The media don’t like it because it’s not a classic top six but Unai & Villa are a fit

I can see where you are coming from. But currently both of them are a fit. They have a strict employer-employee relationship.
you could play a drinking game with how often Goldstein asks a question, gets an answer, then changes the parameters of the question until they can't answer

Even as a non Chelsea fan, to see Di matteo lift that Champions league trophy that year was a moment I still Cannot believe. The emotions he must of felt lol
Probably the best duo these 2
Luis Enrique & Pep at Barca, Ancelotti at Milan, Zidane at Madrid
Took Goldstein 12mins to say “Wenger/Arsenal”. Typical Man Utd fan.
The rank amateur is still desperate for Unai Emery to go to Man Utd. Thankfully, Unai's clearly way smarter and more knowledgeable about the sport than Goldstein.
But currently both of them (Aston Villa and Unai Emery) are a fit. They have a strict employer-employee relationship. This goes for every manager and club.
Knowing the club helps big time, the rest is upto the manager.

Being familiar with a club is a hindrance not an asset in most cases

These two are great. I see both sides but I agree with Darren Bent here. It's not as big a deal as some make out but I think knowing the club helps a bit
When all the foreign managers came to England they didn't no the club but they always had someone on there staff who new the club
Pep Guardiola knew Barca
I did a stadium tour at anfield. Sign me up! Know the club
Ole at Man Utd, Rooney at Derby, Lampard at Chelsea
Neil Harris - Millwall - definitely knows the club
KD at Liverpool, Ancelotti at AC
It's does help to know the club, but its not essential. Di matteo won CL, ok so Lampard knows Chelsea give him another go, or what about Gerrard to Liverpool? 🤔🤦🏾♂️
George Graham?
Frank Clark at Forest...
Darren... wake up! Andy is saying there are examples but the majority prooves the rule. Jesus this was an annoying conversation.

Bent was not disagreeing with Andy he was merely saying that knowing a club before you go there obviously helps that’s just common sense
Benty you missed out on two of the great managerial achievements from players who took on a club. Zidane and pep at real Knew the club and won everything
Thierry was at Barca under pep benty not frank rikard

Our ceiling is to win the league and European cup simple thats what we have done before so that is the ceiling SIMPLE
Some are a success and some are not... not an exact science like 😂 I'd say it doesn't matter but is nice when it does work out.
Sir Matt Busby, the former Liverpool and Man City captain, didn't know Manchester United inside out. But did shape the club in the post-war era.

@SeriousBartYT

@@willtallis5275 Yes, that's true. Liverpool, Man City and Man United are like sister clubs.
DiMatteo's CL is not held to a high prestige because they parked the bus to win it. A win is a win but Bayern Munich deserved to win that. If anyone parked the bus they'd stand a chance to win.
I say yes get Gerard in at Liverpool and Lampard back at Chelsea 👍🏻

Someone tell Bent It’s okay to quit a dumb argument lol! More managers had no link to a club and won than those who “knew” the club and won. Bent is here fishing and using a few examples to make it seem like knowing the club helps 😂 argument for the sake of argument lol

@@lordlawrence3299 lol but it doesn’t help though, that’s the whole argument! When the stat suggests more managers in their first time at a club have had way more success than those who “knew” the club, the whole argument is dead. If it “helps”, there would be more examples of managers who knew the club and were successful than the 3 that came off the top of his head compared to the many the other guy nailed and I’d even argue there are too many examples of managers who knew the club either working within it or as an ex player (coming back to coach a 2nd time doesn’t count) who failed to meet the standard of the club or just failed horribly at the job

Lampard, knew Chelsea. Solskjaer, knew United. That's that myth quenched. The only reason Zidane did well at Madrid, is he had Ronaldo in his team. Ronaldo, dug that Madrid side out single handedly in multiple big games.

Solskjaer performed well above expectations for most of his time with United but had a couple of extended bad patches, the latter of which got him the sack. But there were many great moments too, and a 2nd placed finish one season if I recall correctly. Lampard's first season at Chelsea was excellent, finishing top 4, reached the FA Cup final, and that was with a transfer ban, a bunch of youths in their first Prem season, and the loss of Hazard who was responsible for 50% of Chelsea's goals the season before under Sarri. In Lampard's second season, his new attacking signings, Werner and Havertz, let him down badly - everyone knows that - and he was in the title race until December when both Reece James and Chilwell got injured for the rest of the season, who were crucial to our system, with nobody decent to replace them, and the season fell apart as the defence weakened and the attackers wasted chance after chance. Context. Neither was a disaster.
