUDE! This is just what I need for my install jos.
Definitely the best place to get more knowledge!!!! I am just getting started and learning what to get and not to get…. Have to say thank you very much for all your videos

Just ordered one. Thanks for the great review!
Even though the review is a year old, I bought the saw and agree with your assessment.Thank you for what you are doing through the channel and what it means to a beginner woodworker!
I bought this saw a couple of weeks ago based on this review. This is my first table saw and I’ve gotten a lot of wood through it already. Adjustments are simple and everything works like it should. Thanks for pointing this rookie in the right direction!
Really appreciate that you're giving the extra tools to your support base. Watching creators grow kits of 15 sleeping bags, 20 reciprocating saws, 30 pairs of cleats, etc etc drives me bonkers when many of us are pinching pennies to get our first budget model of an item. I realize a table saw is a bigger space item and that might play into your decision as much as what you need/don't need, as well as promoting your patron base... but it's a good step in the right direction. 👍
Bought mine as a Father’s Day gift and just started putting it to use. Thing is amazing for the price. Simple adjustments to make sure everything was square and exact. No complaints and fits my garage shop perfectly.
I like this “best budget [tool]” series. I watched the one for the Wen miter saw the other day and I did actually eventually buy that one. This table saw is looking good too.
Great video. I’ve been doing some research on table saws to see what might work best for me as I want to start doing some woodworking to help with income. Once I can afford it, this’ll be the one I go with! I definitely appreciate professionals like you who like to help out newer woodworkers just getting into the craft!
What a beautiful workshop you have. Very neat and well designed. And your tips are exactly what I was looking for, as a beginner woodworker.

I think I found my next table saw!! Great review thank you!
Getting ready to build some cabinets. The two low end china freight models had decent reviews and excellent prices, but had next to no rip capacity. The Skil is still within the range of what I consider affordable, and offers a decent rip capacity. This review was all I needed, thanks.
I actually just bought this. Haven't even pulled it out of the box yet. After much research I bought this because of everything mentioned especially the fence. Glad to hear that I made a good purchase.
25 years ago I worked in the “tool corral” at Home Depot. Even back then, these Skil table saws were packed with features the other big names didn’t have. They were half the price in many cases and more than double the features. They weren’t a super rugged job site saw, but really fit the bill for homeowners and light commercial use. Probably the biggest downside , was the name. Skil, once a leader in the power tool field , was considered sub-standard to many tradesmen. Glad I found your video, quite by chance, as I am in the market for a tablesaw for my handyman business, guess I will have to reconsider this old friend !
Thank you for this video! I already had a nice table saw, but I wanted a way to make box joints and dado joints while minimizing the setup. I bought this saw and the Freud Dado set. For the price, for me, it was worth it to have a second dedicated table saw to keep the dado blades on. This is a great setup! You also hold the distinction of being the first person that I have ever clicked affiliate links for. Your videos have given me a great amount of value. Cheers!
Such a good quality review, very thorough, and very helpful. I just started following you on IG, was looking for a review of this saw and you popped up here on YT. Thanks!
I bought the Skil saw on your rec and couldn’t be happier. I didn’t know it existed and probably would have been fine with the standard Dewalt everyone goes with but the Skil features suit my needs perfectly and with a larger blade! Thanks!

Btw. I think you do a great job with your informative videos. I look for them constantly.
Mine is arriving tomorrow from Walmart. Can't wait to use it. Great review.
Great review! helped lots,, i really like this saw
The blade adjustment is the best. So easy to make it parallel to the miter slots.
Thanks for this video. I’ve been using a craftsman portable table saw for about 15 years. It was one of the first shop tools I ever bought but it’s showing its age and does not make straight cuts. I’ve finally decided to get something I can rely on and just ordered from ACME. Can’t wait to get it!!
Just purchased this saw and have been spending a fair bit of time getting everything squared up before I actually put it to work. I love the amount of adjustments that are available on this saw it is a definite upgrade from my last saw. The one issue I have so far is that the table seems to dip from the miter gauge to the blade, when I put a straight edge across the table perpendicular to the blade there is a definite gap that starts at about 1.5" from the throat plate on either side. Not sure if this will cause any issues but I am concerned that with smaller rip cuts it may cause the cut to be off 90°. I really appreciate the content you put out and use many of your reviews/recommendations as I build up my tool selection.
I just want to thank you for this video. My father passed away a few years ago and I needed someone with knowledge that I could trust. You are that man. Thank you for everything you do on this channel.
Ordered one today, had chance to fiddle bit in local HW store prior buying, and phew, can't wait to test it!
thank you for (another) excellent, informative video! Love your channel!

Shredded that tuba six! Thank you sir for the video, very timely for me
I've had this saw for about 2 years now. I love it, does everything that I need it to do. Love the folding legs, great for transportation to the jobsite. Small and compact. Great rack and pinion, and extension. Would definitely recommend for a first time buyer or someone on a budget.
I just bought this saw based on this video, and I have to say it is amazing! After struggling for years with a Ryobi contractor (job site) saw, the difference is night and day. It was almost perfect out of the box, but I still spent about an hour tweaking the adjustments to get as close to perfect as I could. I haven't yet done much with it, but I can really tell the difference. Thanks!
Bought this saw about 6 months ago and I couldn't be happier with it for the price. Heck, half the more expensive job site saws seem like they don't have the same amount of features as this one. It is loud, especially in roughly 10x8 section of my basement that I work in so ear pro is a must. Even outside it's an annoying noise and I prefer to wear ear pro. Best money I've spent on a tool yet.
I just returned a Kobalt table saw. Been stuck contemplating on which one to get next. This is the information I needed. Thanks.
Was about to pull the trigger on DEWALT DWE7485WS 8-1/4 in. Compact Jobsite Table Saw With Stand….AZN for $379. Now will consider this Skil saw. In addition, reviewed some recent comments re upgrades over the last year+. Thanks for this review as a reference point I value. Your strength in faith and carpentry knowledge are admirable….and appreciated.
Skil sells solid stuff. thanks for an excellent review. you sold me a saw.
killer video man, massive amounts of excellent information I could hardly keep up, man thank you so much. I might actually sell my old table saw and get one of these after a few more review videos. Great job!
I liked your review. I’m looking for a beginner table saw that isn’t decent quality and fairly priced. This looks right up my ally. I would love to see a second review of after a year or so of use to see how it holds up.
I just bought this saw TODAY and I paid 259 for it, just a heads up. Went to Lowes where they had it in stock and priced at 269, I had them price match Walmart which was online order only at 259! Watched this after buying it and im so glad I made the purchase!
Very nice table saw Matt. Thanks for showing it off. It's similar to the Oliver variable speed jobsite saw that comes with a sanding disc.
About three minutes in and this video is the absolute BEST setup video I have seen on YT! I bought this table saw about a year ago and am now getting around to unboxing and using it. The last time I used a table saw was in high school shop class DECADES ago, so I'm definitely a novice. You included aspects of setup and use that people like me need, as we're going it alone. Thank you so much for a clear, well-informed, professional-level video. New subcriber.

Finally! I got to make first cuts with this saw, that I bought back when it went on sale (hope you got the affiliate credit :). Finally in my house and they just finished foundation repairs this evening... Couln't wait to start setting up "my shop". Granted only did basic cuts right now, but that thing cuts like it is cutting though butter!! Already got first injury, but that is on knucle of my thumb when releasing the knife lock and my thumb grazed a tooth. Now off to do the responsible thing, reading the whole manual. Thanks for the video and recomendation!
Wow! a lot of nice features
Thanks. Love how you work with your Patreons.
After other reviews (this was a year ago), I purchased this very table saw. And, after a year of use, I can say I'm very glad I did! It performs beautifully and handles everything I throw at it. My only issue so far is the table surface marrs very easily. And that's it! Everything else about it works fan-flippin-tastic! Highly recommended 👍

@@modernNeanderthal800 It hasn't seemed to affect it at all. They aren't deep gouges, just surface scrapes. Makes sense since it's a cast aluminum surface. It's a very solid table saw though, no issues with vibration or being level. It is a tad louder than other table saws I've used, that's my only complaint
Awesome review many thanks
I purchased this saw from Walmart on line $299. Your review influenced my decision. Thanks
Uh.. This IS what I need. Wow. Random video in my feed actually paid off.
Thanks for your detailed review! Just purchased this (Sept. 2023) for $299 from Walmart, free shipping. Great price!
Wow I recently bought a ryobi extended fence table saw at 27 inches and I love it it is awesome small and portable
It's now only $300 on Amazon and I bought one because of your video. Thank you. I wanted to replace my ancient Craftsmen bench model because it had no protection pieces, a friction fit fence and no t-channel for the miter. I'm just a hobbyist so it's not worn out but the motor noise of the of the Craftsman is twice that of the Skil. The rack and pinion fence, guards and other features you highlighted sold me on this.
Thank you for this recommendation! I've been struggling with an old Bosch and its nasty fence system. DeWalt has a great system but with my budget and the need for a 10" it's out of the question. You rule the school!
Great review. Thanks!
New Sub from me. I've watched them all, this is by far THE BEST most comprehensive review of this saw on KZread. Thanks for your efforts. I'll be picking one up tomorrow... 👍🏻😁

I bought after your recommendation From Walmart for 300 bucks. Great so far. I even started making Microjig Matchfit jigs to use with it. I have made your channel my top wood working channel because of your faith based Christian view and advice. Im also a police officer in a high crime city in VA. For 26 years I did carpentry before law enforcement. I enjoy it as a way to deal with the pressures of the job. I really admire your commitment to the craft and I appreciate your service as a police officer and a man of God. I do like your videos regarding faith and world advice fulfilling the great commission we have all been Called to fulfill , more people need to hear it. Was looking at the dewalt and came across your review. I will definitely be getting this one. I hope the ppl at SKIL take notice, endorse this video and compensate you.
I figured out a cool way to keep my shop vac hose connections in place. I wrap 2 strips of the same side of velcro (1 on the end of the shop vac hose and the other on the collection hose it attaches to) and a single strip of the other side of velcro which bridges the gap and keeps it in place.
Thanks for the video!
I had the dewalt its about 7 years old great saw still have it but i bought this about a year ago when i seen it come out the dewalt is setting in the corner now I love this thing im not a high end woodworker by any means but I get peace from building things and I have used this to remodel our home other than the obvious miter gauge an blade which is every jobsite saws downfall this is the best saw in this price point you will ever buy hands down
I've just bought one of these after your recommendation Matt, haven't done a cut with it yet just keep looking at it. Lol
No one local has it. But this one is for me. Thanks for sharing
Owned this saw for over a year now, put it through its paces. Hasn’t disappointed. You have mis-spoken about its dado capacity. It will accept a full dado stack, though not with the stock insert. Skil sells a dado throat plate but what’s the fun in not making a zero clearance or a dado plate. 👍 good review, came out after I bought mine but solidified the purchase.
I have an old hand me down Ryobi, no rack and pinion fence. Been looking for a new one. Been looking primarily at cordless units. But man, built in legs, onboard storage for accessories, quality of cutting, I just might be sold on this. And it's like at least $100 less than the cordless. If I see this on a sale, I'm going to get it. Thank you for the very detailed review, and demonstration of the use cases. It was easy and thorough. Really appreciate it. The 25.5 cutting width seems great to me. I think both the Milwaukee and DeWalt's are like 24.5. And great suggestion on the miter gauge. Thanks again! God Bless!
I’m a new subscriber and brand spanking new to woodworking. I just purchased this saw bc of your in depth knowledge and review. I am excited to start this new hobby.

Finally found one at the Canadian Tire store in Montreal for $399 Canadian. Going to pick it up today. Thanks for the in-depth review on this table saw. ❤
So I have this saw and I've had it for about 18 months. I only do occasional DIY stuff, but have used it on very hard Beechwood Butcher block where I resawed a 6 inch portion of a desk cut-off. And some regular 3/4 hard maple, both with no issues, amond other easier woods. I did install a Diablo combination blade and aftermarket mitre guage, but the saw is actually really good. I like it a lot, it's easy to use, very convenient being able to fold it up and put it in a closet. I got this saw after I had a Crafstman saw that was a total piece of junk. Uneven surface, nothing was square, the mitre slots were a proprietary T shape. I returned it. This Skil saw was only like 40 bucks more and it was night and day. Would 100% recommend.
I have it's cousin... the Skilsaw wormdrive spt-99t (8&1/4") smaller blade and about 100 bucks more expensive BUT I am pleased so far ...good brand... chose it over the similar dewalt set up, I am happy with it.
I bought the 8 1/4 skilsaw wormdrive version after much debate and I'm kinda glad I did. There is a blade lock button, so you only need 1 wrench
Thanks for doing all these tool tests. It helps me have a little more confidence in getting my woodworking set up. I’m still scared though. lol
Just got mine in today. Had a gifted ryobi table saw that just was not it for what I’m doing in my shop. Looking forward to all the things I’ll make with it thanks you you man
Today i went to a tool consignment shop (sorta like an amazon liquidation store) and was looking for some clamps and my mom walked down a row and there were 2 or 3 table saws... but in the midst of all of them, was a hidden gem. A 10" craftsman tablesaw with a standalone stand, manual, push stick, blade guard, blade change wrenches, dust bag, fence, miter guage, and a blade, all gor 149.99. The table saw is now in my shop!
I have this saw and it’s been great for me being a woodworking hobbyist. The rack and pinion fence is what drew me in to get this saw.

Is it true that the riving knife can’t be removed, to make a zero clearance insert?
I recently purchased this saw based on one of your more recent videos. Just a tip to other viewers who own guis saw. There is a special throat plate made specifically for use with a dado stack. This plate included a special arbor nut that claimrs to make the use of a dado stack on this saw safer. See your owners manual for the item number. I found mine in acme tools
Nice video men, great info, tks,
I bought this saw earlier this year. It's amazing for the price

Thank you for this review. I got it in 2 days before knee surgery. It’s been hard looking at the box without opening :).

Great video! You might be happy to know Skil is almost the consensus choice at this price point for many of the reasons you pointed out. Ease of use (I guess Metabo and a couple others weren’t quite as simple to use) and the rack and pinion fence are the biggest draws behind affordability. Thanks, Matt!
I have this saw in New Zealand. If you look at the table bed there is a rabbet you can sit the handle of the rear collar spanner against when putting pressure on the front nut spanner. No need for a arbor lock, just use the rabbets. Changing blades is actually very easy when you use this feature.
Awesome review !!! Back The Blue !!! FLETC ... Love your channel
I love it. I got 2 dewalt tablesaws. But still like it this skil.
Hola! 🖐Really good video, thanks for going through the trouble of purchasing it then running all of those test. When Steve @WWMM was gifted a saw many years ago (video on his channel) he was gifted a Skil Table Saw. He uses it to this day, that confirms for me that it's a fine product. I got lucky last year, on father's day I received some NICE HD Gift Cards. I came across a Bosch Table Saw ON SALE and jumped on it but I'm sure that if I would have found a Skil I would have purchased it more likely. Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
I was glad to see it unplugged lol! I was looking for the power cord! I’m not saying you wouldn’t but I know many ppl who don’t
Sweet, been looking at some & maybe will buy this one in the future. *Pls do one on a thickness planer.
I had to move 8 years ago, had to get a storage building to hold up some of our stuff till we got set up,I misplaced the fence for my tablesaw, so went and got a Porter cable 10", haved it on every job sense, still works very well, and I am the one that thought it wouldn't, last out the job.
Matt, I would really like to see you do a review on a Shopsmith lathe based 5-in-1 power tool station. You can add multiple tools and most, I think, are high quality and save space. But they are pricey. I am just learning how to use mine I purchased used, but I think many people would benefit from your review. They have been around since the 1950's, and are still in business in Dayton, Ohio today. Most importantly, all parts for even the oldest Shopsmith are still available! Looking forward to this, if possible. Thanks for your great videos and plans.
Great video sir! Exactly what I was looking for. Was comparing the Craftsman and this Skil among others and this seals it for me. Much appreciated for the time and quality put into the video.
