In this video I will show you the steps I took to make this $400 Cadillac Escalade into a beautiful running and driving vehicle. The Escalade cost me $400 because the owner took it to several different shops (five years ago, tag died in 2018) and no one could figure out the cause of the misfire. The vehicle had the best 6.0l ls engine made (LQ9) with 345hp.
Scanned vehicle first and got P0300 - Random Misfire
- First thing I tried was just the basics - Plugs and wires - did not fix
-Second thing I tried was swapping coil packs around - did not move the misfire from #2 cylinder to cylinder #1
- I pulled up the fuel trim on the Topdon scanner and noticed the both banks were not the same - this told me we had a fuel injector issue.
- I replaced all 8 injectors - still had a very small misfire after this
- Pulled the spark plugs again and noticed they were all fouled out.
- replaced all 8 sparkplugs a 2nd time and no more running issues.
Total investment around a grand. Prices in this area for a 2005 Escalade is between $3,500 and $5,000. Easy money maker!
