as a Londoner, that London accent was very good. little bit of advice, most people in London don't speak that posh, most of us will speak politely but we tend to not pronounce certain letters and speak in slang and use shortened versions of words a lot, but apart from that you would fit in quite well in Chelsea and Kensington.

As a proud Canadian that sounds just like an American, I’m so happy that you distinguished between a few different dialects. I didn’t know you were Canadian and when I saw that you were going to do accents I thought, ‘Here we go, she’s going to do the stereotypical “Canadian” accent of which, no one I know or ever met in any province I’ve been to in Canada actually sounds like.’ But I was delighted that you presented a few different ones eh? Ya, we do say eh a lot. And we are overly polite. I think they are related as we make a statement then politely add the eh to make it a question that is up for debate or input. Polite eh?

  • @tbnrfan6781

Serious answer,it's because of the different plantations and attempted extinction of the Irish language. We had a small handful of dialects for Irish, but as the country was taken over at different rates, they developed accents differently. Then add in the rural to urban shift and your left with a couple hundred different accents.

as an irish person, i was really impressed! i'd say an irish accent is one of the hardest to do because there isn't just one standard irish accent. there's at least 2 per county lmfao, so it's hard to narrow it down to just one dialect to learn from. you did really well though, it was one of the best i've seen! most people completely butcher it and start saying 'top o the mornin to ya' and shite like that ahaha there were only a couple words that sounded a bit funky. the first time you said 'favorite' was absolutely perfect, but then you went into a slightly english twang the second time you did it, as well as on words like 'to' and 'so'. but you mastered what i call the 't whistle' (when a t sound at the end of a word gets drawn out so it's not abrupt and sounds more like a whistle or a sh sound). keep working on it, it sounds great!

Long John Silver lived in Bristol, England, supposedly the birthplace of Edward Teach, Blackbeard. In the early 1950s Disney produced films of “Treasure Island” (1950) and “Blackbeard the Pirate”(1952), and the same actor was used to play Silver and Teach - Robert Newton. Newton then reprised his role of Long John Silver for “Long John Silver” (1954) and the TV series “The adventures of Long John Silver (1955). Robert Newton was born and raised in Dorset, not far from Bristol, so he knew the West Country accent which Silver and Teach would have spoken in very well, and used it in those films.
