Yes, someone commented earlier about that. I hadn't seen the movie in a while so I had forgotten that part. I just watched it twice in the last 2 days! Haha! I found the bluray on Ebay. It's kind of difficult to get.

Thank you for this review. Came across a set at the local comic shop yesterday and was blown away seeing them. Amazing figures and crazy amount of detail. I'm glad you covered all you did in this video. You answered all the questions I had about these two. I struggled and fumbled around with swapping out parts and worried the whole time I was going to break something. I had no idea about both of VINCENT's head features! You're right instructions would have been nice. Again thanks!

@@oldowl4290 Oh! I get it. Yes these new ones are fantastic. They're a bit difficult to get right now. I don't think Diamond Select anticipated that they would sell so well. I think some places are backordered until November. I had the model kits of Vincent and Maximilian back in 79/80 and wish I still had them.

Thanks for the thorough reviews! MIne arrived from an online order and I was worried his head was glued on crooked because his eyes didn't line up with his dome. So excited and pleased the head moves in two places and goes down into the body! Well worth the $30!!

Those eyes on the robots were probably the inspiration for the eyes in the " Cars" movies later on. Nice collection.

@@NerdNewsToday Yep, it's on Disney Plus. It's worth watching for the amazing visuals, the incredible John Barry score, and the robots are just plain awesome. The ending is definitely different for sure.

Great review! thanx for the upload. I loved all of the robots from this series. I was SO glad that they made these! I lost my original Max and My Vincent was a victim of broken lasers from being 5 yrs old and playing too rough with them :( maybe they will make Starr and the century robots as well for an army builder? The way that diorama is made to fit in with more identical dioramas makes me think there will be more sets?

Thank you! Yes I mention in the video that I'm thinking they'll possibly make the other figures. These are obviously selling well for Diamond Select so they really should make the other robots and the humanoids. That would be so cool!

I completely agree! Diamond Select really stepped up their game with these. They're such amazing looking figures with really nice accessories. I'm actually surprised Hot Toys or Sideshow haven't made Black Hole figures. Guess they think they wouldn't be popular but these ones seem to be selling well. I have an extra set on order and I might buy one more. I really love these guys! Thank you for watching and commenting! 😁

If Hot Toys did make these figures they would be more in a 1/6th scale with much better quality paint apps and movie accurate detail but saying that these figures from Diamond Select are fantastic for the price😎

Watch your review/info video today. Thank you for the info. I was confused as to what went where... I have purchased both sets (Maximillian) and they look great together. On Vincent, the little item that goes in the front drop door panel is the drill Vincent uses at the movie's end when he drills into Maximillian. Anyways, thanks again for the info. Thank you! Yes these are the best figures I've bought in a long time! Nicely made, bigger scale, great accessories and they just look fantastic! I did eventually figure out that the piece in question was his drill. I actually had to repaint that piece because the tape they used to keep it in place in the package peeled the silver paint off. That happened on both sets that I opened. Glad you were able to get these. They're not the easiest figures to get a hold of.

I love these so much, waited for cool Black Hole figures for years. They certainly needed instructions or a guide and the plastic arms to help display them are very fragile, BOB is way too heavy for them. I have my original VINCENT too though he's kind of badly pimped up with liquid paper. Nice video, your calm voice is much more appealing than some reviewers who sound like they're gonna explode any second.

Yes they did. It was several years ago. I had to order them from Japan. They were part of some kind of mystery packs. I think you can still find them on ebay but they're usually a bit pricey. Maybe you can still find a few there. I should have bought an extra set of them at the time!

Thank you for making this video, it really helped. I contacted Diamond Select about instruction and they said they don't have any and pointed me to your video. Come on Diamond Select, it's not that difficult. I have a problem with the articulated display rods. They screwed joint sections pop right out of the rods. They're not secure or tight. The screws themselves are nearly all too tight for me to loosen with my tiny screwdrivers, which is very frustrating because I need to adjust the angles to match the way you have them in your video. My only solution is to use superglue to stick the screwed joints into the rods. Frustrating. Aside from all that, these guys are great. I've loved these robots since I was a kid and first saw The Black Hole.

I really wish they would have had something better. I think these stands are the standard ones they have for their figures but they don't work well with Vincent and Bob. I'm surprised yours were screwed together so tightly. Mine were too loose. But I was about to glue mine as well so don't feel bad. 😁

I just opened mine finally and boy these stands take a little maneuvering with the weight. Especially with VINCENT

Yes they do. I'm actually not a fan of those stands. They should have just had a single clear post connect to their bottoms and a flat pedestal as the base. I appreciate that they were trying to give us options to display them though.

Great review. Love these figures. Quick question: Did you customize your Medicom Vincent figure? It looks much better with the retracted legs but the legs are fixed. For a moment I thought I misplaced an extra accessory.

@@outsider238 They're static...there's no way of retracting them. You must have cut them with an exacto knife. I can't see any other way.

Thanks so much for the review! My VINCENT & BOB came without the diorama and the drill. I am getting the Maximillian for Xmas hoping to get the other parts. I wondered what the black rectangles were for. I got 3 in my packet. Having no instructions or even diagrams is my only fault of them.

Wow! It didn't have the floor and the rail pieces? I can't believe they actually forgot to put those pieces in. They're rather large pieces so I can't understand how those weren't included. The drill I might understand since it's so small. The issue I had with the drill is the silver paint peeled off where it was stuck to the tape they used to hold it in place. I had to repaint it with silver model paint. Maybe you can write to Diamond Select and tell them you didn't get the diorama pieces.

But I sneaked a look at my Maximillian my son has for me for Xmas and it seems they are both in that one, but only 3 of those black attachments for the base. It took me a while to work out the stands and their attachments. I am in New Zealand so I think the packaging is different that was sent here from the US. Hard to get the figures I want over here down under. Overall though these figures are great. I love robots and collect them along with other figures. I am also getting the Select B-9 and Robby from someone else so it will be a robotic Xmas for me. By the way well done on the repaints, sorry you even had to though. Merry Christmas!!

@@Sarcasticool Oh okay. Yes, in my Maximilian review video I mentioned how confused I was because he only comes with the back wall and cardboard insert. I got Vincent and Bob afterward and realized the diorama is split between the two sets. I think you only need 2 of the black connectors to connect the bases but so far there's only one base so I'm thinking future sets of other figures might be coming. These figures have been difficult to get here in the US as well. I have a video coming out Sunday reviewing all the different Diamond Select Lost In Space robots that they made. He's my favorite robot of all time which I'm sure you could guess. Haha! Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you got these figures. They're fantastic! Merry Christmas to you too!

​B9 is my favourite too. It should have been placed in the Robot Hall of Fame by now. I am currently in the process of writing an A-Z guide to fictional Robots from Film & TV that I have worked on for the last 15 years, it contains over 1150 Robot characters, including Cyborgs, Androids and Computers. What I would love to see is a Diamond Select Gort and Maria, that would be amazing. I look forward to the Lost in Space review! :)

Great video very helpful thank you. But I wish you spent more time on the stands. Obviously the connectors are supposed to pivot but they are so tight I feel like I'm on the brink of snapping them. I finally got the figures to stand but I am not at all confident with their balance. Any further insight you can share?

Thank you! I had the same problem and some of them were too loose. You'll have to take a screwdriver and loosen the screws so you can adjust to the angles you want. Then retighten the screws so that they stay in place. For Bob, I had to tighten the screw for the part that goes into his back somewhat tightly. He's rather heavy! I hope this helps! 😁

I had the same issue with the segmented armature that makes them “float”. My issue was that they seemed so top-heavy that they always seemed ready to topple over face-first. I did tighten/loosen the connectors with a screwdriver. Perhaps the solution is to have them attached to only ONE of the segments (like you did) for sturdiness...?

@@richardeckman9273 Yes and also angle the longer piece that connects to the base backward like you see how I did in the video. It puts the center of gravity more towards the middle of the base so that they don't fall forward. I think overall I would have preferred a more simple, straight, clear post that connects to the bottoms of the figures instead of these adjustable ones.

I might get 2 sets of these to make a bigger diorama :)

I got two sets from Entertainment Earth. They're $28 but they're backordered now until November. These seem to be really difficult to get for some reason. Possibly because of the current situation. The first run sold out immediately and now they've become rather scarce. Possibly Big Bad Toys might have them. I haven't looked. I hope you can get these.

I got them online from Entertainment Earth. I got a second set from Amazon. They are rather hard to find right now as the first wave sold out. The virus has probably held up production of the second wave. I hope you can find them. They're amazing!!

It's possible there wasn't enough room inside of these particular models because of their design inside and the length of the attachments. I'm not really sure.

But this is good, plus they're pretty reasonably priced you don't mind buying one to play with and one to leave in box. Black hole is definitely getting a resurgence lately, i think you're in for a good year of merch

He definitely is heavier! I had to use an exacto blade to get those blaster pieces out. But you have to be really careful to not scratch anything up.

@@outsider238 I really don't think they are to scale, sadly. I'm not 100% sure, but to be sure I want to revisit the scene where the crew first encounters Maximillian when they enter the bridge and V.I.N.CENT floats up in front of Max to protect them.

@@bonorbitz On second look, I actually think they are in scale to each other. When I place Vincent's head up against Maximilian's chest like in the scene where he pushes Max back so the crew can run past them, he looks like he's in scale. So I think Diamond Select got it right near as I can tell.

Why didn’t they also add holes in the diarama so that you don’t have to use the hideous circular bases? Such bad design... I’m going to take a drill to mine and fix that problem myself... 👍🏻
