If I remember correctly, the 1 minute long moment of silence was for Chester Bennington. Chester was a HUGE inspiration to Taka. They knew each other, had multiple interactions and were supposed to perform together not long after Chester passed away.

the 1 minute moment of silence is to underline the words coming after, "can you hear me? im trying to hear you, silence strikes like a hurricane" as if the silence of one minute was hard to endure

Every time when someone said Taka (or OOR)'s voice reminds them Chester Bennington, I'm sooo glad to hear that. Cuz Taka respects Chester and OOR had a special relationship w/ Linkin Park.

I'm japanese and I've read some of his interviews. He was born as a son of famous singer in japan(called Mori Shin-ichi an Enka singer) and was told to keep his voice in his childhood, so he had naturally known how to pull out his best voice without learning theory of mixed voice and such. Also he said that ''I can't figure out why i can sing like this and in high note." There in Japan are great rock or pop singers like Taka(Masato of COLDRAIN, Shinya Ishihara from Saucy Dog, Satoshi Fujihara from Official Hige Dandism, etc…). If interested, please listen! Sorry for my poor English…

Both his parents were Enka singers, he was apart of journeys, which is like a boy band training camp, so he grew up rich, but b/c of problems with his dad and parents divorcing he left home at 16 or 18, resulting in this song, Toru, the electric guitarist, stalked him at the restaurant he was working at and they made one ok rock as a result

@@chrisliepe of course!! I've been playing guitar since I was 12 and I'm 40 next month, I'm pretty good at figuring most everything out on guitar except for maybe some crazy solos and eruption lol, but for the most part songs are easy enough to figure out. Bass guitar drums piano that's all super fun too and I understand the concept. But vocals are something I've always tried and was never able to quite get past a certain point until I started following Chris. 2-3 years I've been following as a fan and picking up anything I possibly can from this channel. I've been fortunate to join the class the last 2 months and I gotta say I'm learning alot. I'm also witnessing new students and old to singing getting hats in the ring and doing what they love even if it sounds weird they still do it and I'm seeing improvement from everyone, it's so neat to watch. Getting to my point lol, I've followed many many vocal coaches on you tube and they all might be great but I didn't get a single nugget of technique from any of them. What I love about Chris's channel and with his courses is that he literally sings and makes crazy weird noises and explains what he's doing to get these sounds and it's so eye opening. Being more open to doing these things because he's doing them.

I'd love to see your analysis of another Japanese singer called TK (Toru Kitajima) He has a super unique way of singing where he's constantly in his head register, using either this really soft airy falsetto or a powerful mixed voice. I think his style is an amazing demonstration of vulnerability/emotion through imperfection. This is his most popular song with a full on scream in the middle (Unravel): kzread.info/dash/bejne/eaeA1aSsZNK9Y5M.html This one is a super emotional performance that made him tear up at the end (Copy Light): kzread.info/dash/bejne/h4GcktuFqrGsYrg.html And this is his most recent song and it's just pure insanity (First Death): kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZWyOzbOcgpTAhNY.html

I think you should definitely check out their heavier songs like Cry out or Make it out alive, where he goes full metal scream :D and then goes back to angel Taka in a split second. I know he is modest about his vocal abilities (at least that's what he shows in interviews) but there's gotta be training there, I cannot imagine that he just naturally can control his voice to such subtleties without hundreds of hours of practice and getting vocal training. Also that he is consistent concert after concert, big or small venue, doesn't matter (I saw them in a 1000 people concert hall in Budapest. He still sounded the same as in these videos). There must be an understanding of techniques and how the voice works. Can't imagine some is just born with all these techniques :)) and if you listen to very early OOR performances from the early 2000s, you can actually see how much his vocal abilities changed over the years. he was NOWHERE near this good when OOR started out.

What kind of delay or reverb effect is it used to get that kind of sustain? Specially in that long note of the song. You should resume those tutorials where you address that kind of things Chris, not only from the singing perspective but also production.

Judging from your reaction, you def. have to analyse Conor Mason from Nothing But Thieves. If I had that vocal ability I'd be happy. (Edit: just saw that you did haha)
