One of the greatest things about Devin Townsend is he's just a local boy, and also a world-class artist, all in one. He engages with you on a personal, human level. Yet he manages to make music for the whole human race.

I heard he was drunk and his kid almost drowned in a river while he wasn't watching him and that's what this song is about and also why he got sober.
It's just him and one guitar, and it still sounds like a God singing in a dream

@@cbcmusicThe most truthful thing from CBC in quite a while.
I own the very guitar that Devy is playing here. It's the prototype guitar for his Empath acoustic, and it's possibly my most prized possession. :)
All of Devin's music from the screaming metal, to the soft acoustic, and the dramatic musical songs, hit parts of my soul. Things light up in me and it is just so magical. ❤
I love that Devin is featured on CBC. He’s our best export since Rush.

What a fucking master of the stage is Mr. Townsend. A perfect interpretation of this powerful song in a moody acoustical masterpiece.
This man has created his own musical genre called “Devy”. Why hasn’t this been done yet?? This needs to happen now!
I was star struck when he came to Dallas. I know he’s human just like me but his music expanded my mind so much I was just blown away how close I was to a person that changed me for the better. Fuckin rock n roll

Hilarious that metal is never covered on CBC until it is "unplugged." Then it is suddenly 'serious music' worthy of inclusion.

I love that in every one of those videos he comments on how much echo there is 😂
He emanates such positive energy, listening to him and seeing him just makes me happy
If you told me I could only listen to this song forever on repeat for the rest of my life... I'd be perfectly okay with that. This makes me feel so many things, nostalgia, rebirth, beauty, resolution, peace, calm... so many good things.
I tried showing my friends and number of his albums a couple of months ago and they couldn't get into it, but now all of them have been listening to him regularly.

Blows my mind how perfect his music is.
Devin is pure music genius. Will never forget the moment I bought "Sex & Religion" (S. Vai) when I was 13... back in 1993. Devin on vocals. Blew my mind although I was into death metal already. Changed my life.

The GOAT
Looking back at me made me lol. I was really happy! Cant wait for the next show!!
It's rare to find someone who's discography consists of mostly live tracks for an entire album. However, once you listen to him "live" right here and good ol' KZread, you start to understand that there could be no other way. Who gets their sound perfect nearly every time? The only other example that comes anywhere near that is the sound on Peter Frampton Live. God, I love this stuff!!
Damn these goosebumps. There aren't words to describe how awesome Devy is. Lovelovelove.
For sure the most beautiful music.. Devin and the Contortionist are in my opinion the most tallented musicians out there

I had a major breakthrough to this song during a mushroom journey. It was like a part of my soul and body separated and I was staring at my soul in front of me and suddenly who I am as a person made more sense to me then it ever has. I have always dealt with pretty extreme depression and self loathing and getting a hug from my soul during that experience was so profound that trying to describe it in words seems to do the experience no justice. Now every time I listen to this song, it's like there is something holding me making the cold nights a little less cold.

Hello! Is there any way these could be made available to download/on streaming services? Amazing quality and I'd love to be able to listen to this on the go
I'm a bit ashamed to admit, I've never seen Devin and his band live. That has to change when all this bullshit is over and bands are able to touring again. I mean, this guy is one talented individual....🎶🎼🎵🖤
You know I saw Strapping Young Lad way back in 2006 at a festival and its taken me this long (until I'm mid 30's) to understand Devin Townsend, and I kinda think he's a genius now?
Who doesn't want Devin to be at there camp fire but I am sure he just get sick of taking requests LOL
Somebody should also recognise the great Ian Thornley from Big Wreck. Hes on the same league as Devin, Vocally as well with his outworldly guitar skills.
It's amazing that a song like Hyperdrive can transpose like this, considering the live version (Addicted-Live) with Anneke Van Geisbergen has such power and feel it isn't funny. Look it up .
I prefer this version.
