Control nerfed vs bosses, so worse for U Lillith. Hearts look to provide a decent chunk of damage. RIP Brutal heart for Resistances :( Consider DR when standing in blizzard now.

Appreciate this a lot. I did Ice shards/Frostbolt enchant with blizzard leveling up and had fun doing the stagger and rocking both abilities. Course switched to burning and have tried tossing blizzard out there but was just so weak and not slowly enough. Tossing the two abilities for Icespikes and tweaking my paragon board bit like yours, works VERY well. It's a lot more fun vs doing one or the other but combining!

@@TenkieiHey, I have a problem and I’m not alone in this. I use the two aspects that have a 20% chance to create another Nova when killing a frozen enemy, and the one on boots that has a 50% chance to spread CC and freeze an enemy that wasn’t frozen, both max rolled, and yet they do nothing and never proc, but I see it spread just fine on videos. Is there something we’re missing? I understand that the second is tied to lucky hit, but even if my lucky hit is low it can’t be never, you know?

Aspect of Frozen Wake will give your Ice Spikes the chill effect. That synergizes with Cold Front. This makes Blizzard freeze enemies very quickly.

Currently i am using the blizzard ice spike build (with ice orb enchantment) of northwar but i feel this build is not for speed farming. Wherein when you use ice shard as a skill and enchantment, you can nuke enemies and go forward. ❤

I believe he used Frozen Orb in the ranged push variant which is used for NM75+, though he does have a speed farming variant which is more similar to what I did.

It's quite nice when you want to teleport around. Just remember to space the teleports out when using multiple charges to stagger a boss.

It's probably because I leveled via NM dungeons as opposed to mob grinding.

I just hit lv50 recently so I haven't even touched the paragon board, but I wanted to switch to this from arc lash. Arc lash just feels like it can't put out enough damage and requires me to be in harms way. I've been trying a similar hybrid build like this one and it's been pretty great so far. I've had to use a few perks and aspects to help with mana but it hasn't been too much of a problem if I play smart. Fiery Surge has been a useful perk since everything you hit will be burning in addition to the mana perks you've highlighted. I'll probably switch off Fiery Surge down the road but for now it's been working. I also use the aspects that proc Avalanche twice, double Frost Nova, increase crit damage to frozen/vulnerable enemies, increased crit chance/damage to vulnerable enemies while using a barrier, auto barrier that drops if you're hit while not healthy, damage reduction while standing in blizzard, and improved mana regen if you don't take damage for 3 seconds. I haven't unlocked the ice spikes aspect yet but honestly the chill+damage reduction while I'm in the blizzard has been working well for my current level. Definitely will tweak this build as I gear up, but this feels SO much better than arc lash imo.

I just levelled up my barb to 100 and am doing crazy amounts of damage with it so it's in a good spot. I've always been a sorcerer in all other games so decided to level up one before the first season starts. Up to 25-30 chain lightning was amazing - I could clear rooms full of mobs without any issues but it then it fell off so hard that it felt I wasn't doing any damage. Been looking around for various builds for days (got boosted by friends to level 70) and honestly nothing feels good. I hate the arc lash/TP builds as it makes you feel like a melee class. If I wanted a melee class I'd go back to my barb so wanted to find something a bit more ranged. After watching a few build guides this approach (blizzard + ice shards) might be the closest to a ranged one, plus unfortunately ice builds seem to be the only truly viable builds thanks to Blizzard nerfing everything else to the ground. I wish I could be a powerful ranged electricity or fire build but will try to spec into this hoping that they eventually fix the class. Got some of the aspects in my stash so should be able to put together a semi-working build and hope that I get better drops soon enough.

When your intro clip is a sorc hitting a world boss for almost 100k and the barbs, druids, rogues, necros hitting the world boss for tens of millions.

Questions: 1, does attack speed affect ice spike spawn rate during Blizzard? 2, does Avalanche's 40% damage boost affect ice spikes spawned by a Blizzard that was freecast from by it? I've been completely unable to find decent gloves with the resource regen/Frostburns, so I can't keep casting reliably without Avalanche right now.

Excellent video. I really appreciate your attention to quality of life. Your mana management video was also great ! I am using the teleport enchant instead of ice shards for speed during leveling and glyph leveling since I haven’t hit a wall yet at high 30 tier dungeons. Do you recommend the tele enchant over fire bolt instead ? I was worried about losing devouring blaze and also some DR from burning equipment stats that help survivability. But does ice shards enchant do a lot more of the damage than any burning ? Any feedback appreciated!

Same build as me, but im using full lucky hit stat on accesories for my beloved Fist of Fates gloves and it works fantastic on tier lv 80++ nightmare dungeon.

I do have a pair of Fists of Fate to swap to but I dislike how inconsistent the damage feels so I only use them for higher NMs.

I have been a sorc main all through beta and Launch and I plan to play one in season 1

Wasn’t sure what to expect when I did Fallen Temple Capstone tonight with my first build (this sorc). Was um 67 and solo but I destroyed it without issue. You can/could die but really didn’t have any issues despite not knowing boss/dungeon at all

I’m playing a ice shards with shatter build and it’s fun but the higher tier nms are rough since I’m a pure glass cannon so I’m gonna try this build out.

@tenkiei excellent video sir. Question, does the damage per second stat matter on main hand and focus, or do only the supplemental stats matter?

Currently lv83 Sorc using pure ice shards build. Blizzard looks really fun, but I also have been using ice shards for so long and I'm really comfortable with them. An hybrid between the two sounds perfect, will slowly transition to a similar build to yours as I reach lv90+

I added in Blizzard quite early for better crowd damage and have kept it in since. You can just place a few around the room and wait for stuff to get frozen, while you focus the big guys. And everything that takes the environment into account keeps the game fresh for longer.

Surprise to see this hybrid build here!! Thats what i am using too, i am only at lvl 60 though, i am really enjoying it.Its very versatile, makes the game play more interesting too. However there are some bugs for PS users as you cant actually "Click" on the exact area casting your Blizzard skills, its quite random. Thanks for sharing!

Not a bug but a limitation of using a controller. Same thing happens on PC using a controller.

I play an hybrid blizzard/ice shard build. Finally found an almost perfect staff and broke the 1 million + damage barrier on a crit hit. Am level 99, and am hoping your video will help me tweek my build to push NM dungeons above level 70 which is my current limit.

Really good build. My spikes crit for 1.6m and my shards crit for about 1.4. The only thing I changed was I swapped out conceited for elementslist to help my shards crit as I find myself relying on shards a bit more than blizzard and it’s hard to aim blizzard on console. I wonder if there’s a way to get 7 boards with this and add destruction glyph??

Been using a variant of this build and it is more fun than ice shards imo. No worries about mana spending at all. Will be my starter for season 1.

I was developing this build at the same time you discovered it. Im glad it is getting some attention because it is extremely good. Makes up for our squishiness since you can back out and still pump damage. Currently lvl 83 clearing T50 keys with no issue, working on limit testing now :)

@@furkanarslan1659 I take glacial but not frozen tundra nor frozen wake. I believe frozen wake could have some uses but I feel it would sacrifice too much from either the ice shards, boss damage, mana gen, or defensives. Atm its pretty heavily reliant on shields being up but it falls hand in hand with using your abilities for stagger/other utility or just the mana alone from prodigy. In regards to frozen tundra, I would not personally take deep freeze with this build and leave that more for a direct Ice shards build.

Seems like alot to actually put all together..currently running a ice shards/firewall hybrid..I will see how far this gets me before switching over to this.

Thanks for the detailed video! What would you consider to be the minimum gear/aspect requitements for this build to be viable? Ex: I'm lvl 55 and don't have mana regen on lucky hit, and only 20% mana cost reduction, so I've had a hard time with this build as-is. Any alternatives until I get better gear?

Get the Prodigy's Aspect from Witchwater. If you have finished the campaign you should also have the Mothers Embrace ring, which helps with Ice Shards mana cost a lot. With that + Frigid Breze + Avalanche passives you should be fine.

at 64, t3, hoping to try capstone soon, still arc lash, but thinking it may be time to go something a little faster... this looks enticing.. BUT.. the specific gear requirements.. are a bit off putting to try yet. I appreciate you and the folks that really rabbit hole the min / max.. but.. i feel like that's a bit more mental effort than I'm interested in investing. I will look at the planner etc.. see if I can start watching for at a minimum the right aspects to start extracting for applying to ancestral drops..

Great build. I'm wondering if you've experimented with using Exploiter's Aspect on your Boots instead of Binding Embers? [20% increased crowd control duration; while enemies are unstoppable you deal [20-50%] more damage to them].

Have u tried adding in Aspect of the Frozen Wake!? Causes ice spikes to chill and ur ice armor to drop ice spikes as you move. Fun stuff! 😜🥶

I've been running an Ice Shard/Blizzard Hybrid for a while now since I didn't like Meteor. Blizzard worked way better since it covered freeze in between Frost Nova. Resource on CC aspect is great when fighting mobs while Prodigy is great for single target/bosses.

This is an S tier build on Mobalytics. Was using Blizzard, switch to Meteor yesterday. Seeing how it feels, but Blizzard felt a bit safer but not as much damage

I feel like this hybrid build is really gear dependent to work well, it needs a high amount of mana cost and cooldown reduction and a good roll on Prodigy's aspect. Much more so than Blizzard+Ice Blades. I could really feel the difference when I dropped ice blades for ice shards as an active skill, instead of having a +mana and cooldown reduction button, you have another skill that spends mana, doesn't help with cooldowns and doesn't do that much damage compared to the blizzard/glacial spikes combo with ice shards enchantment. I was constantly low on mana and ran out of cooldowns. Will try again with better gear, making the switch is easy enough.

I've been using this same build after experimenting with a lot of different ice related modifications. This feels the best and most versatile to me. Still haven't found an ancestral glacial aspect. I'm still using a crappy sacred 900 damage one in my amulet. Seeing your amulet with that much more damage than mine.. even now blizzard feels fine but over double the damage will be amazing. The aspect feels extremely hard to find though.

I managed to finally find an ancestral aspect. Doing WAY more damage with the blizzard ice spikes to the point where ice shards is now doing a lot less damage than blizzard. Ice shards is still worth using to apply vulnerable/burning(with fire bolt enchant) and for the auto shards on frozen. It also is better on random small hitbox stragglers still, but not as much as it used to be. Not sure how to go about increasing the damage of ice shards to be competitive with blizzard now, it seems like blizzard just basically wins and ice shards is just a vuln/burning source and otherwise has very situational usage.

Found mine in a helltide!

I started on the sorc, but it kind of sucks as a class. Literally anything else I've played does more damage and survives better. I think the rogue is in a good place in terms of resource generation and damage output, and just versatility as a class as a goal for what the sorceress should be like. I really just wanted to cast big juicy fireballs, but I can't even do that and have it feel good. It's kinda frustrating.

Rogue is definitely in a good place, and yes sorc is the worst class for high end content atm, but for speed farming, leveling, grinding, it's in a great spot right now.

why put glacial aspect on necklace? is the 50% boost that important? vs using control on your necklace for 50%+ per CC?(stun, frozen, immob=150%). does the dmg from having glacial on amulet do more dmg than having control on amulet?

I changed to this build on my sorceress and it's quite fun. The only thing I'm missing is the higher stagger rate on bosses from not having frost bolt. Of course this could just be because I don't have the gear at the moment. Trying to push renown to unlock the free ten points before I push to beat tier 2 and open tier 3. Also I'm level 51.

Ive been onto somthing VERY simular to this approach for about the last 4 or so days. I hvnt seen ANYONE else coming to this conclusion. Personally I'm not a fan of the Ice Blades, I've dropped it. Im using the 4 defensive - Blizz & Shards.. Feels SUPER good. 25-30% Lucky with Fridged Breeze and Prodigy on rings I dont thirst for mana anymore, but I have gotten quite used to using Umbral on my other ring, ( 2-4 resource on each enemie CC'd) I can literally just SPAM Core abilities now for free.. I'm certainly losing dmg but the "feel" of endless mana is unmatched. I hvnt begun to push too deep into late endgame yet, so IDK how this will translate into late late game, but the feel right now farming is EXACTLY what Im LF in a build.

I've been using Ice Shard/Blizzard build with Ice Shard/Frozen Orb Enchantments. Very much satisfied with it. I played sorc in D3 with Tal Rasha Set and I love seeing a lot of spells raining chaos. Sadly in D4, I feel that the sorc is nerfed too much. Playing sorc in D4 is like playing in softcore more. You get 1 shot and are very reliant on set ups like freeze or any CCs to do massive damage. I play Elden Ring and Dota 2, so I kinda practiced some evades and timing, helping me survive more. I rarely die now. I even have the Aspect that increases your damage when standing still. My survivability is good enough that I revive other classes during world boss events. My build feels kind of a support build, saving friends getting killed by freeing enemies, help stagger bosses as quick as possible, and also delete large mobs. I only die because of slow hands, not seeing the explode after death animations, or having unlucky hits-meaning no avalanche procs nor cooldown refresh procs for defensives. Hopefully, they will buff us in the next update. I wanna try PvP. We're not a glass canon, we are a paper water pistol 😅

@@MrPeanut656565 My current Aspects are the following: Control, Frozen Memories, Frozen Orbit, Glacial Prodigy's, Inner Calm, Shared Misery, Frostblitz, Protecting, and Raiment of the Infinite. I will probably experiment with Elementalist instead of Inner Calm. Sometimes, if I get bored or eating with my other hand, I just cast blizzard on my enemies. And since they are going to after me, I cast a lot of blizzards on me. I just stay on place and they die. In Nightmare dungeons with walls, if I see an open door, I cast blizzard a bit behind the door. Only a few are able to get past the door towards me. You can also kite high hp enemies. Just running around inside your blizzards. I proc Ice shards and Frozen orbs often, and I love the explosions on my screen.

What glyph do we put in the 4th board (static surge) you forget that one lol. Is it Control?

Have you tried the freeze prolif build ? Using prolif aspect + unique gloves + unique legs

Yeah, it cut about 10 tiers off the level of NM dungeon the build was comfortable in, and provided no real benefit when speed farming.

I'm using this at lvl 75. Still need better gear but have everything to make it work. I enjoy using blizzard and ice shards together. I miss the ice ultimate though. I've thought about swapping flame shield out but there is so much crowd control.

If you swap anything out I'd drop Ice Armor and keep Flame Shield the immunity / immobilize is too strong on Flame Shield.

Yes, without Raiment you won't be able to reliably proc the stun for Static Surge.

@@Tenkiei thank you! do you have a recommended board to replace it with? In the build planner it looks like you switched out of raiment to get more defensive affixes so I imagine you must have tweaked your board as well but it’s not updated in the planner.

Hello @Tenkiei - I have a Question: I have been "Upgrading" my unique's to rank 5 before extracting their aspect (as you indicate at 2:21 - 2:27), but I am not seeing that the damage of the aspect goes up once the item reaches rank 5 or after I add it to another item. Am I doing something wrong?

A newbie question: if you use multiple blizzards, it will freeze faster?

Another great thing about fist of fate on sorc is it basically says you deal 150% crit damage since it immobilize enemies. You said slow by mistake, so wanted to toss that out there

I’m assuming when you get to 100 you get extra paragon points? Because I counted and I feel I’ll be short for the last paragon table

idk if I missed it in the video, but does anyone know what glyphs he used on the 4th, 5th and 6th board??

does it add up damage when i chill with blizzard . and having a glyph socket increase damage to crowd control or chilling enemy. or do i need to chill with blizzard first than i shot ice shard than ice shard got increase damage but blizzard don have.

I probably won't end up making planners for my builds regularly until Blizzard adds an API to export. But my discord Build-Link-Archive is the best place to check if there's a planner that gets added later. If someone makes one for this setup I'll toss it up there.

in the later stages of paragon there is a legendary node that gives you 15% barrierr for each enemy killed while it was frozen... should help a lot with survivability

great video! :) does the paragon required the glyphs to be 21? all mine are only 15 at the moment.

Playing almost identical build, casualy from 50-75, cleared capstone at 60, pushing +15-20 levels NM pretty easy. Though at this lower levels I found that Frozen Memories aspect (extra avalanche) is very valuable, And 1 point into Elemental Attunement is enough, as it procs every 10 seconds anyway. Great guide

How you reduce ice shards from 30 to 19 mana coast? Great build

I know you don't have this specced on your icefall board, but on mine I also have the damage reduction from chilled enemies selected, 18% of it, but it's not showing up in the stats. The damage reduction from burning enemies is though. This seems to be bugged

Played both. I use frost bolt enchanment as it adds chill to your ice shards. Critting for 300k+ dont even need blizzard.

Have u tried also working in the ice armor spikes aspect as well?

Great vid. I'm currently running a bliz/shard hybrid as well, but with Iceheart Brais pants. The chain nova explodes are so delicious that I don't want to let them go yet. I suspect that as I get to my current setup's ceiling (upper 40s/low 50s), I'll need to respec and I think your build is gonna be it. Was there a link to the build in the vid description? I only saw one for Northwar's bliz build.

No written guide for Blizzard hybrid and I think you're right. Iceheart is quite nice for speed clearing content but it falls off hard in NM dungeons especially at 60+ where you start really needing DR/Armor on pants.

​@@Tenkieibut how about replacing Rainment with a defensive disobedience armor and using Iceheart? I've been playing with Rainment for a few lvls now (I'm 86 atm) and I'm still not convinced. The damage for pure iceshards is good, but I think Iceheart could fit nicely in this hybrid build...

What do you suggest if I am playing hardcore and cannot afford to pick up the fire bolt enchantment? Would I even bother with the burning damage board?

Yes, I want to play this build, but damn "glacial aspect" has only dropped to me once when I was level 15. I am now 79 and I haven't seen it since. I don't know if the drop rate is specifically low for me or not :(

Nobody knows what they’re doing that’s why these guys are making guides based off each other’s guides on a weekly basis. Follow any one of them at your own risk. This guy has made a million different choices for the viewer that he doesn’t talk about. I am personally going to make my own build as this one depends on your glacial aspect and I have not had one of those drop in dozens of hours. Meanwhile I’ve been using my existing aspect and getting weaker and weaker and weaker, ending up back at ice shards anyway.

What about frozen orb + blizzard hybrid? Is it the not so good single target damage?

i just started this hybrid build the other day i didn some changes to it lastnight i have not tried it yet since i changed it

Does the icespikes from blizzards use the firebolt enchantment?

The mana recovery on cc is a really good alternative too. Litterally can't run out of mana as long as there is enemies or a structure to destroy(they somehow count as being cc every damage thick, so stacking blizzard on them gives you infinite mana until its destroyed)

Its not a class specific aspect and is exclusive to rings, restore x [1-4] mana when you crowd control an enemie.

Except getting x4 mana umbral is very rare.

I just got ice spikes on blizzard and it's a game changer

don't know what it is called but your mana regeneration is increased by 40-50% if you have not taken damage in the last 2 seconds helped greatly in keeping my mana pool up it can only be found on rings and is not in the codex of power

Just wondering if you focus on ice shards dmg more than blizzard using the aspect that improve your atk speed by 35% with crit strikes + crit chance aspect instead of the deep freeze and blizzard aspects, would it be better?

@@Tenkieiou could also use the board that increases attack speed. My Paragon set up is completely different (destruction, imbiber… I also use the non physical damage board and the attack speed board) and I wanna try yours but I literally don’t have the gold to respec 😂

I just hit lvl 50 - Would this build be possible without any noticeable legendaries - i struggle with mana in a big way, whenever i use ice shards . if this is not the build for me then, what could be an alternative for a brand new lvl 50 Sorc :)

Love this build, is there a written guide I can reference? I saw the Northwar's blizzard build, but its not quite the same thing right?

One thing that I found that I don't see a lot of people using is the 3rd Ice Spikes aspect for Ice armor: it makes your ice spikes chill for 10% It dramatically improved my hybrid clear speed because now 1 blizzard can full freeze an enemy, and 2 on top of an enemy almost freezes instantly. Maybe it falls off later on? but at level 75-80 it's really nice. It also helps with staggering bosses since our ice spikes now count as CC due to the chill

I experimented with it a little bit but the damage loss felt pretty severe. Plus over-CC becomes a serious issue later, you really want to space your CC effects out on elites to avoid them becoming unstoppable.
