Amazing review! I actually just bought the three stacked Tough system version one because it was on sale for $110. I purchased two of them. The Tough System V2 was on sale for 180, but I decided I’d rather have two full sets for a little bit more, even if it’s the older generation. I also only do work for my family, so I’m not using them as often as a pro might. I currently have all my DeWalt tools in their silly bags which I can’t stand. There’s gonna be a major upgrade and I’m very excited to start organizing my stuff. I’m constantly searching for my tools or attachments or bits and stuff.

FYI I beleive, if you have a Brother labeler machine, The label size fits perfectly in that slot without having to remover the sticker backing. For Tstak it's 12mm (1/2") x 100mm. Greatest info is at 44:40 Thanks for taking one for the team. Still going to get a few. If that clip wears out on the rolling box2.0, a couple magnets glued inside might help keep the lid up.

DeWalt tough systems are starting to be marked down inside our store. I noticed that today for the first time. As I work in hardware in Home Depot I watch for these sorts of things. As I mentioned before there are several Ryobi tools also being marked down significantly - if you can find them. Even the Ridgid 9 AH bluetooth battery has had its price cut from $199 to $100 and now sits in our clearance end cap. There is a special on one of the Milwaukee small parts organizer, priced down to $20. I don't know if that one fits onto their packout system. The Ridgid small parts organizer had been cut by $5 to $25. That organizer does fit onto the Ridgid box systems. But back to DeWalt. What it means to me is that the 2.0 is coming to stores as soon as the original tough systems have been more or less cleared out. . Currently there are shortages in everything. Vendors are having difficulty meeting demand. It reminds me of the facemask and toilet paper shortages of last Spring. So Jeff, if your followers are thinking about adding to their original tough systems, now is the time to do that for two reasons: The Dewalt 2.0 is coming and the previously mentioned vendor shortages across the board. . A final tidbit regarding DeWalt. Their folding table which bounces around in price between $69 and $99 is now scanning for $99 inside the store. But you can buy it online for $87. You can always ask an employee if they'll match the HD website. They don't have to inside the store (I know, it's odd that the HD store may not match the HD website) but if you're polite you might get it. Politeness and kindness pays inside the store. I will give nice customers a break in price even when they don't ask (not always though. It depends on the situation). But I never give an overbearing and rude customer a discount - ever - even when they ask. . As always, use the HD app on your smartphone.

The wheels doesn't have bolberings making the easy transportation harder than Milwaukee packout. Very good innovation with the connecting system, but still no replacement for the part from the boxes. On the toughsystem 1.0 I almost broken all, very sensitive place. I like the new system but I prefer the Rigid way to stack together the boxes.

Tilting back handle and hinge placement definitely better on the 1.0 system. The 2.0 rolling box lid hold lots of water if caught in the rain and the lid tips it all into the box when you open it. Massive design flaw. I've had to glue on a piece of EPDM to direct the rain over the hinges. The water test hinted at this problem, but didn't show it to its full extent.

I still use the DEWALT TOUGHSYSTEM TROLLEY - 150KG DSCARRIER. Still can’t imagine that the newer models can be as tough for use on a building site. Plus that you can slide the cases out individually so not to use up too much floor space.

The biggest deal breakers on the 2.0 are the nice stainless steel front latches being replaced with those cheap-looking plastic and wire latches, and the elimination of the nice side handles on the 1.0. For those reasons alone, I just bought a bunch of the 1.0 boxes while they're still available. I don't consider the spring loaded side latches as that big of a deal.

  • @jeffostroff

    @jeffostroff

    3 жыл бұрын

The front latches are actually an improved design. People were reporting problems with the 1.0 where the front latches break because it's a thin amount of plastic that secures the wire. Also it's only the large tool box that no longer has the side handles, the other 2 new boxes still have side handles.

  • 3 жыл бұрын

@@jeffostroff That's weird, since the largest box is more likely to need the side handles.

Hey jeff Great review video, very detailed & thorough. Much appreciated! Just thought I'd leave a comment to give you & other viewers a heads up re: the reasons behind the newly designed front latches on the Toughsystem 2.0 vs. the orig TS's all-metal latches. Although the orig latches might appear more robust, they were actually one of the most common points of failure on the orig TS boxes. Not the metal clasps of latches themselves, but where they were actually attached to the lower section of the toolbox. The molded plastic retention mount that the metal clasp snaps into, securing the latches to the toolbox, would often break apart, rendering the toolbox virtually useless, since you could no longer carry the box around with tools in it. So although the new clasps might appear less robust, they are actually better designed, far more secure and also lighter. Having used Dewalt's TSTAK & orig. TS for yrs. now, I've gotta say, although the new setup is more expensive, Dewalt has definitely done a great job of improving on nearly every aspect of an already great system with the new TS 2.0! Everything from design & engineering, to flexibility, functionality, capacity & build quality, has all been significantly improved! All, while still maintaining near identical external dimensions and above all, backwards compatibility. I think they're engineers definitely deserve some serious recognition and/ or design awards for what they've achieved w the TS 2.0 system! Thanks again👍👍

Jason that is a corner guard piece, very strange. On the front of the tool box left side and right side below the latch, and off to the side a bit on the lower corner is a small empty cavern built into the corner of the case. The black plastic piece is likely there to add stress relief on the corner if you drop the tool box. The only thing I can suggest for you on that particular DeWalt battery charger having never seen one of course is check the height if it's below 4 inches chances are that could fit inside of the small tough system toolbox and you could put it in there inside some Kaizen foam to hold it in place or glue it to the inside of the box and maybe you have enough space also to put tools next to it or whatever but that would be something to look into because then once it's in that small tough system tool box, it will then clip onto the top of the tower of DeWalt tough system boxes and you can just roll it away with all the others

Well done. A few edits are a bit wonky but no big deal. Question, as an engineer, what are your thoughts on the many different standards Dewalt has for their systems? What else can we look forward to with 2.0 that will allow Dewalt to close the gap with Milwaukee's Packout system?

  • @jeffostroff

I find their naming confusing sometimes. Like the Tough Case + boxes are not compatible with ToughSystem, so it does blur the lines. These 4 new boxes are backward compatible with all ToughSystem components and Toughsystem Worshop Racks. Plus the Tstaks I don't think are IP rated, so no gaskets, and they are smaller than Toughsystem, mostly a 17 x 12 footprint, whereas the Toughsystem is 21" wide. Tstaks are too narrow for me, but probably perfect for other guys. It's about the same size as Craftsman Versastack. I don't know where they are going with Toughsystem 2.o, but I think all they need is these 4 boxes, since the other components don't need to change.

I like the overall design. What bothers me however is that the boxes of the 2.0 system don’t sit as flush as the 1.0 when they’re stacked…allowing them to rock back and forth on top of each other, so if you have a whole stack, the entire stack rocks back and forth. I’m wondering if they do that even more once they’re loaded with tools? Or does the weight of the tools compress them enough on top of each other that the rocking is prevented? Let me know…I’m still in the process of deciding between the Tough System 2.0 and the Milwaukee Pack Out.

Here's what I don't like about any of these stack systems! Are you ready? You have convenience based on inconvenience. You have to take everything apart to get to your tools. So the tough system or the pack out no thanks! Great video Jeff

I sort of prefer the original small box that I have over the new one I’ve seen in Home Depot. Better organization inside.
