the concept i think is fine. but the execution. there wasnt much buildup leading to ai chans reveal to the gang and breaking the 4th wall. it just came out of nowhere at the very very end. and it felt rushed and like a concept that the writers tried to force in.

I wish to reiterate some things that I feel I did not make sufficiently clear in the video. This video IS NOT meant to undermine the opinion of the people that didn't like the 4th Wall Breaking in Chapter 35. As I said in the video, it's ok not to like it! It's also important to voice your opinions and dissatisfaction and nobody has any right to tell you otherwise. My intention with this video is to point out that, no matter if you liked the ending or not, I believe that there was true passion put behind it by HoYoverse. As a player, I really appreciate and think that's important to recognize. They might have missed the mark for some people, but I am really excited and hopeful for the future of the story and the game. Thank you!

My opinion on the story is still: They screwed up the beginning the pacing Was horrendeus But they started gettingvthe curve with ch 33/34 and i think zhey rocked it in ch 35 It had a rough start but they made a beatiful ending in my eyes Like you said they put in so much love and passion and in my opinion it absolutely paid off

I do believe that the developers put a lot of thought and care into elements of the finale, but that doesn't negate the many issues I have with it. Breaking the fourth wall at that point felt cheap, but the simple act of doing so wasn't the /only/ reason why it felt cheap. Kevin's arc was much weaker than Otto's, and everything surrounding the Herrscher Trio felt rushed. In the later chapters, too much focus was given to long expository dialogues centered on theoretical physics while more emotional moments (such as the reunion with Seig) were given much less time. This means that while it's possible to understand a lot of what's going on, it's less easy to actually care about it. Also, Kiana being trapped on the moon (while fully able to communicate with her friends and with them able to visit her at will) doesn't feel like the big sacrifice APHO made it out to be, and, in fact, feels tacked on in order to align APHO with the main story of HI3. To say nothing of the many, many unresolved character arcs we were left with. I don't have the same passionate hatred that some players do for the finale, but it was a definite step down from much of what HI3 had given me in previous arcs. I am hopeful that Part II will be a return to form and I'm looking forward to the big engine upgrade. I have a theory that the developers wanted to wrap up Part I at this specific time so as to give a 'fresh start' to people who might jump on HI3 after picking up Star Rail. It's good marketing.

I felt abit conflicted at first when they suddenly and directly mentions the captain hyperion, but after giving it some thoughts, I appreciate the meaning behind what they are trying to do. It's nothing too bad honestly, and i agree that they could have executed it better.

I mean isnt honkai is always about the philosophy of humankind existentialism in the vast universe? them literally questioning their own reality and existence and breaking the 4th wall is really fitting the theme

That is not what I consider a "sacrifice" lmao. Also; Elysia was already dead. Sacrificing a dead character again isn't a real sacrifice. I felt as much from that moment as I felt when the ER sims were dying, little to no emotion...

Once she siphons the Honkai from earth and starts integrating it as a part of humanity she still will be the only human like being that has a separation from the rest she sacrificed a lot having to stay on the moon.

@@JustEverton Kiana is alone on the moon, she wants to be reunited with Mei and Bronya but she can't, Kiana is unable to help as her power would destroy the earth and she has to watch Mei and Bronya fight another rworld ending threat, wdym? Elysia isn't just already dead, she had the opportunity to come back but used her second life as a sacrifise for the future's path to open, all because she wanted to be human, there are genuine costs in Hi3, like Himeko's death as a catalyst to Kiana's wake up call to reality's hardships, Mei learning to let go of Kiana and others and take care of herself, Elysia's love for humanity.

I liked it, however there are things that got bad because of it - Bronya loosing her time to shine by blasting Kevin with 11 Selene's

she had an entire chapter dedicated for her and she even said if she uses all her power she could blast that shield away but she will be out of the fight after, leaving mei and kiana against kebin she wouldnt even have the chance to make the shield and protect mei on that cutscene

Practically, I don't think so. 1st act of chapter 33(if I'm not mistaken) didn't focus on anyone really. 3rd act was more of a hare backstory. 2nd act was focused on Bronya but we didn't see anything TRULY MEANINGFUL from it. Like, yes, her childhood was terrible at every single turn before Saint Freya. We knew it already. In my opinion from the main trio her power up was the weakest in terms of storytelling. And she is my favorite. So it was kinda sad. PS: still love Honkai story in general, my point is - this chapter wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good for Bronya as following chapters were for Mei and Kiana.

@@anknewil-7135 eh We with mei and kiana saw how hard the life is in tundra planes during bronya's childhood that was the first time they told her story before the she became a full fledge mercenary and cocolia encounter so idk, Mei story has been weird af always harping about the FC's every dialogue even her Stigmata told her to stfu, Kiana didnt even had to do anything before she became the finality lol. Out of all bronya was the only one chasing hare and 300k people thoughts and out smarting the fight

Whether you like the 4th dimension break or not is varying according to how much it resonates within you as an individual. I personally attach so much to the characters and sometimes I feel like a parent watching their struggle in life while can't provide anything except watch their tales whatever happens. So when the story finally pulls me inside, I feel clicked. I feel like it's what meant to be. But of course that's just me, you're free to take your own interpretation and approach it how you like. At the end of the day, we're here cause we love this game. We like it or we criticize it cause we love the game. The fact that we all reached this part of the game is proof that we all love this game, no?

I don't know if you discussed this in a different video, but I'm surprised you seemingly didn't mention Chapter 33's in-story discussion about stories at all. While also of course relating to Project Stigma and how dreams function in it, it also very heavily leans on the 4th wall, sort of self-acknowledging that Honkai Impact itself is a story, because the tales of humanities literally are stories and whatnot.

I absolutely understand where the devs were coming from, but it's just insane to suddenly make the 4th wall break plot relevant. Since the beginning of the main story the players were just observers. We had Captainverse for a reason. I still can't believe they decided to throw away good writing for this and I freaking hope they stay faaaar away from it in Genshin and Star Rail. You can thank the players in maaaany different other ways.

Too late about that in Star Rail, there is a surprise character there that breaks the 4th wall and effectively became the Deadpool of HSR. The execution is better though because it blindsided the players in a good way and adds more mystery instead. Maybe this is why they both games share the "Honkai" in the title For Genshin, it is kinda there but really minor. The one of a kind Hilichurl which is a comedic self insert and Liben are probably the only the only 4th wall breaks I have seen.

After many years the story ended but only Part 1?! Don't know how old I am until the story truly ends

as always, well-analyzed, well-explained. thanks for your amazing work! it's always a great thing to know mhy wanna appreciate their community, not to mention it's the final chapter of the story after 6 years of struggle, but i also understand that the buildup was shallow compared to all other problems and foreshadowing resolved in ch.35. even so, the massive hate for cabbages―especially in the english twitter&tiktok community―for the most of time went too irrelevant, and ppl are just too shallow/close-minded that they're unwilling to calmly think over what the devs want to tell to the players through honkai salvation log and ch.35. in the end, the perception of what makes a story good or bad is very subjective. just like some ppl cringe on self-insert MCs, there are other ppl who cringe on MCs with too much unique traits or depressive past. what's important is too analyze and understand the intention of the writers, even tho you don't agree on them.

See us as higher being and a observer kinda reminds me to petton evering the main character of catacombs3d, he after his 3rd adventure obtain a staff with can control the time, and decide to observe and make sure his descendents (the main chracters of wolfestein and doom) beat the evil and dont die/fail in his missions, even if he have to rebobinate the time or interact somehow, once the character accomplish his mission, petton return to the shadows in his observer role. that´s is how i see the kanchou or better say "us" in honkai impact, thanks honkai impact and remember "fight and protect those beatiful things in this world"

For me, I wasn’t that surprised that Hoyo pull the ‘4th wall breaker’. It’s like the Ai-Chan’s interaction with us Captains and the whole event retconned the Chapter 35. It was pretty hilarious, but due to how players really love the game, it may have been the case. Edit: Can you also talk about the Concept and Philosophy of Herrscher of truth, and how she had gone through a metamorphosis, clearly accepting 300,000 people from the cores? There is a video I watched that the translation is NOT the ‘Herrscher of Truth’ but ‘True Herrscher of Reason’.

might be a bit late but i do remember him making a video about ch33 as a whole Also about the name HoTruth translation its meant to be a double meaning, the name works perfectly as we do use reason to reach a truth, so Truth being an upgraded reason or True Herrscher of Reason is just for the double meaning

Thank you for this, great video. While the final arc definitely has issues, I think that a lot of players were way too harsh when it came out and I think it all came down to not trying to understand what the story tried to convey. It even went to the point that some people were spreading misinformation or spoilers before the chapters came out in GLB which was pretty sad in my opinion. Hoping that in the future people will also remember the good moments that came with those chapters and the feelings behind it.

Well, Hacker Bronie from Captainverse also helped Kiana at one point there, so it all makes sense, in a way.

What a great video that doesnt only tackle last finale of part 1 and Ai lambda's role but the entire writing and style of mihoyo as a whole, it highlights the good and the bad in that style. As Homu said the unique style of writing they use might be a turn off for many players which i understand , but for me and many others it was amazing and we appriciated that they took a risky style with the writing. The mihoyo writing style was never perfect but always unique in its way, it has its own flaws and strong points, but one thing is sure its consistent like most of the chapters have similar strong points and flaws. Furthermore as Homu said, even the 4th wall breaks happen alot in multiple games its their style of writing, so imo one thing about mihoyo's writing is that its always consitent, even the explanation about how the captain is a higher dimesional being and qunatum superposition of Ai-Hyperion is still consistent with how they always explained and expected us to understand stuff with the most complex scientific theories. (mihoyo trying not to use scientific and philosophical concepts to explain stuff will never happen ig 😂) That said i fully understand why some people will still wont like it and its fair not everyone likes complex justifications like that in their story and the wall break might be immersion breaking to some, and heart warmming to others, and even good but needed a better excecution, imo all sides are understandable and justified. EDIT: I forgot to mention my opinion lol, ok so imo about this plot point and writing in general its the closest to perfect while being flawed at same time like a 8-9/10 removing much of my bias and a 100/10 cuz i miss Kiana🥲 Also Ai- Hyperion the title of this video is sadly underused outside of her time cystal ability regardless of her role in the story she is underused imo. Side note to Homu, an amazing analysis video as usual keep them coming.

I was pretty negative about the 4th wall break despite loving Ai Λ, believing it devalued everything the characters went through… But this video gave me a different perspective, and honestly, I love it now.

I saw my own comment in that attack..and i loved it! ❤ on the whole i really enjoyed this whole arc, it was a love story to us captains.. ❤❤❤

So as entities coming from a higher dimension similar to the CoF, we want to insert ourself into the story, just like how we read and play the game, and when the CoF did it, Mihoyo used that as a way to insert the player into the game through the dimension-breaking of the CoF, making it looked like a 4th wall breaking but it's also the player able to reach their hands into the plot and help the characters, by creating AI Lambda as a key to deliver our help to the Valkyries, am I correct at some point? Yes, it really needs a lot of brain to process everything to make it understandable, which I hope they won't do it again because geez, not everyone pays enough attention and has enough knowledge about theories and stuffs, everyone just wants to play a good hack&slash game with touching and loving stories, like me

Eh, the execution could've been better but I personally argue that they hinted Captain of Hyperion's and his fractured alter-egos even in the last chapters rather well, it's just the nods could've been more visible from Bronie appears to help Seele and the likes to get out of Sea of Quanta during the process of usurping and stealing Kevin's finality and prepping other plot devices and plot armours for Herrschers of Origin, Truth, etc Down to referencing the phenomenon of Odd Drifter where the original Hyperion ship suddenly disappears for awhile by Lambda Ai Chan, that's when Captain uses his consciousness mapping ability to drives into multiverses so often that it's the point where he accidentally split into multiple consciousnesses of said alter-egos during Odd Drifter phases (back since June 2019 and later in Summer 2020), Rita appears to accompanying Captain too, even way before Rosemary Floriograph event, and Rosemary Rita battlesuit appears in Chapter 17 (alongside a photoshoot of Dvalin), also Asuka once got carried by Kongming Theresa and Rosemary Rita after the end of Evangelion Collab event for a short while before being transported safely into her own universe, adding further to how complex Captainverse already beyond of the Summer Memories event, Tericula Event, Seele lost in Sea of Quanta and so many other ties converge and conflagrating altogether Also Captain having able to naturally breaking 4th wall so often from Winter Rhapsody event (where he references parodies of titles of other franchises), Valkyries' birthday CGs from 2019 and 2020, Valentines' Day 2020 (yes, Honkai Impact was Azur Lane with the Titular Captain and newer players denies it for their more recent shipping twitter fan-canon) and so on remarks how those who can breaks 4th wall are of different nature and even at times surpass the Principles of Honkai, including Lambda Ai Chan, Elysia (to limited extent), and March 7th (these three characters also happens to have motifs to be born out of Crystalline plane of existence too, akin to Fuli which obsesses over recording precious memories of any living beings), this on top of the developer confirmed that both Captain and Rita belongs to "Entities of Higher Order" adds to the stacks of puzzles and evidences of Captain's original nature, he's beyond just being placate of the players and descends beyond whatever defines "Honkai" as recurring antagonistic or detrimental force in almost every Mihoyo's games (IX Nihilus too is already steps beyond Honkai which makes Nihility beyond most Aeons and Finality's nature as "The Shapeless Prince") have so many things yet to be uncovered in future HSR lore to connect with HI3 regarding the Metaphysics and Cosmology of Mihoyo's multiverse Elio might be Captain Ferryman after seeing many suspicious patterns too, just to reconsider further many parallels, it fits so well with how much modus operandi Ferryman goes in Magical Teriri event and how Honkai Salvation address Captain of Hyperion would operates his gestalts even beyond his own conscious choices too, these ties are becoming pivotal of building the intricacies of the multiverse's Cosmology

5:02 It's sad that the name "Cap's Bizarre Adventure" never really catches on

Haven't watched the vid but they should've done more to explain her existence and specifically how "time" is in-universe. They already had the setup from Otto but nope straight to pseudo-time crystals and authority of time without clear tangible concepts for the average players to latch on to. The time just didn't align especially globally for them to do an additional EX chapter before HSR release which could've been used to elaborate further upon the whole "time" concept. Like sure go deep enough into science and sci-fi then you'll get that time is the "4th dimension" and entites of that dimension can travel through it (us playing and jumping back and forth between chapters) but c'mon, you can't just expect everybody to get it with how little build up it got. GGZ seems to have a bit more Lovecraftian approach to how it goes about (disclaimer i do not play it so i could be super wrong). Though i heard WoH there is a space divine being from another dimension so still got that space magic wave-off. While HSR got them space magic with the aeons being lime Warhammer 40k immaterium gods, though Lan being a thing makes me think more of the daedras of elder acrolls. Which leaves HI3 with the hard sci-fi and pseudo-science which tends to be harder to pull off without much proper groundwork laid down prior.

Fantastic video I I do agree there is some 4th wall breaking or meta stuff definitely plus the the documentary and rest of chapter 35 I saw recently make that clear too And I definitely do like the care mihoyo showed in said documentary was very moving But I still feel there could be more to ai Hyperion and ai something along the line of higher beings plus we saw the core key seemed to have more then just the meta stuff As for Edison I really hope they go over her more one day she is a very interesting character and plot point But then again it's mihoyo they usually come back to things eventually Good luck on your next videos and projects

I absolutly fine, you know. My life is kinda suck with work and so many stress full thing. Just know i am was canon in game is just like... Make me become important and feel good. But after all, the ending still same US all expected. Kiana in moon and finally Kevin die in piece, for me who was man who life with always feel lonely, i really happy Kiana can make him rest to know he not fight alone 🥰

The concept of Ai-Chan's existence is really interesting, Ai-chan was very well written in the chapters before of the 35. I understand what was the intention of the authors who used the breaking of the 4th wall to show us how the effect of the observer who is in a higher dimension can influence the actions of beings of a lower dimension I just think that its introduction in the story and the its concept was only poorly executed due to the writing, what I expected was something close to unlike what happened now with the hg2 R15 where you notice that despite using cliches they still maintained realism, perhaps what was missing in the 35 was more subtlety in transmitting the ideas, the captain who represents the player didn't need to be so openly associated with the player who plays hi3 and one of the things I liked the most about the captain is that he has a mind of his own and is a more alive character that the Adam of Apho. so instead of introducing the captain as the player, they could introduce as a transcendent being that along his journey through of the interaction with different realities he became something similar to an Aeon that represents the will of all the captains that exist through the different realities where they fight with honkai. After all many created a hyper thinking that something tragic would happen like the deaths of characters, the direct confrontation with the honkai entity... expecting the worst and in the end they received something unexpected that breaks all the hyper that they had created and for these and other reasons that I've been thinking about for a long time in not creating hypers for things.

actually, for this final part? since Seele got sent to the moon, i kinda half hearted following the story. because too many explanation that, i just like following the story by clicking it and still understand nothing. literally, my mind kinda become a cabbage itself. the only conclusion i have : my mind and brain cannot understand the high dimension knowledge because it stuck in low dimension world.

at first i was thrown off a bit when the 4th wall break came in, but I quickly learned to appreciate it! It was so touching!

The cocoon of Finality might be actual an Aeon from Honkai Star Rail called Terminus (Aeon of the Path of Finality). Aeons usually want to be embraced in SR by having followers and Terminus has the same Star-sigil as the cocoon.😮

If so, is it correct to assume HI3, HSR and GI all happen on a plane connected by the sea of quanta, while the honkai and possibly the Aeons are from a different plane connected by the imaginary tree?

It pretty show how Hyv really putting all of their effort in their game, it really touching to know it especially we the players in irls have witness the Story. That is a common misconception. Silver Wolf and Haxxor Bunny from HI3 are not the same person. This was confirmed in the Cosmic Warfare Event from CBT 3.

I swear most players that likes him mischaracterize his current self and think CE Kevin is the same as his past self back in PE when he's still have fighting spirit and hope in fighting the honkai, destroying herrchers left and right. I can't blame them since a lot of players learn about Kevin by reading his PE story after all. BUT all these time since he appears in chapter 12 it shows that he's just a tired broken man sure he's crazy strong but he's very very alone, he always speaks very somberly and coldly, he shows very little emotion. It really shows that there is nothing left for him in the current era. The only thing left unfinished is just his promise to Elysia and his mission to save humanity which he determined to finish and get his well deserved rest. Which he did get in the end.

With all due respect, I kindly demand my cabbage for understanding quantum concepts.

judging from Schrödinger in chapter 38, Kiana is also over the 11-Dimension. While Aeos actually are not over the 11-dimension (judging from Hoyostans: exploring the Hoyoverse)

the biggest problem i have with the ending is the lack of stakes. i have no problem with the fourth wall breaks, but the way they made kevin too op and had to use that trick felt just unearned and too fast. also. i feel like kiana just living on the moon was too happy. maybe if she had to stay in stasis on the moon or be idk in a coma from all the honkai inside her body, that mightve felt more deserving of the whole emotional animation that we got . and laso the way mei and bronya are mourning her as if they cant call her? that is what really made me disappointed in the ending

It feels like they changed it to Kiana just living on the moon, because APHO mei and bronya iirc were acting as if she was dead/sealed/gone forever/etc, but she's just chilling on the moon with her phone fully capable of sending texts and calls. My biggest gripe with the story tbh

@@riku861 Hell, she's casually gaming with Bronya from the damn moon and when describing it to Sieg she said it's like a vacations resort. There were zero stakes at the end - Kevin wanted death, they didn't allow Bronya to use up all her power to blow up his shields, therefore making it a 2v1 which would, maybe, feel threatening but instead they do it friendship-missiles from a character that wasn't supposed to exist in the main story. I can appreciate being thankful as much as the next guy, but they could just do it in credits with a small "You" or something.

@@gervoh To be fair, there wasn't gonna be any stakes, Kevin wasn't out to kill them; He just wasn't gonna let them have their way unless they could beat him. He wanted them to surpass himself; Kevin said it himself that Project Stigma is the worst plan, but as someone who witnessed what finality could do, Kevin believed it was the only chance to overcome Honkai. I personally liked Ai lambda's introduction, my only gripe was lessening the impact of Kiana's resolve to become the herrscher of Finality, because they made it seem like something bad was gonna happen to Kiana.

I actually thought the whole Ai-Chan thing was really cool, and sorta fit with the bubble universes theme, and it's as if we're in the story ourselves. How can a story exists if there's nobody is there to witness it? Just my opinion though. Sorta unrelated, but I absolutely love all your videos, you're the only person I know of who clearly and concisely explains stuff in Honkai. It would be really cool if you could go over all the GGZ lore and story, and its connections to Honkai Impact, because the game isn't playable in English anymore, and I really want to be able to experience/know all of the Honkai story.

The last game that affected me on a deep emotional level was an old adventure clicker called The Longest Journey around 2 decades ago. Honkai 3rd's story is the next. Truly much appreciation to the writers, animators, directors, music makers, and everyone else involved in creating the game. I can only hope that when Honkai 3rd finally goes offline, it can be saved or played as a single player experience for posterity. As it stands, the experience of playing it is about as good as an old school single player game at this point in time.

I just wanna throw some of my thoughts here, so... (HSR spoiler alert) Honkai in hi3 is a higher-dimension being that wants to insert itself into the world of hi3, ok, got it. So, what if Honkai is not this particular entity, and any higher-dimension being that wants to insert itself into the world of any mihoyo game or interact with it in any way can be called Honkai? It may explain why Honkai from ggz and hi3 seem to not be connected but share the same name (but I'm not into ggz, I don't know much about its story, maybe there already was some other explanation, so excuse me if I'm missing something). But it's not really my main point. What I want to tell here is that this may explain the "Honkai" part in the name "Honkai: Star Rail". For now there isn't really an excuse for "Honkai" being there. So, maybe what "Honkai" refers to in this name is the player. The mc of hsr is literally a perfect vessel for inserting the player into the story of the game and we already got a 4th wall break from Sampo which means that he knows about the player. He also interacts with Stellaron Hunters which may imply that they are aware of the player too. Maybe Kafka intentionally put the player into mc or something like that. It's either that the mc is an in-game avatar for the player or just a medium through which the player interact with the story and the world. This also explains why the mc in hsr is so special and how he can so easily interact with Aeons. Aeons are higher-dimension beings and they communicate with another higher-dimension being - the player. But maybe this is just us going crazy, and all that is not true.

To me its the execution, imagine if the self insertion happens at the start of part 1 finale and the main crew got introduced to us as a higher being that has been observing and wants to help because we acknowledge that the main crew cant beat kevin even after obtaining the power of finality, origin and true reason. And since the main battleship is broken we can introduce our version of hyperion naturally as well It just doesnt sit well with me that the main crew didnt even question who we are, what is our intention and immediately recognizes us when they board the hyperion Im happy that they acknowledged that they didnt hut the mark with part 1 finale and take that feedback while making the story of hsr

Tbh, Ai-chan didn't really ruined the story for me.

Good job as always, Homu Lab. And yeah Honkai Impact 3rd is not the best or the perfect game and it's have so many mistake, even now those mistake are not fix yet. But these days, they are still learning, step by step, they are just want time to fix and prove it (even 6 years now, some plot holes are not have good answers yet and those translate issues are not satisfied enough).

For me personally, the 4th wall breaking moments are the funniest and most hilarious when they put them on events not the main storyline. So yeah I thought forcing me to be a red-head man in the captainverse was the worst honkai could do story-telling-wise but here we are. I think seeing Kiana have her efforts and inner struggles be put on the back burner in her battle against Kevin so that they could insert us and make us feel important is an insult to her whole character progression. Kiana and Kevin have had to go through similar enough experiences, and the project stigma arc story was a way to see how similar yet different people dealt with it. It also felt like Elysia's sacrifice meant nothing because at the end of the day we can use this interdimensional observer powers to help us against Kevin... I also think that witnessing Kiana's journey since the 1st chapter already makes us relate to her without having to resort to breaking the 4th wall tactics. Depression, loneliness, loss, love, friendship, and family, we lived Kiana's life through her. Like it's not a joke when we say that we, as players, have collectively adopted Kiana. All in all, if they had left little hints here and there about the honkaiverse being a game since the beginning I wouldn't have had such strong aversion to this kind of turn, but as it is it feels like they scrapped the original ending for this one and quickly put the AI lambda event to ease us into it.

If Elysia didn't sacrifice, none of this would've been possible and captains can't affect the story directly, it is mainly AI and her authority, and she wouldn't have been born without project stigma

What I probably didn't like about the ending is how Mei and Bronya looking so sad like Kiana's gonna die or something when she's literally just up there chilling (literally? Idk) she even plays game with them and she's probably on late night calls with Mei every night. When I found out that she's gonna be fine, I was really happy because my tuna is alive but at the same kinda disappointed because they basically baited the whole playerbase into thinking that Kiana's gonna die since Mei and Bronya were acting like they lost a friend in APHO.

I wouldn't be surprised if one day mihoyo team announced that they were the higher being who has observed that world and they were trying to convey there story here through game

What I didn't like was they didn't emphasize kevin story that much. And also the final battle was dogshit imagine fighting a 9999 shielded boss man that'll be epic. I do know that the story revolves around us and not the (villain) but he played a large part of the story and the cutscenes would be much better if it was in the final battle to the ending that way a lot of characters not just mei, bronya and kiana.

I kinda figured we, the captain, are like Aeons or Primodial One. We watch and interact at times, and Ai Chan and Elysia knew we were there. I didn’t hate it. I started the game during Ai Chan’s fix the game event and I was super confused but played it so I could get Raiden Mei. Lol.

I mean, it seems pretty much like a standard command structure really: Finality is the CEO (Civ), President/Leader (Political) and-or General/Leader (Miliatry) of the Herrschers who grants the lower positions their roles, defines what powers those roles have, and more or less has the final say on most matters (Finality). Meanwhile Origin is the CEO's VP/Personal Secretary, Vice President and-or Lieutenant General who is charge of handling the day-to-day matters and enforcing the will of Finality, exerting command authority over the lower positions/ranks when needed.

I'll be honest, as much as I appreciate thier intentions on the 4th wall break, the way Honkai is structured, the 4th wall break feels out of place. The captain wasn't even mentioned and didn't exist in the main story until part 1's finally, which is why it felt out of place and ruins the story. If the Captain can interfere within the main story, then why did they allow some events of Honkai to happen like Himeko's death? If Honkai Impact was structured like PGR where the captain is a duotagonist along side with Kiana, then the 4th wall break wouldn't be bad and the game's message to the players would have left a bigger impact IMO. I can respect anyone who likes the 4th wall break, but don't expect some players including myself to call Honkai's story a masterpiece after that failed 4th wall break with good intentions.

It has good intention, but after the writer basically exclude Captain out of the story progression, I feel dejected all the time. Like the captain is just non existence all the time already, many accepted that and keep up with the story of the trio, while pp like me who want to imagine myself as the captain of Hyperion can no longer enjoy the story the way I want anymore. So when they did this 4th wall break, it’s like “oh I forgot about the captain. Let’s try to put the captain in th story, somehow”. It feels a bit forceful. They could just finish the story without the captain because it’s too late to put the captain to this already. Like you said, in PGR Commander is also contributing with the story progression so it feels natural. So tldr, I feel like that 2nd child who is non existence, and when they tried to remember me, it’s too late already.

I loved Lambda in the last chapters :) Tbh i couldnt care less about the plot or meta storytelling, i just care about the characters and the feels. Very good video though :)

So what you saying is… not only Players we’re LITERALLY a Deus Ex Machina but also that miHoYo treated its player like a divorced husband? Captains were excluded from the story yet brought up at the last moment is the equivalent of your divorced wife one day calling you and saying thanks for all the child support you payed before hang up the phone. Tbh I think the 4th wall breaking was too much. I didn't mind it in the event but I think the moment I was checked out was when Ai Lambda addressed us directly before changing back to Ai and getting the huge battleship. So I guess what I'm saying is the foreshadowing killed the hype for me in the battle with Kevin. Plus I'd just seen more impactful moments in other games (imo) where 4th wall breaks were used more sparingly and with greater effect (Nier Automata, even KH3). I think for me, not knowing it was coming really helped.

The concept of Ai Lambda becoming Mme Administrator is the same as the Elysia when Mei got the power of Origin. That Elysia was not supposed to know about Mei but bc Mei had encountered her digital consciousness the 2 overlapped creating a miracle for these 2 characters

I kinda fell on the way side. I didn't find it a bad moment or deal breaker, but neither was it a high note. Kinda a lateral move as far as I saw it. It could have simply be support from the people they swayed to their side in "Stigmata Space". Instead we have Lambda gathering support from Captains via spreading the story across different timeline aka Salvation Log. Both are sufficiently built up to that point and it's only a matter of what the writer opted for.

Personally I find it fits within the lore when you replace the Capain with the original Ai-Chan, who has been on the hyperion the whole time and experienced everything the same way a captain would have, and replace the narrator (including the one that speeks with Ai-Hyperion) with Finality.

personally i think it's basically the same idea as the traveler and the trailblazer but a touch more meta than they are personally i don't think it ruined anything especially considering otto looked into what might have been teyvat it's not impossible to believe that a higher dimensional observer exists in the honkaiverse

So you're telling me that the entire game is a big and elaborate shitposting platform????? Jokes aside, this exactly aligns to the way I interpreted the story. It is very clear that miHoYo has always put effort into their projects, else why are we getting these contents at all? Free Concerts that is watchable on youtube, animated shorts, shitton of freebies with varying amounts, Game events that sometimes are quite funky and is ridiculous even, and their various stories from events (that sometimes wall breaks) and the current main story. It has always been their way of acknowledging us players because we were there consuming their content. It doesn't matter whether or not you or I or others liked or dislike it, its there and it happened and they are thanking us that we still play their game. Because, whatever kind of player you are, Whale, free-to-play, casual spender, or min-maxer we're still playing the game, if we the players are gone, what's the point of them creating content? Even if it was bad content, they've always responded to us by adjusting content that we get every new patch or so. So yeah, its okay to like or hate various things, but the only problem I see here is that players are quick with discrediting and oversimplifying what is actually there in order to justify their opinions. And this debate of Chapter 35 isn't an exception, they've put effort into this, and well these players liked it and some definitely didn't like it. That's just how it is, and no need to be going after each other's throats. Some just don't see the real reason to it and whether or not they want recognize that reason is up to them.

16:03 From a few stories I've heard from the CN fanbase I'm more concerned that MHY had become more of a "slave" to their expectations bc they can't afford to lose their fanbase and thus income (and their documentary video makes this part clear) Them saying that "this journey is one that we created together" has more... dark undertones I really fear that they're not at their absolute "freedom" to tell the stories the way they wanted, bc of things beyond their control... and knowing that they're "not at their absolute freedom" kinda hurts my enjoyment cuz I know they're meant to made "so much more/different things" were it not for their situation Though at the end of the day, I am standing on the side that wants MHY to have absolute writing freedom, while some others are standing on the side that wants them to be acknowledged & have influence within the story. I can't say I'm "neutral", nor can I say that my view is better than the other one

So does that mean WE are the cocon possessing the power of time ...? Besides, wasn't it the will of the honkai who granted herscher powers ?

Will of Honkai is a restriction that PE inserted to the Cocoon of Finality by Pardofelis at the cost of her life to make the Herrscher follow the same pattern as in their era so the the current era can use the experience of the PE to combat them.

I personally didn't mind Lamda's inclusion. I grasped onto Hoyo's intention pretty quickly when experiencing the story and truly appreciated their sentiment. However, I do agree that the execution could've been handled better. Some parts broke up the pacing flow of the main narrative too much, thus making it feel a bit awkward at times. Overall though, I still think this is the best story I've experienced in any videogame over the past 20+ years of gaming. Despite some of it's shortcomings, I consider it a masterpiece. Thank you Hoyo, no other game has been able to make me cry as much as this one... while also leaving me filled with so much hope for the future.
