Hello Phil, After i completed the video. i ran across the the fact that you can rotate the metal plate on the back to change the angle. Just remove the screws and re-position. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I've got a dial indicator with an arm going to a magnetic base that it got ripped out of, so this will be a good fix for that. I needed a dial indicator for both your demonstrated situations of the mill Z axis and the lathe carriage position, so this is perfect.

Hi Dorian, after i filmed the video i was mounting and testing the indicator. I was reading the product description and it mentioned that the back plate can be rotated in 90 degree increments. The 4 screws on the back can be removed and the back plate rotated. In the video on the lathe, i out the indicator on the v groove and it missed the carriage. I requisitioned the indicator on the face of the ways.. Not a great angle for viewing. So i rotated the back plate 90 and tried again, this was off camera. Rotating the back-plate allowed me to use the angle on the Lathe and also be able to see the dial because the pivot was changed. Thanks so much for your comment. Cheers

I'm bewildered by the putting tools in drawers and cabinet when done using them ? Labeled parts bins ? I don't get it. : )

Good start but you could have made those threads in less time by hand and not run the risk of breaking that 10-24 tap. Good job though.

I agree totally. When making videos, you have a plan in mind and you are also filming. And since im doing this real-time, its not like i can go back. So i appreciate the comment and i find it interesting that people learn things at different times. Perhaps next time, ill recall how this threading job turned out and just grab the tap wrench instead. Cheers.

If you are looking for a little better quality dial indicator, try the clockwise dial indicator off amazon. I had one of those HF indicators and chucked it. The clockwise is not much more money and wayy better quality. Still chinese.. :-/

This is very helpful Don... But man those indicators are pieces of shit. I had one for about 6hrs. For a cheap indicator, I recommend clockwise from amazon. They actually are pretty damn nice for the money.

Hi there. with harbor freight, you get what you pay for. Now, it was not a purchase of mine. There were just two laying around dads shop and picked them up. I was watching ABOM and noticed how he used this system with the indicators and the magnetic base. The free ones didn't have a flat back, so i improvised. Thanks for taking the time to comment! Cheers
