Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Casper) joins us this week to share the highs and lows of his experience in this industry from his unstoppable ambition as an actor in his youth to the inevitable struggle, that Hollywood catalyzed, leading to his rock-bottom of quitting at 24.
Devon is an open book this episode - candid about his evolving relationships and what inevitably pulled him back into film.
We also talk about why he’s most proud of Stan, his shock at the premier of Final Destination 5, and being stranded during the filming of Chucky.

Love this podcast so much and how Michael has become an advocate for mental health and therapy. This is what makes this podcast so great, loved this episode. I really think Devon should at least try going to one therapy session. It wouldn’t hurt him and I have always thought therapy is good for the soul specially when you’re going through some dark times in your life. So important especially with the stigma for men and women. I been thought so many therapist, since I was so young life hasn’t been a bed of roses for me with family and relationships. I started up seeing this amazing therapist for the past month and not all therapists are that great so you have to weed through the right ones. It’s been awhile since I have seen someone and she been amazing awesome therapist. I was going through some a difficult time plus I am turning 60s in a month and I needed this and I haven’t broke down in tears in awhile, starting to enjoy life doing for myself and taking time for myself and doing trips and concerts. I have always put everyone before me and been helping others for so long I need to take time for myself and that what my therapist has been suggested for me to live life for myself instead of for others. Devon is an amazing person really enjoyed listening to him and you Michael. You really talked about so much on this episode and you get to learn so much about Devon, Another great episode, Inside of you Podcast Rock!!!

I realize this is anecdotal and all, but I've been in therapy for over two years after a traumatic event. People rely on it way too much. Therapy always seems to be the answer. The reality is that all the hard work is done within. While I enjoy having someone impartial to dump my problems on, I've done all the hard work on my own. I suspect folks who don't go to therapy and are just fine dealing with their problems are just capable of dealing with it internally. Diet, excersise and sunlight help a whole hell of a lot, too.

Or therapy never actually helps to some people? Or in some countries therapists almost do not exist or just in 2-3 cities OR it's a tabu/considered shameful to go om a therapy. ORRR therapists are incompetent and when they can't help you they just gives you pills that do nothing but worsen your life even mlre not only mentalky but physically as well. Reaskns like these 😅

Michael I love Urban Legends your character is easily my favorite in the film and that's the first thing i ever saw you in. pretty creative death scene for the time too. i can tell you had fun making that due to the making of on the dvd they put out back in the day.a really underrated film i think anyways, i'm a fan of Devon's as well i love the Final Destination films i always wish he had done the 2nd one but if i recall reading it was just he was doing something else. i didn't realize he was in the Stan video but than i haven't seen it in years either.

My own therapist does exactly how Micheal describes it here and it's been a godsend for me. AND yes, the process can be scary 'cus you'll be told things you don't want to hear but that's the point, to help you process those fears.

I loved Devon ever since Little Giants. Especially with Christina in Casper and Now& Then. I wish they would appear together in something now that they are all grown up. And he was amazing in Stan.

I saw idle hands way before I should've and i thought the freaking hand was hanging around on my ceiling fan waiting for me to go to sleep. got in huge trouble for it too so....special thanks for that one lmao hitting bruce campbells joint and biking was a story that somehow in one second changed my life for the best.
