Oh, not another take
Oh, it's like that, I'm your dream come true
When it's on a platter for you
Then you pull back, when I try to make plans
More than two hours in advance, hmm
I slam the door, I hit ignore
I'm saying, no, no, no, no more
I got you blocked
After this, an afterthought
I finally cut you off
I feel so much lighter like a feather with you off my mind, ahh
Floatin' through the memories like whatever
You're a waste of time, ahh
Your signals are mixed, you act like a bitch
You fit every stereotype, send a pic
I feel so much lighter like a feather with you out my life
With you out my life
Like a feather, like a feather, like a feather, yeah
It feels so good not carin' where you are tonight
And it feels so good not pretending to like the wine you like
I slam the door (slam the door), I hit ignore (hit ignore)
I'm saying, no, no, no, no more
I got you blocked, excited to never talk, I
I'm so sorry for your loss
I feel so much lighter like a feather with you off my mind, ahh

You're a waste of time, ahh
Your signals are mixed, you act like a bitch (a bitch)
You fit every stereotype, send a pic

With you out my life
Ahh, mmh
(Do-do, do-do-do, do-do-do, do-do-do)
Like a feather, like a feather, like a feather
You want me? I'm done
You miss me? No, duh
Where I'm at, I'm up where I'm at
You want me? I'm done (I'm done)
You miss me? No, duh (no duh)
Where I'm at, I'm up (I'm up) where I'm at
You want me? I'm done
(I feel so much lighter like a feather with you off my mind)

I never realized this before, but when Nightwing asks Brion whether he's a man perpetually looking back at what he's lost, or a man looking forward at what he could become, that question encompasses the differences between Batman and Nightwing. Batman is a guy who's perpetually stuck in the past, still being a kid whose just trying to stop two bullets. In contrast, thanks to Batman's intervention, Nightwing is not stuck in his past, but perpetually looking forward. That's why, in the comics, Batman is still beating up bad guys, while Nightwing has been trying to do more and help people become more than just safe.

He funds healthcare research and in established canon practically offers free healthcare. He funds work release programs to help criminals get off their feet. And even more to the list. I don't disagree Batman is perpetually stuck in the past, but Batman is still someone who tries to help, if you can't see Batman comforting a child then you just wrote a bad punisher.

@@theninjamaster67 fr man. batman’s story arc is by far the most in depth in terms of story, character development, and personal reflection. batman knows himself so well that he knows he wouldnt stop killing criminals if he started. this also is such a good dilemma in some batman stories where criminals (joker mostly) will point out that batman won’t kill them to stop the continuous murder and pain. this is an unbelievably underrated idea that really hasn’t been explored enough. i like to think that batman also knows himself well enough to know how to train the sidekicks to not be him. dick is humorous and cracks jokes while fighting people, tim is optimistic. jason is the one sidekick that i consider to be batman’s carbon copy. like batman says jason is his worst failure. not because of how jason turned out, but rather because of how batman was unable to save him from himself. dick had trauma that was able to be healed whereas jason never got that resolve so he held onto his anger and hate until it boiled over into the death in the family arc. the character of batman is without a doubt one of the best written characters because of the philosophy, dilemma, and pain that it involves.

The reason why he hasn't been done properly seems to come out of a fear that the mainstream who doesn't read comics or watch animation will go even harder after them than the backlash Batman returns got. Using Damian is simpler you get around the moral dilemma of bringing a child into crime fighting because the child in question was raised in a cult of assassins. So they can use the excuse "Bruce can either keep an eye on him during missions or know he will just go out on his own with no problems of killing since that is what he's been trained his entire life to do." I'm curious though as to how big the bat family will be. And I hope they don't make the mistake Titans did where as Robin and Nightwing he's just a slightly tweaked version of Batman. I understand what they were trying to do, they even have a backflash episode where Dawn literally tells Dick to be Batman when they want revenge on Deathstroke, the problem is he kind of seemed like he was already on his way there and instead of changing when things went wrong, stuck to it.

He was the one who kept it cool and give Artemis the harsh truth of the situation. "Get traught or get dead." He never forgets what he's getting into. The laughing and jokes aren't because he's immature. He understands the risks always, and he accepts them with a smile on his face. He has to remind Artemis that he's been doing this since he was 9.

When dick and Batmans relationship is displayed properly its *chefs kiss* perfect. In the end, batman saw his failures laid bare in dick (his mission failed that day dick Graysons parents died due to a criminal). In Bruce's mind he made a vow to help this kid to become a better man the same way Alfred did for him and in the end he did. It's why everyone in the league liked dick Grayson, its why in the second crisis dick Grayson was the rallying hero and Bruce's defacto answer to earth 1 supes that "if my world sucks then is your dick Grayson better than mine?", and it's why of all the members of batman life the only 2 people who can authentically bring out the real Bruce its dick and Alfred

Something that doesn't get commented on much is how much of an influence Superman was on Dick Grayson. To talk about the young boy who grew up to be respected and beloved by the entirety of the superhero community, we have to remember that he grew up beside BOTH of the world's finest superheroes. Dick Grayson, son of heroes, had love from his parents, training and support from Bruce Wayne and Alfred, and moral guidance (and a wink of approval) from Clark Kent. He even adopted his adult superhero name from Superman's culture. Of *course* he became the best of the finest in the world!

Nah I personally think this it a pretty accurate representation of Dick Grayson. I just genuinely think they got it right, Dick and Tim do actually just share a lot of similar characteristics, as well as Dick did have a few similar characteristics to Jason when he was younger. Like he was sassy as hell 😂 I just think with more recent comics they have been trying to seperate the Robins more by their personality and because of that they have been taking and isolating certain personality traits or characteristics to only one robin. When a lot of them have always shared them. Dick was always intelligent, and a good detective like Tim. Always very reflective and would isolate himself sometimes. I mean that’s why he originally made the decision to become Nightwing. Dick always had a bit of violence at his core, and was always super sassy (especially in the og comics 😂) and would get angry all the time like Jason. I think they have done a brilliant Job with young justice of taking Dick for all that he is and has been over the years. I think they have really captured the heart and pin pointed a lot of what makes Dick Grayson Dick Grayson. Rather than what he has been pidgeon holed into a wee bit recently. You’ve also got to remember the current comics are Dick Grayson a lot older than he is in the show rn. I think they have done a excellent job capturing all that is Grayson. And I have always seen Tim and Dick as the most similar as robins. They have the most in common anyway. I think it may just seem like Dick has quite a few Tim characteristics because we don’t get to see too much of Tim in the show. I definately think that Teen Titans 2003 feels a lot more Tim Drake rather than Dick even though it’s supposed to be Dick. It’s kind of a mix of all three Tim, Jason and Dick in TT. But they kind of left it ambiguous in the show so I always just imagine it’s Tim 😂

DC has really been going all out with Nightwing these past few years and I love it. It seems like since the Rebirth event he has been spending more and more time in the spotlight. Leading teams during events and not just Batman tie-ins mind you, universe changing events like No Justice and Dark Knights Metal until eventually he was front and centre for Dark Crisis along with the Titans. DC has even begun to see him as the beating heart of the new DC multiverse. He's the guy Superman tells Jon to go to for advice, not any league member or Batman, Nightwing. He's better than Batman, Bruce helped him avoid becoming as dark and jaded and kept a light alive in his soul. Nightwing is the hopeful hero Batman wishes he could be, lacking the cynicism and paranoia Bruce struggles to overcome that leads him to be a loner and lacking teammate. To me Nightwing is the best of DC, the unwavering hope of Superman, and the peak human capabilities of Batman tied into one unstoppable force for good.

Nightwing is all Batman hoped "Batman" would've been. Balanced and introspective about both his identity (Grayson) and the mask, taking past pain as lessons to mesh within himself for future obstacles to come.

Dick Grayson went through the exact same thing Bruce Wayne did, he watched his parents die in front of him, and despite that, he still has a life outside of fighting crime. It's not everything like it is to Batman, while he still has his father's brilliant mind, he doesn't have his obsessions. Dick still has a life, he has relationships and he has the ability to look forward. Batman himself said that Nightwing was what he wanted Batman to be.

That circus episode in season one always gets me in my feels. Was a casual Jesse McCartney fan prior, but a diehard fan now after he voiced Dick Grayson.

I just wanted to say, that towel whip you threw in near the beginning made my day. Also thank you for putting out these videos week after week. Young Justice is probably one of my favorite super hero shows and I really appreciate you giving each character the deep dive they deserve.

This was a good video. The script was nice. The intro pulled me in from the get-go. The music was lovely, and the clips from show were placed perfectly. This video made me understand how much about Dick you studied. It must have been very hard.

So outside of these videos I haven't seen much of Young Justice. I knew Dick was voiced by Jessie McCartney and he does a good job but I can't help but hear Roxas from Kingdom Hearts whenever he speaks, especially as Nightwing.

On top of Wally's death, he also had to witness Barbara's (another childhood friend) brutal paralysis. It was never addressed in the show why he worked with her as Oracle but kept her secret even from the OG team members. This choice felt like he was being overprotective.

The reason why I liked the Robin from Teen Titans better is because this version of Dick Grayson is more onto the mission and becoming more like Batman… even he doesn’t seem to realize it.

Anaother amazing video, I definitely need to rewatch the series after this. I think you should do the roys, it makes for a compelling narrative; the world forgot the original and clone bas to face the fact that hes a clone but still as valid. Then do superboy because that would carry the same through-line of identity based off your mentor from this one and clones from the roy vid
