Dismantling a flawed but useful institution is like buying a new car when your current one starts showing engine troubles. Why do people say this... it's in Vienna a lot of the time, Nairobi, Geneva is the other headquarters, and obviously the Hague; but, why do you think the outcome would differ if it weren't in NY? Also, I could agree it's not fit for purpose, it's bad at dealing with irrational actors, there's no economic enforcement mechanism, and having permanent seats on the security council has lead to inaction in two conflict now in 2 years. Liberalism assumes member-states acting within rational self-interest. You know they've (the UN) made decisions against the US, right? I'm not even sure what you mean to be honest, you know the Treaty Act would crumble if the UN did..? Usually countries with secret stores of neutron and nuclear weapons that haven't signed the NPT and aren't a part of the IAEA, and maintain an ongoing occupation (as the rep said, "defined boarders") would not be allowed to engage with the systems of int'l trade and diplomacy... It's embarrassing that of the liberal democracies of the world, Iran has acted most like what you would expect from a rational actor.. Are you kidding me all those different factions can’t even get it together, not without fighting each other for dominance. That’s why they can never do anything together and here’s the best reason to never allow them to join the UN, the October 7 attack, And the misuse and appropriation of UN funds for starters, and the inability to support their citizens. They use the money to pay monthly stipends to the terrorist families, that money needs to be spent on infrastructure and building up the economy. They are a sad excuse for a would be nation.
