Just went onto their website to find some more info on the conservation. Ended up finding some devastating news of the park rangers/employees who were attacked by an armed rebel group and had lost their lives while on the way to headquarters. The world is a cruel place :(

No, humans are cruel..........We are Great Apes ourselves, and rather than see ourselves as caretakers of this world, we see ourselves as superiour to the point we think we actually have a right of ownership over nature and the nature we destroy in the name of "progress" and "CIVILisation". We are all born into a society that rewards selfishness and illusion (to reality), and the rest of us can only follow into the shithole that society digs before we're born.....We as a species deserve no pity!

Just read today that 12 of d rangers were killed 2 days ago! 4 were injured, 1 critically. Please pray for all of dem, their families & d park people. RIP brave men, see u in heaven

Matabishi waits until AFTER her keeper's back is turned to go back to doing the thing she was just told not to do, just like any proper primate child should! :P I love her reacting at the beginning, where she's just like, "What, I wasn't doing anything! Honest!"

I remember seeing a picture of Ndakasi after she was found, the ranger had his arm around her comforting her bc poachers had killed her mother. Thank you for the amazing work you do, beautiful souls taking care of beautiful souls

I can see the love and reverence for the gorillas in his eyes.

I came here on a search for more information about Virunga National Park after coming across the very disheartening news of six rangers being killed there this morning. These people are truly heroic for putting their lives on the line to protect these beautiful animals. This world is crazy enough but we are still blessed because there are heroic and dedicated people like them out there. Much respect.

Beautiful, smart and gentle.

Love has no language....no boundary....this act of humanity proves this....

A heartfelt job! These men are replacing the parents of the little apes and doing an amazingly loving job

Those Keepers and Guards are TOP GUYS. We ALL owe them a debt of gratitude for putting so much of their lives into protecting the Gorillas. Massive respect.

Its beautiful, his whole life has become about the gorillas, and though it doesn't seem like a lavish life, he seems content. I envy that.

Gorillas are so affectionate and smart. These guys taking care of them are well loved; we need to protect these majestic sweet creatures.

I remember watching "Virunga" on Netflix, and reading other such stories about these brave and brilliant men fighting to protect wildlife in the DRC. It's such a heart warming clip
