It featured Fossey’s favorite gorilla Digit, who was killed in 1977 by poachers. Fossey narrated the documentary in front of a live audience in Washington, D.C. in November 1973. While portions of the film were used in various TV specials over the years, it was only shown in its 13-minute entirety during the 1973 lecture.

I could not stop crying after watch Gorillas in the Mist. What an amazing, fearless, and powerful woman and movie. It's hard to even imagine someone getting up close with Gorillas like she did. So very sad that she was killed but she will never be forgotten!

I am here after watching the movie Gorillas in the mist 1998 She is a legend, indeed.
Rest in Peace Dian......😑❤️
What she did was magnitude of greatness toward a majestic endangered species animal. The African Mountain Gorillas. I love the film wonderfully presented in the silver screen and the performance of Sigourney Weaver as Dian Fosey was worthy the Oscar.
I just started to read a book about her and I already respect her efforts and attitude. Her voice is also amazing and modest.
I'm 12 years old and have been inspired by Dian Fossey and hope that I will be able to go out to africa one day and help the wonderful gorillas. You do not even no how much gorillas mean to me and you will see me at your camp one day, I promise. Most people say I may never be able to get out to the gorillas but i will tell you this, I will do anything to get out to the gorillas.

@camillerwanda5823 Has the murderer ever been found and jailed? Are there any detectives working on the case? Has it been found out who committed the crime ?
My new Idol
Dian Fossey was actually bludgeoned to death in her own bed. Many people suspect that it was poachers who were scared that all the attention she was bringing to conservation would stop their business.

Love her so much. My inspiration.
She was amazing. These are not animals. These are earths babies
Estas imágenes son oro puro
Dian Fossey went to Lowell High School in San Francisco. Several years later, a student named Joyce Matsumo went to Lowell High School. Joyce won a baby gorilla naming contest at the San Francisco Zoo in 1971, by suggesting the name Hanabiko (that means “fireworks child” in Japanese) for the baby, who was born on July 4. Eventually, her name was shortened to Koko. 🥰

@emmarose423 4 Koko the gorilla was lucky in a sense. She was an experiment to determine how much an animal can learn to communicate with humans. From what I best understand, Koko actually was going to be sent to a laboratory, or at least it was one of the things considered after the experiment was over but Francine Patterson who taught Koko sign language and worked with Koko decided to adopt her. Koko probably lived a happy life, as much as possible for a captive gorilla but she was still taken from her true environment.
God bless you Diane I didn’t even know that you passed away may the Lord be with you RIP 💯🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
This woman lived with gorillaz and she perfectly understood them. It was not about science, it was about feeling nature and protecting it

are you surprised? She was insanely dedicated and paid with her life for bravery and honour of helping our dear relatives, gorillas. She understood the ecosystem better than anyone, was laser focused on gorillas.
Jimmy Stewart's daughter.
A Great Woman. I wish she would have awakened before her attackers entered her hut in Rwanda. She was armed with a 9 mm and other weapons. She would have dealt with her murderers and poachers.
This footage reminds me of the movie, Gorillas in the Mist, also about Diane Fossey's life.
