Did Foxconn’s Trump-Backed Move to Wisconsin Create Jobs or Catfish the Public? | The Daily Show
Комедия
Since the last election, Trump has been a big proponent of the Taiwan-based electronic manufacturer Foxconn's opening of a massive factory in Wisconsin, promising thousands of new jobs. But millions of taxpayer dollars and zero manufactured goods later, it seems like the people of Wisconsin have been Fox-conned. Ronny Chieng investigates. #DailyShow #RonnyChieng #Wisconsin

Pretty normal cooperate behavior. Con a town into big development spending or tax breaks. Build less than promised/bare minimum then leave asap or as soon as the contract ends. Don't let this happen to you! pay attention to your local leaders and yell at them when they go for that cooperate cheese.

In a county just north of Cartersville, GA, the board decimated existing standards to allow smokestacks and massive 24-7 trucking on a two-lane road despite well-organized and vehement opposition from the community. At one meeting we were asked "to call them chimneys because it sounds cozier" by one of the company reps. The commissioners involved, despite family ties there going back for several generations, simply moved on to more expensive pastures with some newly acquired wealth. And that's just what they publicly admitted to.
So basically through eminent domain a lot of people lost their houses and property for nothing
In Wisconsin, just advertise with an inexpensive 5 second ad, played every hour everywhere. "Wisconsin, Remember FoxConn." Put it on Billboards, lawnsigns. Nothing more need be said.
Someone should ask former governor Scott Walker how much he got out of the deal.

Classic Trump: the art of a deal - promise whatever you want knowing that someone else will deal with the consequences because nepobabies are immune to responsibility or logic

Wisconsin loves Trump, says Trump. I am sure the people who lost their land to eminent domain would argue with that lie.

Several outlets reported this years ago, there are several KZread videos about this from news networks, even down Microsoft coming, and Biden talking about how Foxconn was the investment that never was, it was a thing.
Thank you Ronni Chang, absolutely great piece I kinda love the comedic style and it’s actually impressive how relaxed and comedic the interview with Foxconn was (I don’t think that’s an easy thing to do)
This only happened because the village officials wanted it. These officials said newly built homes were ‘blighted’, which allowed them to take the land and give it to Foxconn. If Mt. Pleasant didn’t want Foxconn, it wouldn’t have gotten off the ground. The trustees mentioned in the video are simple folks without any impressive qualifications. Some run with minimal to no opposition in the village election. On top of that there were just a handful of very young village employees who helped push this through. Trump and Foxconn didn’t push people out of their homes, it was Mt. Pleasant, 100%. Many stories online about it.
