Sounds like a stripped gear. I just rebuilt my power antenna on my 84 Corvette. I ended up replacing the nylon cord with braided steel cable. Works perfectly now, and I picked up more radio stations.

Look on ebay. Don't buy another antenna. Buy the Mast kit it's 56.00 to rebuild.

The gear is the same on all Delco radio antenna from 1981 until the stopped offering power antenna on GM cars. You can usually get a used antenna at a pick n pull for $10

He spent a couple of hours trying to find that piece....damn! A million different G cars use the same antenna - go to a junkyard, pull the antenna and get that geared pulley.

alwaysopen You know that's a fantastic idea trudging through a junk yard to find a part that may or may not be on it's way out. Oh and how fun it would be to rip another one of those things apart....... I'll stickl to my cheap aftermarket power antenna which by the way works just fine and doesn't require me to rip the whole thing apart to replace the mast and cable like the OEM does

Gear is bad and other guy cable is broke. Just fixed my 84 corvette for 23.50
