Diamond Painting Product Review - Aleene's Tack-It Over & Over (On my HAED)

I am trying out this tacky stuff that Lovecraftforever suggested for spots that have lost their sticky on your canvas.

    Hi, I take my finished diamond painting to my framer at Michael’s crafts store. They “Drymount” which heat seals canvas onto foam core and melts off the residue from stylus wax and makes it more bling and shine! Then i have them finish by framing it..

    Hi Doni, I'm in the process of doing a DP and found out that half of it isn't sticky at all. Now I have a way of finally getting it done for my granddaughter. Thank You so much for this video. God Bless you and your family. Hi Tesslynn!!

    Its blue for 2 reasons. First to show you where you've already put it down, and second to indicate when its "dry" enough to put things on top of. I use it for nail foils.

    Thank you, I have a canvas that has two areas without the sticky in place. I have two options I can use but have been delaying using them as I am not convinced they are suitable. Your solution seems to be the best so far, hands down.

    Thank you Doni for this video. You answered my question to a dilemma I am having. The adhesive on a canvas I am working on DOES NOT STICK.....I will purchase this tacky stuff and go over the canvas. Do you recommend me doing it in sections as I go along or doing the whole canvas at once. Thank you. Mary-Ellen

  • @DPbyDoni

    @DPbyDoni

    6 жыл бұрын

    Mary -Ellen either way is fine. If it is a full area without diamonds on it, it is a bit easier and it keeps the ones that are placed already free of the tack, but if you are already working in an area and find a spot that isnt sticky, you can use a smaller brush to apply it between diamonds.

    Thank you for doing this...I am seriously thinking about doing this on a blank piece of canvas I purchased from Joann's awhile back. I mentioned the possibility on Stitcherista's KZread channel about a week ago, when she figured out how to get her HAED onto the canvas. I have at least 2 bottles of Aleenes Tack it Over! I just have to resize my chart and adhere it to the canvas :) I will just have to order the drills I need :)

    Diamond Painting by Doni so sorry I’ve been crazy busy so I just saw this. Brandy’s company that is linked has the sole rights to produce printed canvases for HAED. It won’t be colorized like kits are but all the symbols are printed on the canvas saving the whole steps you’re going right now. It’s pricier for sure but it’s also a US company and I do like supporting that of course!

    Hi Doni, this is amazing, I think I have followed the same videos as you have been watching! I have a problem . I have almost my entire canvas finished but the back side of the cover sheet got stuck and I had to pull it off. I now know I could have used baby wipes to take the adhesive off. Now I have single spots where drills will not stick. Can I use the tacky over and over with a toothpick for each little drill?

    Thank you for vlog. Didn't quite understand what you were achieving as am now on my 6th diamond painting and find all really sticky and no problems with resins falling off when completed. I give it a firm roll press with my pastry rolling pin to ensure all are clicked down firmly in place. Where are you buying your kits from? Kindest thoughts. Joan (England)

  • @DPbyDoni

    @DPbyDoni

    I buy my kits all over, but the reason I bought this was for my giant Heaven and Earths Design. It is a cross stitch pattern that I am doing as a diamond painting. So, the pattern is not already on the canvas. I bought a blank canvas, laid the pattern onto the sticky of the canvas and then I cover the paper of the pattern with this tack it so that I can adhere my diamonds to it.

    I initially watched this to see your opinion about Aleene's Glue, Ha, I didn't realize that you showed me a totally different way to make use of my counted cross stitch patterns. I had watch a youtube video where the person was using the computer (you needed a special program), and converted the counted cross stitch pattern to a jpeg, then print it out, then cut the design and then line the design back up on the sticky canvas and use double sided tape over the whole thing. After watching that I thought that is too much work. Your way is waaay simpler! I'll definitely being trying this in the future. By the way, where do you get the sticky canvas?

    I am on my phone right now so getting links is a bit hard. But, if you go to my playlist called "the epic HAED..." Watch the first chapter or at least check the info Box there. I give the links to where I got my canvas and drills. But most diamond painting sellers on Ali Express sell the blank canvases. 😊

    Im wondering if there is any input on how long the resins will stay? I know the regular adhesive has an estimated 4 years before the piece starts to "molt". The thought of putting so much work into completing a piece and it falling apart in 4 years is upsetting to any crafter. Thank you for your videos!

  • @DPbyDoni

    @DPbyDoni

    6 жыл бұрын

    Victoria Friend the resins themselves will last a very long time. Because of the short lifespan of the adhesive, we have been searching for a sealant to go on top of the paintings that does not diminish the sparkle. In one of my newest videos, I show something that solves this issue, so the short lifetime of the adhesive doesn't matter so much now 😁

    Yes, and I want the pattern to be on the canvas instead of just on a piece of paper or on my pdf file to keep referring to. Well, i thought this was going to be a little different of a video but i am glad i clicked on it. Thank you for the ideas. I want to check into making my own canvas. I was wondering if i printed it out and glued it onto a regular paint canvas if that would work. Its already mounted. Thoughts?

  • @DPbyDoni

    @DPbyDoni

    5 жыл бұрын

    You could do that, but drilling on a mounted canvas would be a bit hard unless you put something under the back of it to make it solid. But even then, The squishiness of the canvas material might make it hard to get a good stick. I would personally do it on a dp canvas and then mount it onto the stretched canvas after it was completed and sealed. You could always test it out on a smallish one first to see how well it works 😊

  • @DPbyDoni

    I have no idea about glues really. I was turned on to this from another crafter and found that it works for me. I am very unfamiliar with other glues for this purpose. I just run my brush under hot water and rub the bristles until the glue is gone. It works well that way seeing that my brush is now completely dry and no glue residue is left at all. 😊💖

    I have a large hardboard round that I've been thinking of using for my own design to use up all the extra little diamonds from doing the kits...but had no idea what to use to adhere them. I want to work directly on the board, so this Aileen's Tack It (Over and Over) might be perfect. What can I use as a cover to keep dust and dog hairs off as I work? Any idea what kind of plastic film will work? Otherwise, perhaps I can re-use the slipsheets from the kits as I get each one framed. I use Tombow Aqual Mono Glue to seal them; plan to use the same thing on the big round. Does this all sound too stupid?

  • @DPbyDoni

    @DPbyDoni

    Not at all! I use the Tombow as well to seal it. Yes use your left over covers and some brands of parchment paper work great. Just be sure to test it first on the sticky part before you commit to covering your entire painting with it.
