It's always interesting to hear people talk about this franchise, and I like that you're covering pretty much all of the material over the decades. I got the Devilman Classic Collection that was recently released, and the Shin Devilman chapters are included and numbered as if they're part of the original series. It's really jarring, so I skipped it, and I'm even more glad about that decision after watching your video. I look forward to the rest of this video series, and I hope they bring Devilman Lady and the other 'canon' Devilman works to NA someday.

Shin-Devilman isn't meant to be taken too seriously, it's only meant to give the reader some thought provoking points that sometimes Evil People are somehow influenced by situations of their past that leads them into being Evil. Thus explains why Demons manipulate people's minds so in turn, people do evil things later on. Shin-Devilman also includes a really good final chapter when it ties everything back to what Akira has lost.

Wouldn't go nagai world ova pretty much a continuation of the ova series

My first exposure to Devilman was the OVA! I was about 12 I think, and I saw the videotapes for rant at a Hollywood Video! I took it home and watched it and was hooked ever since!

I just read the manga, unless there’s another translation they didn’t make him a sympathetic character, they made him a dick.

You know you keep shitting on the hitler chapter but its so stand out in a cluttered genre of ww2 media. It wouldn't be worth talking about if it was just Devilman killing nazis like every other story ever made.
