this shows proof that the VG platform holds tremendous amount of power, even tho they are hard to work on, alot of Z guys like swapping out the engines and dropping a JZ or an Rb in them not realizing that this platform makes power and has potential, just gotta be willing to put in the work thats it
@AdamMGTF
4 жыл бұрын
Is that in America? Over here in England nobody swaps them for other engines. I've seen 1 that had a jz. But that's been broken for parts. I'm SR swapping mine, but that's to save weight/improve handling
@CrazyAsisan24

Its like the same thing with the 350z and 370z, Vq35de & hr and Vq37vhr can be good motor if you do ton of research. Don't get me wrong, LS, 2jz and Rb swaps are cool and all but its starting getting overrated. Heck the coolest motor swap Ive seen on a Z was chris forsberg VK56 swap in his 370z.
@AdamMGTF
4 жыл бұрын
@@CrazyAsisan24 that's interesting you say that. I've seen 2 2jz swapped z33s in the UK and one with a SR20. There is also one with a ls in the British Drift championship. It's one of the very few LS swaps I've ever seen (they are incredibly rare here. I'd love a LS engine. But I could buy 10 2js AND 5 SRs with change left over for what a LS setup would cost). The z33 is getting popular here. But not many people are boosting them yet. Still too expensive

The Kodiak Z32 these and the 3000gt are pretty underestimated, these tend to hold power better due to factory design but the vr4 is the same way, lots of guys running 500whp on sbe for more than 6 years

Well here in the states, the twin turbo Z was much more common car to see on the streets back then than the Supra (RB was practically unheard of when it came to your average driver in the 90’s). So by the time these turbo Z32’s became more available to mode some years later, a lot of the turbo VG’s in these cars had quite a bit of mileage on them and/or were just worn out from being beat on (actually not as common). Even though these engines had always been stout, they tended to be underrated and the idea of a sequential twin pump set up seemed more practical than an actual dual turbo set up. But the VG in the Z32 was always a world beater. I had a 93 twin turbo about 15 years ago that had over 230,000 miles on it when I bought it and it ran tight. Not even as much as a ticking lifter. This engine ran great for the two years I had the car. I loved it.

A stock TT Manual 300ZX in New Zealand goes for between $7-12k (NZD) depending on mods. When these cars came out, which was the same time as the R32 GTR, The Z had the same kw rating but had more torque due to the higher displacement. The reason most people swap them isn't for power but for engine bay space. They built the car around the VG design so everything is super tight, He's lucky to fit those turbos down there and most probably why he's running an internal gate setup. Also, high-performance parts for these back in the day were hard to come by because everyone was buying the RB platform in Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

8.91 on a stock motor... that’s amazing. True testament to what Nissan had invested in their Z32 VG platform back in the 90’s. Japanese car companies certainly weren’t messing around when it came to the bread n butter under the hood of their premier sports cars. Purposely over-engineered.
