I picked the same person he did. It was the way he said daughter that I thought for sure was the way a “New Yorker” would.

For me, it was clear just based on the fact that #1 was really forcing it. #3 would force it in 1-2 words then go back to his normal accent. #2 tattoo lady was the only one who spoke naturally even though she tried to hide her accent.
@Starkardur8 ай бұрын
I predicted her, because her accent was less obvious but she came across the most genuine.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to have everyone try to speak with a NY accent and then him try to figure out who is authentic?

New Yorker here. I'm surprised more people didn't guess the first one. It was pretty clear to me because the first was less open to saying more words than the last two

#1 definitely wasn’t it. she stood too still… Zeus, he ain’t say “daughter” right… he said it more like someone from Chicago & him moving his arm* was not like a NewYorker … I was thinking it was her. the way she raised her arms & looked but that 2 secs wasn’t enough for me to be 100% certain with anyone. 😂

The way #1 and 3 both said “hot” seemed off from the rest of their accent. In general, regardless of accent, I don’t think the vowel sound in “hot” should be different than “coffee” or “dog” but it was in both. Plus #2 just seemed natural instead of forced

Highly differentiated vowels are characteristic of NYC English and Staten Island Girl has the most natural production of these vowels. Cot and caught are extremely differentiated for NYC speakers

FYI my Hollywood accent expert, there is no authentic New York accent it depends which neighborhood you are referring to. Every borough has a different accent.
