It's a touchy subject that's for sure! I genuinely think she has a ton of ability. She drives the hell out of all kinds of race cars and honestly to me, doesn't have to prove anything. If she was in a JGR or RCR car I'd probably feel different but she's doing her thing and is a great inspiration for many females and that's cool by itself to me. As for Sheldon I feel the same. The wins are so close, and I have no doubt he can get it done!

I wouldn't say she is a bad driver as she can wheel everything from a micro sprint on dirt to a 3200 lb car on asphalt. With that said, I'm not sure NASCAR is where she should be focused on. Obviously this is where most drivers want to be but I'd like to see her open her options to run full-time in another series where she could compete for wins. Unfortunately for her I think any series she would run would come with high expectations.

GOOD drivers win period! She’s not good, she won on a shirt track in arca where she dumped her own teammate on the last lap,,,,,wow anyone can do that! It’s very simple,,,,WIN or at least compete for a good finish and all the critics will shut up! Just because your last name is deegan doesn’t make her fast. She consistently runs in the back and only advances when attrition or wrecks take out her competition.

Hailie has one of the strongest fan bases of any driver in Nascar. I guess you can only be as good as the car and team provided, but Hailie was in a top truck ride last year and we all know how that turned out. I honestly think she should have stayed in ARCA one more year. Her only saving grace is if RFK starts an Xfinity program in 2025 and hires Hailie, the talent is there, she just needs to be with a better team. Hailie has to be careful, there are a few female racers coming up through the ranks that could surpass her in the next few years, one that stands out is the 2023 Xtreme Outlaw Midget Champion Jade Avedisian, her stats from racing quarter midgets, micro's, and midget's is very impressive. She's fully funded right now by Toyota and she has some quality sponsors on board and seemed to be in it for the long haul. Lots of people associated with Nascar have spoken highly about Jade and lots of Nascar teams are keeping a close eye on her progress in the Toyota GR Cup Series. She's supposed to make her ARCA debut on August 18, 2024 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds dirt track driving for Venturini Motorsports.....

  • @thatracingshow

Venturini is a great ride that supports female drivers! I think that is a testament to the all female pit crew he had. I crewed for Bill in the early 90's and those ladies would still show up at certain races years after that deal. I believe Hailie has not been in the right circumstances yet even though she did have a solid truck ride. The pressure to perform has got to be extreme on her. She has ability, I just hope the resources don't dry up for her before it ends her NASCAR opportunities. I'd like to see her step back to a lower series and use her sponsor money to grab 4 or 5 races with JGR and then it would be safe to say whether she can make it in NASCAR or if other series would suit her better.

She has the ability. I know for most it's easy to say she doesn't but I'd like to see what she could do in a solid Xfinity ride. At least for a few races. People said the same things about Jeffrey Earnhardt until he did his stints with RCR and JGR. In my opinion she should step back a year. Run ARCA, CARS Tour or something along those lines and use her sponsor money to buy 5 or 6 races in a JGR car. If she turns heads in those races she can rebound her future. If not then maybe accept NASCAR isn't the right fit and go run dirt across the country and have fun.

I am a fan of Hailie Deegan. Your reluctance and avoidance of controversy about her are funny and well taken. Your take on most things is honest and logical. And that is appreciated. But. 30th or worse? How many was a direct cause by her? Dover is the only one I can point to. 1. Daytona. Pushed into a wreck. 2. Pheonix. Ditto and told to drive back to the pits under a red flag. Thats an auto DQ DNF. 3. Richmond. Lost all electrical power. 4. Darlington. Another car cut her left rear down. 5 and 6. Portland and Sanoma. Electrical problems again. Also 8. N-H. The 21 dive bombed and made it 4 wide and she got bumped and hit the outside car. Brake problems at COTA. Fuel strategy at Atlanta, Vegas and Charlotte cost her better finishes. So how many times this year has she caused a wreck or lost control on her own and wrecked. 1 maybe at Dover. So, stats do lie if you blame everything solely on the driver. Also. How old is Moffit and how much more experience does he have on her. Her fans are loyal because they like her. Now look through all the comments and see who are truly NASCAR fans. I believe a true NASCAR fan loves a good race. They hope their favorite driver wins but congratulates someone else if they do. They don't hate any other driver or wish ill will toward them. Most of the hate comments are not fans but someone begging for attention. If someone likes my comment, there is a button to hit. If ankle biters respond. They are looking for attention.

I agree, there are so many details to a 30th or worse finish and for most they don't consider circumstances. I just tried to collectively break down the stats for all the drivers included in this equally and not around individual circumstances for times sake. One thing I know is people who hate will still hate even if a driver does good. If Hailie was to win on a superspeedway this year people would say anyone can win on a superspeedway, so I get what you are saying. Unfortunately in today's world, controversy attracts people. They love it. Probably holds my show back since I try my best not to bash drivers like a lot of others on here do. I respect them, I see them around town, on sets and at the track. I see them as people doing a job they love and trying to be the best at it. So I can't hate on someone for that. Thanks for your comment! I like good race chatter like this!

@@stubby2822 I agree with that as well. I know a lot of older fans don't like the new NASCAR and I can understand that on certain levels. With that said, being at the track, in the garage etc. it's still the same feel. A lot more technical obviously, younger drivers and many changes but it's still that same vibe. She could kick 3/4's or more of the Xfinity driver's ass on dirt. I just think it's been misguided so far in her NASCAR career.

It's unfortunate to so many of these kids these days that they just get pushed along so fast and have expectations pushed on them as well. I think that's where they lose so much focus because suddenly it's not all about racing anymore. Now it's publicity, commercials, photo shoots, appearances then on the weekend, oh yeah you need to race as well. With Hailie being a bright, bubbly personality I'm sure her schedule is crazy.

Good video. I’ve competed and coached in elite sport and I think it’s completely fair to critique athletes as long as it doesn’t move into the personal. It’s not hating. I also think a results sheet does not always tell the full story, particularly in motorsport where equipment is king. My report card Sheldon Creed B + needs a win as he’s in very good equipment. Deegan C- a little hard to tell how bad the car is and her performance. Her speed on road courses has been very poor (3/4 seconds a lap slower than SVG at COTA) and perhaps not aggressive enough on the super speedway’s where the playing field is level. Josh C+ getting better as the year has progressed and is doing well in road courses. Would have finished top 10 at Sonoma if no crash. SVG A What more could you seriously expect considering his experience and Kaulig are not the best car out there. The comparison to Hemric was interesting. How many years has he been in the game?

Good analysis, so thanks for your input. One of the reasons I like to include former or current drivers in the same equipment to evaluate. Certainly a lot of factors that go into each individual season that attribute to stats but collectively with 15 races in it gave a progress report or lack of based off finishes. Hemric has been at it for years with Cup and Xfinity. There are so many aspects that could go into an episode like this it could easily be an hour long piece.

Now that she's in a big pond with competitive teams and equal talent, it falls back to discipline and being a keeper to hone talents. She may have came in a sharp blade, but she isn't cutting up the competition, and appears dull or used as a hammer or a screwdriver She was riding the monster sponsorship wave but that has dried up
