    I think I know how you got lost. I hiked the east bluff for the 1st time yesterday and the trail all of sudden made a cut back which I didn't see. If it wasn't for my hiking buddy I may have wander off trail without knowing. When it happened I said to him. They should have a sign here pointing to the correct direction. I believe so many people have made the same mistake so many times it has created a false trail.

    Feeling like your are off the grid is amazing! It was a weekday when we went and honestly it was pretty packed. We still found parking right by north beach. If I remember correctly, we got there at noon and I thought it would be busier. Have fun ☺️

    We might be heading there this weekend - did you have to get the state park sticker thing? Also, how long did the hike last roughly? It appears you went all around the park pretty much. Lastly, what do you recommend for food and lodging nearby?

  • @xhynetuseinovski

    @xhynetuseinovski

    So after some research (I didn’t realize you had to pay for a pass) I discovered that you could purchase a daily pass at the park. However due to Covid, people working there said I had to call the 1-800 number to purchase it via phone. I kid you not, the phone line was so busy that I could not get a hold of anybody. I literally tried for hours! I eventually gave up and took the risk of leaving my car without a pass. Luckily nothing happened. The hike around the entire lake, including all of the most popular things to see with only one 30 min break at south beach, took about 4 hours. It seemed like all the places at the park that you could get food were closed. We packed a cooler. We didn’t utilize lodging (it was just a day trip) but it appeared most camp sites were still open.

    I'd imagine it's hard to get lost as there is a giant lake in the center but what devices work there? AllTrails? No cell service right? What about radio in case there's an emergency and you need extraction?

  • @TheJumpsuitJack

    @TheJumpsuitJack

    I do know they have stretcher/medical stations, don't recall if they had radio. Assumed they did? At least last I went a little over a year ago. Might have gotten signal occasionally but low speed. Place isn't really easy to lost, so. And it's almost always packed on summer weekends.
