She is so relatable in terms of how she gets nervous, or overthinks her words, or gets lost in a train of thought. It was awkward at first to not have a celebrity be comfortable as they usually are, but by the end, I like her so much for the exact reason.

Yes! EMPATHY!!! So many in this country are lacking empathy! How can anyone be so hard hearted to not want to cry along with a child whose parent was just taken away because their papers weren't in order. How is it that it is ok to leave that child without a parent to care for them? Any day care in this country would be SHUT DOWN if they allowed a 6 year old child to care for an infant, but it is happening in detention centers every day! Where is the humanity in that???

@@IndiC327 hate is such a wasted emotion. I don't hate you for being insensitive to the plight of these people who work so hard to try to find a path to citizenship. You say they crossed the border illegally, but how do you know they didn't have a work permit that expired? How do you know they didn't leave their proof at home that day? I have a friend whose husband adopted her son, making him Christopher "Garcia" ( not putting his real name here). There happened to be another Christopher Garcia in the area who was a felon and my friend's son was detained because of mistaken identity. It must be nice to be a "know it all" like you, everything is cut and dried in your life. Some things are not THAT cut and dried, Chigger.

@@IndiC327 Actually a lot of the people being held and separated from their children went to asylum facilities in order to enter the United States. That IS one of the legal ways to enter the country. But no matter what, no child should be ripped from the arms of their parents. If you think that that's acceptable, then you have separated from your humanity.

This final season was heart wrenching.
My sister was one of the copy editors on Guerrero's book. She's never watched OITNB, but she knew I loved the show. I still remember when she called to tell me. My sister never got to meet Guerrero or anything, but she did get to copy edit her book! I was very impressed!
I am. 23 year old woman who came here at the age of two with my mom and my sister from Ecuador. My grandmother crossed the boarder and paved the way for us we came here legally as permanent residents it took a lot of time and money to do it. I admire all the immigrants i admire all the people who speak about this issue because not everyone can be as fortunate. My grandmother could of died crossing the boarder. I am a United States citizen today. The immigration laws break my heart and the people who say immigrants don’t pay taxes and they are despicable human beings makes me so sad. The ignorance and the hate in this world is truly heart breaking.

This season has ment so much to me, because of the immigration and detention centers. OITNB does show the light of the humanity in all people no matter race, religion or citizenship. Thank you so much Diane for being a voice for those who arent heard ❤
Yassss speak your truth Diane!!! Loveeee her🥰
Guerrero’s character is the primary reason we must help those who were brought over here through no fault of their own (their parents bring them over here as babies & get a midwife to forge a birth certificate). They grow up in the US, having no memory of their birth country, speak only English & know no one in their birth country. And we send them back for their parents’ crimes when they have done nothing wrong? Insane, insensitive country. That is what the US has become. It is no longer a beacon of hope, except for the rich & powerful.

Yes! Just recently a man whose parents brought him here at 6 months old was sent back to Iraq. He knew nobody there, did not speak the language, had type 1 diabetes and died because he knew nothing about how to survive there. How in the world can this be allowed? They literally threw him to the wolves. Some people commented that he was a criminal, had been charged with crimes. Maybe even convicted. How does that make it right, to put him to death for whatever transgressions he may or may not have committed? Immigration Reform Now!!!

The way OITNB, portrayed the immigrant was spot on. My mom was deported earlier this year, so it really hit home.
Trevor Noah, I love you. You are doing such a great job of using empathy to help this guest tell their truth, and bring an important fact to light: deportations hurt people. They ruin lives and families.
She lit up when Trevor asked her what her next plans were for having fun. I guess she too felt how he was throwing in his reservation, sudtly...!
I had no idea she wrote a book, but I can't wait to read it. I love being able to see the intellectual side of actors and their political beliefs.
