Ok guys. You're late to the game. I've had this saw for almost 2 years now. Have done 4 full remodels and a lot of smaller jobs too with it. I'd say 90% of the time the lighting is NOWHERE near as bright as on your lit area and the cut line is awesome and shows up sooner. Most of us check the blade anyways. If anything the saw has sped up production for us. I'd say the biggest PRO to the saw is the fact that when you are dragging out saws and putting them back up every day in a trailer that a 25 pound saw versus a 65 pound saw makes a big difference after a year or two. Blades are cheaper. Its battery powered. No flexvolt needed. It's cheap when you compare it to the 10.and 12" offerings out there. I'm just glad to have it and it makes you wanna pull out the miter saw when there are those times that you just have a cut or 2 to make and in the past are tempted to use the circular saw because of the hassle of pulling out the 12" monster that weighs as much as an 11 year old kid! I can say that in 2 years not one time has it not worked or broken down and that's after thousands of cuts. Framed, trimmed, floored, you name it. Good purchase...keep up the good work.

web1187 DeWALT does have an adapter that converts 110. VAC wall outlet into “20V” that plugs into any 20V tool by sliding into the battery slot. So, yes.

It’s gonna be 4 years since I bought this saw and I love it. It’s lightweight, compact, I use my compact miter saw stand which looks nice on it. I don’t cut anything bigger than 2x8, baseboards, window and door trims, small projects here and there. Just wish it was a double bevel. You can cut a 2x10 but that’s an awkward cut.

I bought mine a year ago. I use it for cutting trim and vinyl flooring mainly. Super light to move around and plenty of power. My only negative is there is no dual bevel. I hate flip flopping boards. But I'm on Dewalt platform and it's made me plenty of money. I recommend it.

I've had the UK version of this for about 4 years. Great bit of kit. I only discovered a few months ago that the base of the saw fits on the 1.0 tough system boxes so no need for a stand. (also found out it doesn't fit on the 2.0 boxes. ) Never seen this mentioned by anyone else? Keep up the good work chaps.

I bought this saw simply for warranty and coming back and fixing subs work. Flooring, trim, etc. Also it fits in the van and stays there as opposed to going to the garage and pulling out the 10 or 12. I am a fan.

I have the Craftsman V20 version of this saw. It's nearly identical, but the Craftsman does have a depth stop for cutting dados & I got the kit for $203 out the door. It's a great DIY saw & I've used it for a few projects with no issues. It's also very accurate & I was able to grab an extra 2 pack of 4ah batteries for $79

You guys complain about not being able to see the shadow line cut indication. I have NEVER owned a miter saw that had a laser that was worth the trouble of replacing the batteries when they died. I always had to figure out how far from the cut the laser actually was and estimate where the cut was going to be. As far as I'm concerned lasers on miter saws are gimmicks. When you can see the shadow line on this saw it is dead on. Also I don't know why your buddy is so freaking obsessed with the bevel knob being plastic. Just try being a little graceful and don't twist the hell out of it. This is a great remodeling saw especially if you have to haul it up stairs or up a ladder. I use this saw for installing vinyl railings and even cutting 5/4 pressure treated decking. It will run just about all day with the 6 amp-hour battery. As far as it only being a single bevel c'mon guys use your imagination to work around that drawback. The biggest problem I have is with the trim blade that De Walt includes and any thin kerf trim blade really. This saw can be a little grabby if you don't hold the workpiece down tight. Once the blade binds in the wood you can figure on taking it off tossing it out and putting on a new blade. Overall this is a very good saw. PS I think the guy that said he got it at Home Depot for $100.00 either bought a different saw or he switched price tags on it. Even without the battery and charger they're not gonna let it go for a hundred bucks

Bought the saw a few years back and love it. Lightweight and plenty of power. Mainly used for window casings and baseboard, but have brought it out while cutting fence pickets on smaller jobs. I wish the cut line light was better quality like the 12", but for smaller stuff its no big deal.

I had both saws Milwaukee and Dewalt. Dewalt is accurate, but it had a couple things that were very annoying, after a few cuts the sawdust in the bag will come down when you are making cuts, and changing blades was annoying and the bolt would wore off too easy. Milwaukee has nice features and solved the problem of the dust collection and blade change but it's biggest flaw is that is not that accurate.

It's a 7 1/4 inch saw I have had mine 4 years I have not had a problem at all! That back sustainability being plastic has gave me no problems. It's a small saw with plenty of power for smaller jobs if you want to do big jobs get a big saw! I absolutely love the saw...

  • @charleslanier1992
    @charleslanier19924 жыл бұрын

It's probably good for punch out not having to break out a big chopsaw for something that would take only a few cuts. It's light weight and compact. But for full trim packages I think it would slow me down cause of lack of features that the 12 has. It could assist a 12in in doing basic cuts leaving the 12 open to do all the fancy cuts on bigger material picking up production.

I'd like to see a more feature-rich miter saw of this size as a 60V tool. I just bought a 60V 7-1/4" circular saw to replace my 20V PowerDetect 7-1/4" circular saw, and the difference in power and battery life is incredible. I feel that the 60V 12" is a downgrade compared to the 120V as that larger size benefits from the increased power, so 60V in this super-portable size plus a couple more features would be very nice.

Hi Vince and Jimmy, I have this same 7 1/4" miter saw for small projects. I have to agree with Vince on some issues. First, it should have a double bevel. Second, a better dust collection bag, Third the precision light should be better. Fourth, it should have a Brushless motor. Yes, i get Jimmy point about marking materials and then double check before cutting. Still Vince is correct if people don't really care about that feature then don't put it on the tool or the box. I have to say I still like the little miter saw for small projects but Milwaukee still has the best 7 1/4 miter saw with all the features. Hope DeWalt can make a new version of this this miter saw and their 6 1/2 circular saw. It's time for an upgrade DEWALT....

Thinking of selling my 10 inch and buying one of these. Have you guys made a video comparing this to the Milwaukee 7 1/4? Already on the dewalt platform but wouldn’t mind expanding. I’d use it for afternoon/weekend side jobs where I’m casing occasional door/windows. The smaller 7 1/4 would come in so clutch considering I work out of an SUV and I can put load it on top of my tough system when I’m at the job

Enjoyed your review you guys. This little saw is a new purchase for me and have yet to use it past test cutting to do an out of the box adjustment check. But? It's definitely powerful and well built enough to have me growing my son's shared Dewalt platform here! (instead of my Milwaukee M18/M12 platform with their offering). $170.00 difference and for what we expect to use this for? This little guy's quality can probably put up with watching us drag out the corded 12 inch slider occasionally. The season is just starting and really looking forward to using it along cedar fence lines and on interior/exterior trim work. It'll be a game changer for us and have no problem doing a little flip/flop with some crown work once in awhile. (A coping mechanism I guess?) Lol Again. Really enjoy your channel....fun watch!

Agree with a few others that this saw sounds way different than mine, which I've had since they first came out. My main gripe is that the motor does limit cut depth when mitered to the right for cutting material vertically. Also, the shadow line works better the more dimly lit the room is unfortunately. Still a great saw, I've used mine a ton.

The Ridgid is a dual bevel, has a depth gauge, has a WAY better "positioning system" with different colored lights on each side of blade to make it more clear, it also has an angled motor, and a much faster brake. It also has a chart on the front that tells you what angles to set for flat crown cutting. Every complaint you have about this saw, the Ridgid has. I work with a guy who has the dewalt and its just not as nice as I would expect from them.

I'd rather the plastic handle break than strip out the bevel lock screw if there too fell. Cheaper for them, cheaper for me. No depth stop or bevel quick set on a trim oriented saw is 100% a deal breaker, what were they thinking?? I'd use this all day for recessed stud brace knockout dados, but nope. Edit: all of 20sec after pausing to post, Vince echos my thoughts on the handle 👍

Bought the saw saw blade shadow dose show. Bet era in mine about an 1.1/2 from work piece Maybe something is wrong with the adjustment of it I also prefer and invested in Milwaukee but have some de Walt as well so I opted to buy it Cause I got a good deal on it and it’s Light and precise All in all I like it so far.

I've been debating this saw for a few months now and I want to pull the trigger on it. (I have the Dewalt 12" slider and I want something smaller for small jobs) But I just realized this saw isn't brushless. The Milwaukee is.. Its also significantly more money and I have no Milwaukee 18v tools.. so I'd have to buy a battery and a charger. I on the other hand have a ton of 20v Dewalt batteries. Anyone have any thoughts on what I should do? I can't see Dewalt NOT updating this saw in the near future. Not having a brushless motor on a premium tool at this stage of the game just doesn't make sense to me. With my luck I'd buy this and Dewalt will roll-out a new version at Christmas time and I'll be kicking myself for buying it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys. I bought this and didn't realise know about the depth stop. Arh! Do you know whether the black stop screw can be removed? If so one could add in a simple threaded depth stop. I am loathed to remove the stopper, just in case it is also holding something else in that would be difficult to get back into place :)

My current small miter and my 12" have a pull out support on each end to extend the width of the cut surface and help hold work better. Of course tooo long would require separate stands but those pull outs are a great extra. I'm not concerned with the plastic star knob but I have read reviews they would rather prefer it to be two rather then three point. Dun know. Also another review was not happy on the blade change. They say there is a screw that is extremely hard to remove and they pretty much stripped the head getting it out. Maybe that screw is an easy replacement with something different??? I definitely need to replace my current saw as it has used up its time line and I like sticking with DeWalt because I have all DeWalt cordless tools and lots of variety of batteries.

First if it was to have bevel to both sides that would be a $100 upcharge. For a depth stop that would also be another $100 upcharge. I mean look at their 12" 779 series saw at $349.99 compared to the 780 at $599.99! And the only difference being the light on the 780!

What's keeping me from buying this unit, lack of dual bevel andit should be dual power like it's big brother, make a battery pack power converter with 110v plug in. Battery power is nice but if I can use 110v it's a preference than chewing up those precious cycles. To make this saw dual bevel would be a lot to reconfigure, offset belt drive or place the motor 90° to the blade in a worm drive config also the battery would need to be relocated as well to clear the back plate on a right side bevel. But by relocating the motor you would probably end up with 3" cut the whole length of the saws travel on the slides. But then we'ed end up with a $1000 saw instead of a $350 saw, well in Canada for that price

Dewalt makes a 12v DC power supply that goes where the battery goes and it plugs into 110v outlets.
