Replaced the front main seal, harmonic balancer and drive belt on a 2002 Toyota Camry.
To locate exactly where the oil leak is.
First, I had to clean the engine real good with degreaser and wash it off the oil with a pressure washer.
Then put leak detection dye. Drove the car for 10 miles. Used a ultra violet flash light and located the leak under the harmonic balancer.
That means the front main seal is leaking. Also called a crank seal.
I have noticed the harmonic balancer shaking when the car was at idle. I advised my friend that the balancer is bad and to have it replaced along with the seal. He gave me a used balancer that looked ok.
The balancer was not an OEM part. I used a steering wheel puller and shaved some bolts to remove it.
For the new seal installation. I pressed hard on the seal evenly until it could not go in more. Then I used a 14mm deep socket back side and a hammer and tapped the seal till it was flushed to the timing chain cover.
Installed the used balancer and a new drive belt.
Test drive for 10 miles and inspected underneath the balancer for any oil leaks. No oil seeping.

Thanks man! You make it look easy and it really is. In my case actually easier as the harmonic balancer just popped off/on with my bare hands. Too bad I already bought an expensive puller for this job but maybe I’ll get use of it some other time. What really was stuck was the seal it self. Broke me a pair of pliers and seal hooks. That thing deteriorated completely. 19 years and 370k kms sure made its mark.
