Did God Create Women Inferior to Men?

For much of Christian (and world) history, women were viewed as inferior to men. Some have even pointed to the Bible as justification. Is this really the case?

The bottom line is that the Hebrew Bible is patriarchal. Consider the story of Joseph and Potiphar's wife, David and Bathsheba, where women are presented as morally flawed. That is the legacy of Scripture to modernity.

When we got married in the catholic church (we had already been married 7 years, converted to catholicism). My husband chose Ecclesiastes 5 as the verse for the priest to read. The priest said wives should submit to their husbands as the husband submits to God, but husband need to be willing to give up his life for his wife like jesus died for us. I think that caught my husband off guard. Haha!! Those verses dont give husbands free reign to be jerks to their wives and treat them like dirt. It shows that there needs to be a mutual respect and a great love of God on both sides of the marriage.

Some of CHRIST teaching like Matthew 5 29 are very hard for humans to follow. And no man does it even if it's CHRIST own words. But for them to justify their stupid egoistical and irresponsible behavior they'll bring out Corinthians 11 3.

@@bluetickbeagles116 And the woman is required to forgive the man who has kicked her in a broken bone. Did you know that out of the cast, a re-injury, though it does not break, is nearly as painful as rebreaking it? This is torture. I should know how it feels and how many years I have endured it: 26 years. I would say 27, except, he has stopped kicking me in the last year. My husband had prostate cancer and survived both the surgery and the cancer. I have done so much research of what we can do to eat to make us highly unlikely to get cancer or to get it again. And so we went vegan. I had been vegan, it got me out of a wheelchair with severe arthritis but I was able to show him this could keep the cancer from returning. He is 6 years free of cancer so the diet is doing its job. He has not only kicked me but hit me in the back, where my original disability occurred. I had taken care of my father with Alzheimer’s and he fell on me, not listening to me when I was working on an art project for my church, my father fell on my back, crushing lower back vertebrae. I have not been in a wheelchair most of the time but the arthritis many of us get due to the Standard American Diet, I got and it put me in a wheelchair and turned my hands into what could not even hold a pen to sign my paychecks. I asked God what I could do and my impression was to “give up all dairy foods”. I had had problems with dairy from childhood. In my late 50s, I dot severe and crippling arthritis from it. Following the diet God told us to eat in Genesis, cured my arthritis. It wasn’t then only dairy, as God told us to eat plants and later on He, added vegetables. Did my husband spend the hours of looking all this up? NO, he watched JEOPARDY, THE PRICE IS RIGHT. My husband is an airhead. But I love him despite the abuse as unforgiveness is not what I am supposed to do. I’ve had to live “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”. Does this make my heart happy? No, it drives me into the arms of my dear sweet Savior. And that is how and why I persevere. That does not mean my path has not been laden with many tears. It has. My husband knows that I am a remarkable woman, he kicked me, nevertheless and in a broken bone, reopened the break in the brown bone and my chores did not stop. How many people could have lived what I lived through? Only with the help of Jesus! It has been one year he has not kicked me. Tell me, if you think that he must realize that I love him still? Despite! I love my Savior MORE!!!!! And yet, because of other teachings of the Apostle Paul, women are not allowed to teach. I ask you, did any others except Paul, oversee Christians being killed? Jesus sat and talked with women, was that on St. Paul’s download? Did Peter tell us that “women should keep silent in the churches”? Did John or James, Luke or Matthew? No we hear from Paul, and woe unto women as we, since Paul, are NOT created in the image of God. Only those created in the image of God directly are able to teach, but outside the church, women can go into space or become fantastic surgeons, even teach the men who become pastors, in seminary as women comprise half or mor of the professors in colleges which train pastors. Meanwhile we are consigned to cleaning toilets yet are trusted enough to count the offering. If this sounds like a raw deal, I’ve lived the raw deal, I should be able to recognize one, don’t you think?

Adam and Eve were the prototypes of 4th version of humanity as opposed to inferior 5th after deluge. Both generations were engineered by that bastard Yahweh, the master geneticist who hi-jacked the original blueprint of humanity and since then playing both god and devil, which reminds me how anti-virus companies operate.

Marietta Ljiljić Adam’s Death: What Can We Learn From His Very Own Words About The Woman Eve His Wife --------------- 13 And Enoch begot Methuselah. And Methuselah begot Lamech. And it was this same Lamech who was the father of Noah. 14 And it came to pass that in the days of Lamech, Adam began to be old and was ready to return to the spirit world and serve with Jehovah there for the sake of all the children of God. 15 And before he died, Adam called unto him all of his children once again. And Adam knew that his death was near. And it was his desire to die at the appointed time that the Lord had given him. For Eve had died ten years after the birth of Lamech, the son of Methuselah, who was a direct descendent of her son, Seth, she having fulfilled the commandments of the Lord in providing many bodies for the spirit children of the Father. 16 And Eve became honored exceedingly after her death. And many of her daughters made statues and idols unto her and worshiped her. And in this thing Adam was exceedingly sorrowful, and counseled with his daughters that they should not do this thing; for Eve would not have wanted this thing done unto her, because she understood that the Father deserved all the glory. 18 And it came to pass that on the day that Adam knew he was to die, he called his sons before him. And according to the words of the brother of Jared, the meeting was exceedingly renown. For surrounding the bed on which Adam lay, even taking his last breath as a mortal, were his son, Seth, and the son of Seth, who was Enos, and Cainan and Mahalaleel, and Jared, and Enoch, and Methuselah, and Lamech, who were some of the most righteous men who have ever lived upon the face of the earth. 19 And Adam reminisced on many of the days of his life, and smiled upon them, knowing that he was faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord during all the days of his probation. 20 And Adam called many of his daughters and granddaughters unto him. And his sons made way whereby these women could approach their father, Adam, and hear his words unto them. And their eyes were full of tears and anguish, for they knew that they were about to witness the death of the greatest man whom they had ever known. 21 And Adam took one of the daughters of Eve by the hand, even a daughter who appeared in the flesh in the same likeness as her mother, Eve. And he spake unto all of them who were surrounding him, saying: Oh, my beloved daughters, I would that ye should be the last on this earth to see my face; and that ye also are the last thing that I see with my mortal eyes before I give up the flesh and return home to the spirit realm of the Father. 22 And I know that ye have been engaged in childbearing all the days of your lives, in which ye have received much joy and happiness, in spite of the tribulations that exist because of the flesh. And thy brethren have been commanded to watch over you and lead you. Yea, they have been given the responsibility to teach you the things that the Lord taught unto me and your mother, Eve in the garden of Eden. 23 And they do not take upon themselves the honor and glories of men, but these things are given unto them by those who do not understand the mysteries of God and His will concerning those who are called to serve His children. But I understand these mysteries. And I say unto you, that none of them hath the power and deserveth the glory that ye do. 24 Behold, none of these men were with me in the garden of Eden. Yea, no other man was there, but your mother, Eve. And she was my companion, my helpmeet, my sister and my friend. Oh, how I loved her so. Oh, how I have missed her these many years since her death. And without her, I have felt a great loss and am unable to be comforted at night when I should be holding her next to me. 25 And when the Lord commanded that we should be one flesh, surely this came to be through the many years that we were together. And when I would cry over my children, even because of their wickedness, she would be there for me, holding me and wiping away my many tears. 26 And when I had forgotten my Lord, and thought that our life in the garden of Eden in the presence of the Father was just a dream, she was there with exceeding faith to bring these things once again to my memory, and to show unto me the righteous ways of the Lord. 27 And in exceeding strength and faith in the Lord, she did bring forth many children unto me. And she caused these children to laugh and smile and know her tender ways all the days of their youth. And even those children, who as adults, have rebelled against me; yea, these could not rebel against their mother. For she was gentle and kind to everyone all the days of her life. 28 And when she died, I held her flesh next to me for many hours, weeping exceedingly, because she had left me alone in the flesh. And my beloved wife could sense my anguish in the spirit world and came unto me unseen, and gave unto me once again her exceeding love and support. And without her I am nothing. 29 And now, my beloved daughters, I would that ye should hold me one more time, that I might feel the softness of your touch, and the gentleness of your ways. Yea, I would that ye gather around me and take my hands in yours, that I might once again think of my beloved Eve as I leave this flesh to once again be reunited with her in the spirit. For behold, I came into this world with her at my side. And now I shall go out with the freshness of her daughters at my side, who are in her likeness and her glory. 30 And the daughter who was like unto Eve fell upon Adam and wept upon him. And the other women who were there came close unto him and took his hands in theirs and wept exceedingly. 31 And the brother of Jared wrote, saying: And because I was in the Spirit, I could behold all the spiritual beings who had also surrounded Adam to welcome him back into the spirit world from whence he came. And Seriphia was in the forefront and smiled upon the words that Adam spoke concerning her. And Jehovah was also there, rejoicing in the mortal death of his brother and friend, Michael. 32 And with his last breath, Adam kissed the daughter of Eve upon her face. And Adam gave up the ghost. 33 And I beheld the spirit matter of Michael leave the body of Adam and enter into the spirit realm where he was greeted with the applause and love from all of those who attended his reentrance into this world. And with Seriphia at his side, Michael disappeared from before my eyes that I could see him no longer. 34 And now, I, Moroni, did also weep at the words that the brother of Jared wrote concerning the death of Adam. For I had not been allowed by the Lord to marry during the days of my probation. Nevertheless, I knew that one day I would be blessed with a woman like unto Seriphia, who was the woman Eve in the flesh. And I was desirous to feel the exceeding love and devotion that Adam had for his wife. For I knew that without the woman, a man cannot receive a fullness of joy in exaltation. And in the knowledge that one day I would experience this joy, I did rejoice.♥️♥️♥️

The literal Word of God is Jesus Christ, according to the Gospel of St. John. “The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us”. It is not Scripture, which is divinely inspired, but written by man. On the way women are to be treated or considered, we can look to the literal Word, who treated men and women in the same respect. He gave the keys of the kingdom to St. Peter, but revealed the glorious truth of his resurrection to St. Mary Magdalene, and instructed her to reveal this to his apostles. Can we really see the Mother of God as a second class citizen to her husband, St. Joseph? Or of lesser authority to the men of the early Church?

Only Jesus Christ who wants both men and woman to individually believe and have faith in him ALONE!! Stop elevating peter above others. Peter said christ is the savior “If we believe that” Then WE all have the keys to heaven!! Its literal THE key to heaven for all!! Stop believing mans word above what the bible says. Gods says “Test the spirits” - so you have authority to test what men say against scripture. So your not deceived.

@ER Sacred For something to be true, it doesn’t necessarily have to be directly stated in Sacred Scripture. We can use our own natural reason, combined with the inspired word of God to draw conclusions about things our Lord didn’t specifically instruct on. First, on Mary being holy: Mary, like all you have passed from this world, is either in Heaven or Hell, and I don’t think any Christian would argue the possibility that she could have ended up in Hell. Now if we assume she’s in heaven, how can we call her anything but holy? We don’t call ourselves holy, because we’re all sinners. We all make mistakes, and therefore we’re all imperfect; but unless we’re to believe that the saints in Heaven are still imperfect, and therefore still subjected to sin, which is absurd, why shouldn’t we call them holy? Our Lord said “Be holy, as your Father in Heaven is holy.” Are we to believe that what He told is to do can’t be done, even by those who have obtained salvation? Second, on praying to Mary: Catholics don’t pray to Mary, at least not in the same way we pray to God. We ask Mary to intercede for us. “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death.” Isn’t it perfectly natural for us to pray for each other? Haven’t you ever prayed for the sake of another person, or asked another person to pray for you? If so, why shouldn’t we ask Mary to pray for us? If we ask others to pray for us, why shouldn’t we ask her, who shares a closer relationship with our Lord than any other human could, to do the same. Third, on elevating Mary to a position of honor: There are a number of points that can be made for why we should do this, including a few Bible passages. For sake of brevity, I’ll just bring up one. She is in fact the Mother of God. She carried Him, gave birth to Him, raised Him, cared for Him. What good reason is there not to honor her above ordinary humans. Obviously we shouldn’t elevate to a position of honor equal with God. That would be blasphemy, but she’s certainly, at the very least, worthy of some great honor that no other person is. All rational humans who love their mothers and share a healthy relationship with them would wish to see their mother’s honored. How much more should the Son of God? I hope this has been helpful. God bless.

even in the second creation story, where Eve is made from Adam, a careful reading of the Hebrew hints at something really interesting. Adam does not have a definitively masculine grammatical gender until after Eve is created, and the 'rib' that God pulled out of Adam is not what Eve is made from, they are formed together. so, a perfectly possible reading of the text is that Adam is initially genderless, God reaches into his body, creating a prototype of female genitalia, begins forming Eve as a clone of Adam in this moment (she is thus female), and then upon birthing Eve from Adam a prototype of male genitalia, the 'rib', is formed. thus, Adam as a male and Eve as a female are created simultaneously. this also conveniently gets every otherwise strange detail of the story to actually make sense and relate to how conception, gestation and birth actually work in humans. later on, when they are banished from Eden, gender roles are thrust upon them. this is plausibly just the rest of the story, speaking to the responsibility of adulthood and how it contrasts to the innocence of childhood to which one can never return (life in Eden). and as such, neither man nor woman is inherently subordinate. they merely have different, complimentary, roles in life that together perpetuate humanity.

and so reading 'adam' simply as 'person' at first, and then as 'man' later on, when there is a woman to contrast with, actually makes perfect sense, and is a really clever way of using the full definition of the term artfully in the context of the narrative.

Regarding the part about women being silent in church: For a music history course, I wrote a paper about castrati (plural of castrato). I went into the paper having no expectation that so much of what I wrote about would revolve around the Catholic Church, as castrati were also famous operatic singers. Very specifically to the Catholic Church women were forbidden not only from speaking but also singing. This caused problems. The Catholic Church wanted to attract the masses both with beautiful sights and sounds, and music had changed such that it was being written in four vocal parts. The Catholic solution was to encourage the creation of castrati. I wrote this paper back in the 2000s so I don't remember all the details, but from what I remember the Catholic church never explicitly commissioned this practice, but it did so tacitly. A castrato was someone castrated at a young age, and it was often fatal due to the problems with hygiene and anesthesia at the time. Families would do this hoping for money from the church or if not to work in the opera. It was not merely the act of castration but also grueling vocal training that created what has been described as otherworldly sounds. Castrati never had their voices deepen, yet still had the larger chest cavities of adult men, and also this unique training, and so the sound is not comparable to that of an uncastrated man or that of a woman. There are some recordings of castrati from the 20th century you can still find on Wikipedia. From what I remember there were even castrati that served various popes. One of the many sad parts of all this was that the Catholic Church encouraged this practice. Those who were castrated were euphemistically said to have been victims of an "attack of a pig." Castrati remained employed by the church through the 1800s, and it wasn't until the beginning of the 20th century that the practice was officially renounced. The Catholic Church did not allow them to marry but did allow them to be "gallant companions" to females. From what I recall, the practice was encouraged but never explicitly. I'd have to find my old paper to be sure. But they were the main employer of castrati and drove the demand. Anyhow, all that is to say that this practice expanded long, long past any deference to the sensibilities of the Roman Empire. To say that the scripture should be interpreted as a product of its time is fine, but then so many other functions in the church should be re-evaluated under the same critical lens, including the role of female leadership within the church, which has been attributed to Jesus having only male apostles-something that was also likely a product of its time.

And in the early 18th century, Benito Feijoo wrote his "Defensio de las mujeres" (Defense of the women), where he was like: "Sooo... The snake AKA devil tempted Eve, and Eve persuaded Adam. But we are taught that Men are the stronger sex, but Adam fell to temptation easier then Eve, because Eve was the dutiful daughter until the snake persuaded her, and Adam just had the forbidden fruit be offered to him by his wife? Who's the weaker sex now, guys?" And: "My fellow men always go on about how dumb women are and that they are unable to be intellectual. But what can you expect if you don't want women to be educated? There are clever and educated women in history and hagiography, Hypatia or Saint Catherine for example..." And the philosophers of the Enlightenment of the 18th centuries were like: "Yeah, wifes need to stay at home and raise the kids, BUT they need to be educated so they can properly teach their children, soooo... An educated mother is a good mother."

Florian Part 1: Adam’s counsel to his children pertaining to our Eternal Parents: --------------- 20 And now my beloved children, do ye suppose that if we were created in the image of the Gods-both male and female-that this image is only that of a man? Ye know well that there are females among us, and are not their bodies also created in the image of God? And I say unto you that they are also created in the image of God, and that God is not our Father alone, but that we also have an Eternal Mother, who is also a God. 21 And these things I have caused to be taught unto you by faith, knowing that ye have never seen the Father and the Mother of whom I speak. For they are the father and the mother of your spirits, which spirits ye also cannot see with your mortal eyes. Nevertheless, our Eternal Father and Mother are not made of spirit matter of which our spirits are made, but they have bodies of flesh and bone like unto ours. And our mortal bodies were created in the image of their eternal bodies, which are perfect. And our mortal bodies, which are imperfect, were made in the image of their bodies, but not in an exact likeness like unto our spirits. 22 For behold, our spirits are an exact likeness of our eternal parents in a similar way as your mortal bodies are a likeness of your mortal parents. And ye have beheld the body that I possess, and also the body that your mother Eve possesseth. And we were not born of mortal parents, therefore our bodies were not created in the likeness of imperfection, but were created after the pattern of the bodies of our Father and Mother in heaven. And for this reason ye have beheld that we have maintained our strength and our vitality even unto a very old age. And your mother Eve is like unto her daughters in every way, even that she hath lived many years past the deaths of many of her daughters, even those who have defiled their bodies and made them impure by those things which were forbidden unto them. 26 And Eve brought this knowledge back to my attention many times, but I would not listen to her because of my pride; yea, even the pride that a man doth feel because of the strength that he hath been given over a woman. Yet this strength that I have been given over Eve was not the strength of the spirit, which strength she hath in a greater abundance than I. And for this reason, my beloved sons, I would that ye should look unto your wives and your mothers; yea, in many instances, even unto your daughters for this spiritual strength that will keep you humble during the days of your probation here in mortality. 35 And now my beloved children, I would that ye should know that before we came to this earth, even to this part of this great universe, which expanse of space we can see with our mortal eyes; yea, even before we came to this planet upon which we now live and pass through the days of this probation, we lived on another planet with our Eternal Parents, who is the God that I have taught you to believe in all the days of my life. 36 And we were created from the materials from our Eternal Mother, having received the instructions for the creation of our spirits from our Eternal Father. And this process took place in a similar fashion like unto the conception of a child here in mortality. Nevertheless, this conception was perfect and refined according to the laws of the planet on which our Eternal Parents live. 42 And our Mothers who brought us forth from Their own bodies began to teach us these eternal laws of happiness. Yea, even from the day of our spiritual birth we were continually taught and raised by our Mothers to know this happiness. And by teaching us about this happiness, our Eternal Mothers received their own happiness. 43 And this is the work and the glory of an eternal woman who hath the power and the ability, which Her exalted body provideth, even to bring forth spiritual offspring, which are Her eternal children, which She shall know forever. 44 But the Father hath other works that He doeth, even according to the eternal laws of happiness that govern Him. For while our Eternal Mother is caring for our spirit and bringing other spirits into being, that our spirit might not be alone; yea, even as She is engaged in the desires of Her own happiness, so is our Father engaged in the performance of His labors, which labors shall provide for us the means by which we shall be able to know the happiness that our Mothers desire for us. 45 Behold, our Eternal Mothers perform the labors that are necessary for our first estate, which estate is the state in which we find ourselves as spirits in the kingdom of our Eternal Parents. But our Eternal Father performeth the labors that are necessary for our second estate, which estate is the state of the days of our probation, or the days of our mortality. 46 And because our Mothers are busy with their labors in our first estate, They do not concern Themselves with the cares and labors of our second estate. And our Father doth not concern himself with the affairs of our first estate, in which estate the labors of our Mothers are performed. For what purpose would we need a mother if it was that our father could provide for all of our needs? And again, what purpose would we need a father, if our mother could provide us with all that we need? 47 For this reason the Gods are male and female; nevertheless, they are equal in all things, having the same glory and the same power.♥️♥️♥️

Florian Part 2: Adam’s counsel to his children pertaining to our Eternal Parents: --------------- 48 Adam hath spoken is a mystery which hath caused some manner of confusion and disputation among the children of men. For there are those who feel that a woman is inferior to a man, and that if our Father is a male, then that must be an indication that a man is the preferred gender, and one of a higher order than that of a female. 49 And ye also know that our Eternal Mothers are not mentioned in the scriptures that ye have before you. Yea, at very few times hath there been made proper mention of our Eternal Mothers throughout the history of the children of men. Yet, ye will see as the vision of the brother of Jared is unfolded unto you, that the children of men will begin to worship female Goddesses, and this hath been done in times of old by those who do not understand the mysteries of God, but have changed them by the foolish traditions that have crept in among them because they do not follow the commandments of the Father. 50 For behold, because our Eternal Mothers have little to do with this world and the state of our probation, as Adam hath described it unto you, They are not mentioned in the holy scriptures. And this because this is the work of the Father, and He deserveth the glory from that which is required of Him by the eternal laws that He obeyeth. 51 Now this doth not mean that the honor and glory of an Eternal Mother is taken away. For she received the major portion of the honor and glory while we existed in our first estate. And as spirits in our first estate, we had very little to do with our Father, because of the work that was required of Him in other worlds that He had created for the spirits of those that were created before our spirits were created. 52 For this is not the only world on which existeth the spirit children of the Father and of our Eternal Mothers. For after a spirit reacheth an age of maturity and is raised to this state by an Eternal Mother, then that spirit is presented to the Father that it might be prepared for its second estate, which is the work of the Father. And after it hath passed through its second estate, then it shall receive its eternal glory in the kingdom of the Father. And then shall the work of the Father, and also of our Eternal Mothers be completed. 53 And when this work is completed, then shall the Father and our Eternal Mothers partake of the honor and glory together, having earned this honor and glory according to the works of each, in the estate that They were involved with according to the eternal laws of the kingdom of God. 54 And after this work is completed, do ye think that the work of the Father and our Mothers is complete? I say unto you that it is not complete, because Their work is eternal and cannot end. Therefore, They will continually seek the happiness that They desire by doing what bringeth Them this happiness. And this happiness cometh by way of the happiness that They can provide for others, which others are Their spiritual children. 55 And I would that ye should understand that a man and a woman are equal in all things. Yea, I would that those of you who think that a man is greater than a woman would know that a woman is even more precious unto the Lord than a man. And this because of her power of creation as it hath been explained previously unto you. 56 Behold, a righteous man can bring forth many children, but these children cannot be righteous except that they are taught by their mothers who are righteous. And if it were in the best interest of the purpose of creation, then God would rid Himself of most men, but keep unto Himself the women. For within one man is the power to create many children, but within a woman is the power by which she might only create one child at one time. And this righteous man might be the means by which many women may bring forth children. 57 And this thing was known from the beginning, even according to the words of Adam. And at certain times the Lord commanded chosen men to allow their wives to give unto them other wives for the purpose of creation. Nevertheless, these were righteous men who were chosen specifically by the Lord to do this thing. But unto the rest of the children of men, he hath commanded that they have but one wife only, and this because of their unrighteousness. 83 And now my beloved sisters, remember who is your Father in heaven. Remember that ye have a Mother there also. Yea, remember that ye were created in the image of your Eternal Mother, and that She loveth you and desireth that ye have the happiness that ye desire. Ye are daughters of an Eternal Father and Mother. Ye deserve the respect and honor of a daughter of these Eternal Beings. Be ye not deceived by your brothers who lust after you and would take you away from the words of Christ.♥️♥️♥️

Agreed, we should look if Paul’s teachings were to apply to people at a specific time or to everyone. He was addressing specific people, but also clarifying church teaching. One correction (not about "strenth"): A better translation is, God took from man's "side". This is according to some translations as well as Dennis Prager's direct translation of the ancient Hebrew. It is a significant difference. May it even mean that the first man was, in a sense, both man and woman, and then split into two, the older consciousness remaining with the male/man? Perhaps he was the unbroken embodiment of the "one flesh" that man and woman become in marriage, but God wished there to be two souls within the unity interacting with one another, instead of one?

it is a symbol of Christ and the Church. From the side of Christ the Church was born. Jesus fell asleep by God just like Adam(He committed His Spirit into the Father's hand, and then He died). Then the side of Christ was pierced, there flowed from it blood and water, and his flesh was opened. These are the sacramentals of the Church(his wife): blood(vine), water(bauptism), flesh(bread), and in all His Spirit. By these we are one body, one flesh with Christ and within Christ. And because Christ is truly man and truly God. By uniting us with His Humanity Jesus through his Divinity united us with God. That's why Paul call Jesus the one mediator between God and mankind, because He is the only one who is both.

I personally believe that we and the universe are God's creation, just not based on the literal description of the book of Genesis. This is in accord with the Church's dogmas on creation.

I agree with you on how to understand why and what Paul wrote, but what seems to be missing here is that perhaps the same historical context that guided Paul to write that, that view of women as subjugated to man, is the same view that the ancient hebrews shared when Genesis was written, in other words, if at first glance Genesis seems to depict women as lesser than men, is because that is just how hebrews thought of women as well. I doubt the ancient hebrews were any less sexist than the romans and 1 a.C jews.

We are equal in the eye of law. There is not such thing as equal in physical or mental sense. A woman can be stronger than men and smarter and same goes for men as well. The interesting thing is generally men are physically stronger.

  • @mistressofstones

    @mistressofstones

On one level they are, just brute strength. When you learn more about how we are as creatures you feel more sympathy for men. Male humans are more vulnerable to death and disease than female humans at every stage of life. They also live longer when married than unmarried, the same isn't true for women. So if the test of strength is something purely athletic the average man beats the average woman every time. But life isn't about lifting heavy things or punching people too much anymore for most people in the west, so unless a man wants to use violence against a woman in defining himself as superior then well that's not as important as it once was. Men need us and we need them, we're both beautiful parts of gods creation 💕

So, as a woman would I be allowed to become a priest? If I am just as dedicated to god as a man, why do the people at the head of my church tell me the most I could do for our church is to be a ccd teacher. Which is a fine job i'm not trying to put it down. I feel like some of the responses will be like "because women and men have different roles." But what if my role is to share the gospel and give insight at church as a priestess. I feel like if anything god should be the one to decide my role, not other people telling me what is "the way of the lord" In a small rural area this is very radical so I can't bring this thought up here. So i'd like to ask other christians about this who don't feel that pressure. I might bring it up in confession eventually because our new priest is younger and might be able to understand where I am coming from.

If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment. 1 Corinthians 14:37 What goes before this verse is: Let the women keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but let them subject themselves, just as the Law also says. And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. 1 Corinthians 14:34,35 The Bible is the authoritative Word of God, not Paul or any other human. Read 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. Your argument is with God not men!

It's one reason, I love your vlogs. They remind us of clinging close to Christ, the Church, and Magisterium. For me though, I see Adam giving Eve a grand title. As nothing is more divine than motherhood, here on earth. I have witnessed many of the most materialistic of women, transform through the Sacrament of Matrimony and becoming mothers, to the most spiritual of women.

This is excellent work. St. Paul's words are not Christ's words. Perhaps he was mistaken or didn't talk with the care if a lawyer, or... We are misunderstanding his words, when St. Paul was writing to specific people in a specific time, not speaking to all humanity for all time. We live in a fallen world. And all that became our nature when we left Eden is meant to be overcome. In Genesis 1 it is stated that man and woman are made in God's image. Using one's own reason (and not needing much time to think about it), one recognizes that men and women are deeply different as such, but in the deepest sense, in the spiritual, we are equals-- and God's creation of us and Christ's treatment of us shows it.

An unstated point in the video is the matter of authority. As you noted, the Scriptures use the same word "ezer" to describe God, and He certainly isn't subordinate.... He has all authority, which He gives to His Son, Who gives it to the Church through the Pope and the Magisterium. And it doesn't stop there -- it continues into the domestic church. I was expecting the verse from Ephesians to continue, "...the man is the head of his wife, as Christ is the Head of His Church." In this verse, "head" doesn't mean "domineering, lording it over others as the pagans do" (to borrow from another verse). It means "authority," but in the sense of "relationship," where Christ has profound concern for the well-being of His Bride, the Church -- it's a love like no other. We can't fathom how God loves, we can only reflect a glimmer of His love for us in our love for one another for His sake (that is, because He created everyone, so out of love and respect for Him, we love our brothers and sisters). It might be interesting to ask your parents how they've managed to make decisions without coming to a deadlock over certain things. There are actually modern secular psychological studies showing that men in general have the inborn trait to back off from women who take charge and control the shots. We recognize that it's unhealthy for one partner in a relationship to call all the shots, but there's an instinct that isn't shaped by upbringing where most people have an aversion to relationships (even observed) where women control the household decisions, but a reaction ranging from distaste to "smh" when a man controls the domicile (and the reaction is equal among men and women alike). I recognize what St. Paul was saying in the findings of non-religious psychology studies. It comes back again to relationship, based on love, and love is "willing the good of the other as other." But in every relationship where people are bound together for life, making decisions that affect one another, there has to be an authority who makes the final decision, or things fall apart. And since I'm a woman, I could agree to accepting my husband's authority if I'm confident in his judgement, wisdom, and prudence -- but it would be a lot harder if he has a history of making really dumb decisions. In that case, we have many saints who are patronesses of difficult domestic relations.

KA Fleury Adam’s Death: What Can We Learn From His Very Own Words About The Woman Eve His Wife --------------- 13 And Enoch begot Methuselah.

On SB Part 1: Adam’s counsel to his children pertaining to our Eternal Parents: --------------- 20 And now my beloved children, do ye suppose that if we were created in the image of the Gods-both male and female-that this image is only that of a man?

That is correct there are two creation stories which gives rise to another story in which Jewish scribes had wrote to branch the two stories together which of course is largely disregarded now. I'm talking about the story of Adam and Lilith as the first story indicated that both man and woman were created equally which lead to the story that Adam's first wife was not Eve but rather a woman named Lilith in which the relationship between them didn't work out and Lilith left Adam and because she refused to return to Adam she was cursed which is where the legend of the succubus originated from. Which lead God to decide to make Eve from Adam's rib in which she would be subordinate to him. Obviously the story of Adam and Lilith was around since the time of St. Paul but it's St. Paul that states women should be subordinate to their husbands. The leadership role in the Church as well within society itself had come from men in which the man was the head of his household and it was the men that fought the wars and built their nations. As for women they were historically not permitted to fight in wars even St. Joan of Arc had to hide the fact she was a woman when she joined and latter on lead the French army. This also explains why Christ chosen the 12 Apostles to be men to build His Church and why since then men had been chosen to succeed the offices of St. Peter and the Apostles in which Christ Himself had appointed these offices to men. Look at the mess modern Feminism has caused within society in which both parents have to work to provide for their families leaving their children to be cared for by nannies and daycare providers instead of mothers being with their children. And now men being marginalized by society and within the courts which had lead to groups like MGTOW. When God's plan is unbalanced like it has become there arises problems. The genders are suppose to compliment each other as each has their own roles in the Church as well as within society as God intended. Man means Earth as Woman comes from the Earth, Woman came from Man.

Brother Casey, you are say that sometimes the bible is not the word of God, but "the word of humanity for a given age" This is not only a heresy that was condemned by Pope Saint Pius X, but it also contradicts the bible. "For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost. " 2 Peter 1:21

What you are saying is circular in logic, that the Bible is infallible because the Bible says so, and we have to follow the Bible, well, because it's infallible. As for Pius X's words, not everything that a Pope teaches is irreformable. He said something to that effect at the time, but it was merely the Church's approach at the time. Biblical scholarship has grown tremendously since then, as has our official approaches. I would recommend reading Dei Verbum, the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation. It is the highest teaching authority on the Bible, and no. 11 states what I'm saying: The books of Scripture must be acknowledged as teaching solidly, faithfully and without error that truth which God wanted put into sacred writings for the sake of salvation. Not everything in Scripture is without error, but only that which is for the sake of salvation. I would recommend watching this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o5xtkpSgpM2shZM.html

The bible is infallible, not only because it says that, but because the Church has said that. Belief in the bible and in the Church are the most important beliefs in our Faith, after belief in God and Christ, of course, and it cannot be modified or committed simply because it teaches against the way modern society is living. Brother Casey, I hope you realize that you basically said: "Pius X's words that the church cannot change with the times were only valid for Piux X's times." Which is of course circular logic, the same circular logic you have accused the bible of having. Dei Verbum never said that the bible is fallible, in fact it says the opposite. Dei Verbum defends the freedom from error of the bible, it does not limit the times it is true. It most certainly never says "St Paul's teachings were true then, but no more. Please understand that we cannot modify Church teaching in order to conform to modern standards. This is the heresy of modernism. C.K. Chesterton said once "May God save us from the Church becoming like society, for it is the Church that must lead society" and Her teachings are equally true now as they were two thousand years ago; it does not change with society. You recommended me to re-read Di Verbum, and I will, and I suggest that you brother, read Pascendi Dominici Gregis.

Breaking In The Habit As catholic, may I ask one question? As I understand, God created men and women, so is described Eden in Genesis. But we are not in Eden any more. World isn’t harmonious any more. Does anyone in the Church talking about hemaphroditism? Should hemaphrodites accept the body the way they are born or should go in one orientation? I’m not aware that someone is talking about those people although on each 2 000 babies is born one hemaphrodite.. Thank You!❤️

I remember a Jewish interpretation i once read... sth like Men suffer more cs they're mere dust/earth, but when the woman was made well that part of the Adam was already solidified... still wondering why she wasn't also made out of mere dust... totally not thinking about Lilith... BTW Genesis chapter one could have some hints on that?

Roy English Adam’s Death: What Can We Learn From His Very Own Words About The Woman Eve His Wife --------------- 13 And Enoch begot Methuselah.

There are so many things that you said in this clip that I really think are great! I would add, as I believe it was St Augustine who interpreted this, that a deep significance of Eve being made of the rib of Adam comes from its closeness to his heart. In the divine plan of God, woman is made from the closest part to the heart of man. This the analogy is one of a deep sense of intimacy of the heart, co-purpose and shared destiny between the two. Respecting the 4 senses of scripture, there is an allegorical sense here which speaks to the piercing of Christ’s side on the Cross and His Sacred Heart being pierced for His Bride, the Church. And this brings me to the part which, respectfully, I think is problematic. You are absolutely correct that context is fundamental, but not uncommonly there are some pitfalls in trying to incorrectly contextualize the sense of things in the scriptures out of their intended meaning. The submission of the wives mentioned in Ephesians is not just a cultural statement and this is made manifest by...you guessed it, the context: St Paul is looking at the marital reality between men and women and making it an image (even more than that) of the marital bond between Jesus and His Bride. The role of leadership/headship and submission is integral to the nature of the relationship or else the we risk severely damaging the understanding of the relationship between Christ and His Church. As St John Chrysostome says, this is not a servile submission but one of companionship, and if I may add, it is joyful in the knowledge that both are participating in the elected imagery that God has planned to show the Love He has for His beloved Catholic Church. Anyway, here’s a great text for anyone interested from Casti Connubii, a much praised encyclical by St John Paul II in particular. I would encourage everyone to read the full thing and not limit themselves to just this excerpt, it truly deserves a full and attentive reading. In this excerpt you will see that the submission is not only a culturally limited affair, something explicitly rejected by the Holy Father, but as the context of the scripture implies and the Pope makes clear, is actually describing a structure established by God which does not deny the “mutual partnership” (as Pope Pius calls it) between equals: “This subjection, however, does not deny or take away the liberty which fully belongs to the woman both in view of her dignity as a human person, and in view of her most noble office as wife and mother and companion; nor does it bid her obey her husband's every request if not in harmony with right reason or with the dignity due to wife; nor, in fine, does it imply that the wife should be put on a level with those persons who in law are called minors, to whom it is not customary to allow free exercise of their rights on account of their lack of mature judgment, or of their ignorance of human affairs. But it forbids that exaggerated liberty which cares not for the good of the family; it forbids that in this body which is the family, the heart be separated from the head to the great detriment of the whole body and the proximate danger of ruin. For if the man is the head, the woman is the heart, and as he occupies the chief place in ruling, so she may and ought to claim for herself the chief place in love. Again, this subjection of wife to husband in its degree and manner may vary according to the different conditions of persons, place and time. In fact, if the husband neglect his duty, it falls to the wife to take his place in directing the family. But the structure of the family and its fundamental law, established and confirmed by God, must always and everywhere be maintained intact .” I know some of these words are hard to hear to a modern ear or to those of us who want to make the work of evangelization more appealing (certainly not an unworthy task!), but sometimes Jesus Christ says things that challenge our preconceived ideas and can make us feel uncomfortable. Our Lord promises us that it’s definitely worth it. As our Holy Father says, we have a God who is the God of surprises; those things of God which are sometimes hard to hear often reveal great and beautiful surprises in His Divine and admittedly mysterious plan. Thanks Brother Casey, glad you’re out there!

Adque Part 1: Adam’s counsel to his children pertaining to our Eternal Parents: --------------- 20 And now my beloved children, do ye suppose that if we were created in the image of the Gods-both male and female-that this image is only that of a man?

Adque Part 2: Adam’s counsel to his children pertaining to our Eternal Parents: --------------- 48 Adam hath spoken is a mystery which hath caused some manner of confusion and disputation among the children of men.

Thanks Bro Casey for the video. As a flashback to a previous video, can we really look at the book of Genesis as "a myth"? Certainly for me there is something going on that is way more than one would find in Aesop's fables. Granted I, too, struggle with a literal seven day creation interpretation but at least, casting aside the notion of a myth, makes Genesis more pithy and realistic. Here's something that I would like to consider regarding women's subordination to men. As you know, Eve fessed to eating the apple. In response, looking at Genesis 3:15 To the woman he (God) said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” For me, in looking at the first portion of the verse, I take it that God's plans for women were to bear painless births. In other words, the exact opposite of what was written in Gen 3:15. Is the same interpretation approach should be considered in the second part of the verse? Was God's ultimate intention was perhaps, women to be a sort of a "queen bee" where her desires can be with any male and she was to rule over men? Yikes!?! Even for me being a guy, I find hard to wrap my mind around and repulsive. Therefore I decided to use "repulsiveness" as my guiding light and not use such the aforementioned interpretative approach in the second half of the verse. (Whew) (Sorry ladies) Blessings

I plan to do a video on myth because what you ask is a common misconception. A myth is much more than a story or "fable" with a good message, but an explanation on the relationship with God that actually defines a people. They are incredibly important to culture and religion for the truth that they contain.

This explains a lot. When you look at Genesis 2:24, it sounds like the man is meant to lead the woman but the woman has full say over which man she chooses to lead her. Which incentivizes her not to devalue herself, she needs to see her worth and reject men who aren't good enough for her. And I also noticed, while you were talking, that the metaphor works to the church as the Bride of Christ. Jesus died for our sins but it is our consent that allows us into heaven. In other words, God allows His Bride the final say in the marriage and will honor our refusal, even if it means hell. Of course, Jesus is the head of the church, so we must submit to him, but that submission is entirely optional. In the same way, women are meant to find a man who makes submitting a joy, not one who violates her consent and demands his way.

To see what Paul is talking about here you just have to look to 1 Corinthians 11 verse 11, he makes a distinction between the world's view and the view of the LORD "woman is not independent of man nor is Man independent of woman"

I have thought about this topic before. Because of the verses in Bible like 'wives submit to your husband' or 'wives obey your husband' or 'wives respect your husband' I had wondered did God actually create women to be beneath men? Because if that's not the case then why not husbands listen to their wives as well or respect their wives in return instead of only love them. Or does she not deserve respect? Or why is the wife the helper which gives a meaning that she is subordinate to man. It slightly disturbed me. But after much thinking I came to the conclusion that, when Bible said 'wives respect your husbands and husbands love your wife' one cannot really love someone they do not respect... In other words, you cannot take respect away from love. So what is love according to the Bible? We need to look to 1 Corinthians chapter 13 which says 'Love is patient, love is kind. Love is not boastful or arrogant. Love does not insist on its own way. Love endures all things.' It is clear from these verses the deep respect involved in love according to the Bible. And regarding wife being a helper, isn't Holy Spirit said to be our helper in the New testament? Certainly Holy Spirit is not below creation when God said that Holy Spirit will be your helper. Also wives having to veil themselves during prayer to show man's authority is over her... I felt veiling was something customary to Jewish women and probably even in other cultures at those times. And I think a customary practice may be left to the discretion of the individual for these times. Some of the things that were prevalent during those times were given some regulation in the bible. For instance, slavery. In the Bible in the N.T, slaves were asked to obey their earthly masters and the earthly masters had to treat the slave as a brother and not beat him because everyone is free in God's law. Note, that St.Paul did not say slavery should be abolished. It was widely practised in those times, probably in some remote parts of the world even now. So St. Paul only gave some instructions regarding the relationship behavior between slave and master. That the slave should obey and the master should not ill-treat or beat him. Which almost makes them like worker/hired hands and employer type relationship. But since people of God received better understanding (I believe God moved some people's heart in this matter to make necessary changes) slavery was abolished. Likewise regarding the husband and wife relationship as the brother said in this video, that after the fall of mankind, we see the husband asserting dominance over his wife by naming her and such an unequal relationship starting from the fall of man through all these generations, St.Paul's instructions to wives are to be understood in that context... In the beginning God created one man for one woman but we see later in the old testament that so many men had multiple wives. God did not punish them or reproach them for it. But clearly that is not how God meant it to be. And as time passed, again God made necessary changes regarding it through man. Some of the things happened in the old times because of man's hardness of heart, which is why Moses said you could just write a certificate of divorce and dismiss your wife but when Jesus came he said he hates divorce! And apart from reason of unchastity, man or woman should not divorce at all. So some of the instructions given in the Bible are to be understood in such context. Especially because of the verse 'submit yourselves to one and another out of Love for Christ' it's clear that woman is not inferior to man. I had thought about all these for sometime now. But since it was just my thoughts, I wasn't sure if I'm right or wrong in thinking so. But listening to this gave me assurance that my thoughts were not wrong. In fact I got a deeper understanding about it. Thank you brother and God bless you. 🙏

Well, I wish to quote something I heard from a Franciscan brother of mine which greatly complements your views in regard to the equality of women. "Woman was but created from the side of Man, from the rib which was not replaced but only patched with flesh. This figuratively tells that women are equal with men: equal in honour, dignity and likeness with God. At the same time, she is that unique rib that can’t be replaced. Thus, a woman becomes not the supplementary sex but complementary one."- Br. Nirmal, OFM

Just look at the Virgin Mary. God didn’t tell her she was going to give birth to Jesus, He asked her. Therefore clearly women are treated equally with God.

I kind of feel it’s dangerous to say a particular verse applies only to a particular culture or time if that be the case then people could argue that lgbt lifestyle is acceptable in today’s culture and time. If certain behaviour is prohibited and that’s acceptable in that age or culture then what’s changed now? If you seek what God says about it Genesis 3:16 To the woman he said:I will intensify your toil in childbearing;in painYet your urge shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you. There might be some reason that is unknown behind this What really intrigues me is the original priority in the Holy family Joseph being the head of the house and Mary as being the wife would be subordinate and Jesus as being the child the least in authority but in the eternal life the roles are all reversed Jesus is God, Mary is the Queen of all Angels and saints and then we have St. Joseph i dunno if this is right understanding theologically but i feel all these roles of authority are temperal for after death we all would be like angels and so are spirits and hence may not have gender roles And then we have Jesus telling if anyone wishes to be the greatest let him be the servant of all. If there is genuine love 1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, there shouldn’t be a question of who is superior or who is inferior.

David Russell I suggest you re-read our Holy Bible. Lots of heresies going on in your comment. Remember that pro-creation is the reason for intercourse between MAN and WOMAN. Anything otherwise is fornication which is a MORTAL SIN. “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) Am an ex-homosexual who was saved by the grace of God. God bless.

You do have to admit, Br, what reaction were you expecting from this one. Guaranteed to get lots of attention. But yes, the hanging question really quickly becomes are the same “culture at the time” rules teachings also applicable to the later sacraments.... or is ordination rightfully really restricted to one gender. The story of Lilith does seem to up, and it does honestly seem to be a very later addition of popular mythology to the scripture.
