@@ilikechipotle5475 That's ... Not really the case ? Like, that's definitely Dick Grayson, there's the smarts, the snark and the acrobatics. Only thing "lacking" here would be how well he can lead, which he's a kid, so fair. The only thing I could say reminds me of Tim is the fact that he's part of the Young Justice, even tho it was founded later on by Tim, Kon and Bart and Dick founded the Teen Titans.

Batman and Robin's bat credit card flashbacks

Great things about YJ Robin: 1. He's hilarious. 2. He connects with others easily and willingly steps down to let Aqualad and Batgirl lead. Like a great teammate and leader. 3. He's a sensitive emotionally aware kid, never denying his own struggles with living up to "the Batman". (You can tell Bruce gave him a wonderful childhood and loves him like his own son.) 4. His personality is some of the best written in the DC canon. It's definitely more childish (as compared to let's say, Teen Titans who I love with my whole entire heart) but it's fun and different. It writes an excellent clash of still a kid but also shaping him as a leader. 5. He's just a great character!

The one thing I really like about Young Justice versus Teen Titans is that they openly discuss Dick’s desire to distance himself from Batman’s shadow, or worry about his approval, etc., whereas in TT it’s an unspoken thing that Dick has only very recently left the cave, and yet all of his really important lines sound like they could have come straight from Batman. It was a weird thing for them to have to dance around, so it’s more enjoyable for me to see Dick openly discussing what is objectively his biggest struggle: differentiating himself from his mentor.

TT Robin acts very little like Batman… And over time, he acts less and less so… Only thing is the quietness sometimes and his cape hugging Bats do sometimes.

@@Artryom Actually I would disagree that he doesn’t act like Batman in TT-I think all of his moments where his personal character is painted in its weakest light-his obsession with the mission, his hyper-competitiveness, his tendency to drive himself past the point of wellness causing others to worry, the way he buries his emotions instead of talking about them-are all traits of Batman. Batman’s bad traits. And usually his redemption at the end of a Robin-centric episode is him overcoming and moving past those roadblocks in his personality, becoming more than just his rules and endless drive. I think they did a great job of having Robin’s character struggle with all the stuff Robin would be struggling with having only recently struck out on his own after a falling out with his mentor, without being able to actually include Batman directly in any of the writing for that show. It shows Dick Grayson at a time when he hasn’t yet began identifying himself in part by all the ways he is different from Batman, whereas Nightwing in the comics for example definitely defines himself a lot by the ways he differs from Bruce.

@@Artryom also some of his good leadership moments in TT could definitely have come straight from Batman, in the sense that they’re good motivational words from a strong leader. So it’s not like he’s all Bruce’s baggage. He’s exceedingly capable. But you know what I mean.

In the episode where the League are discussing who to induct and they're talking about the team, when Robin comes up Batman mentions how Robin started so young because he needed to bring his parents killer to justice. Wonder Woman angrily asks him "So he can end up like you?" And Batman responds with "No, do he wouldn't." Because Batman doesn't want Dick to be like him either. Bruce never got justice for his parents murder and we've seen what that turned him into. He's done everything he can to ensure Dick doesn't end up like him.

The word “disaster” has a long and somewhat convoluted history. It has roots in French, old Italian and Greek. The word disaster actually means “bad star” so the opposite of disaster could in fact be “aster” which is of Greek origin and simply means “star”

Makes a lot of sense. Especially when a lot of cultures/ religion read into the stars and there outcome. Meaning that “a bad star” can be translated to “bad luck/ fortune”

Well, it's called Young Justice because it's supposed to be focused on the team. And since most of the OG members are Leaguers now, or on their own (or dead), I don't mind that much. Besides, there's plenty of awesome new characters.

One think I liked about Dick, an odd amount, was him disappearing and laughing, like he did against Freeze, and when he disappeared to go up to Cadmus

This show actually makes a point of it that Batman’s mentorship was to make sure dick didn’t turn out like him. Helping bring in his parents killers is why he is able to be upbeat

A part I left out is the reason it helps is because it let him move on, he got closure that Batman didn’t get and even if he were to bring in joe chill he’d still have the decades worth of pain and obsession that just can’t be fixed anymore vs dick who didn’t have to obsess over it for even a few months he got to move on and that’s what Batman cares about. Batman fights because he doesn’t want some poor kid to have their parents taken by some street punk who never faces justice because the city’s a corrupt hellscape, that’s why in the justice league cartoon what justice lord Batman says that gets through to him is that they created a world where no 8 year old boy will lose his parents because of some punk with a gun
