I think downtown definitely needs a focal point - such as a tallest building or landmark for height that the skyline can be centered around. I look at places like Philadelphia which have the Comcast Center or One Liberty Place and I think that would really solidify the whole thing. Also - getting the trams out towards the University would be a big help, maybe in the future it could be an underground subway.

At the moment, I'm not happy with the height of the unique buildings I have to do this. But it is definitely something I will come back to if I unlock a unique building that will fit

Don’t know if you know but when signature / service buildings burn down ( like your tram depot in the start) you can actually just click on the burnt down building and click rebuild. Happened to me with my university and can save a bit of headache when trying to plop a building back down 😊

You should change the train station area a bit. With the cargo station gone that train corridor now only serves passengers. Passenger rail would probably jump at the opportunity to claim the now unused cargo rail tracks to up it's capacity by having a dedicated slow commuter rail line and a high(er) speed rail line/bypass line. The station has 3 connections at the left side and only 1 connection at the right side (video at 21:32 ). The 2 connections that don't go through from left to right were previously cargo rail only. I would like to see at the very least a 3 left, 2 right configuration, especially because this station now is the end station for your commuter line to the downtown. Every time the commuter train now sits in the station it is blocking a potential outside connection train from passing through. It would make more sense if the commuter train would have it's own platform seperate from the passing through lane. There should be just enough room to build the 2nd connection if you demolish the one shop to the right of the trainstation. Bottom would act as your outside connection bypass, middle is the commuter train platform and top goes unused as it has no rightside connection.

Beautiful work as usual. The Research Institute, very much reminds me of the Getty Research Institute in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. In real life it is also situated very close to a major highway. In the New Year, I am definitely sorting out my PC and buying Skylines 2. I think of have a HD issue. If I have too many browsers open, it crashes. Not played Skylines for at least 6 months now. Hope you have a great Christmas and NY.

Previously: Traffic is backing up, I could fix this but I like to see it backing up. Now on the same spot: This is used, and it generates traffic, so I just remove it. :D The crater lake is a good idea but to sell it you'll need to terraform that place extensively. Also the Institute is on the TOP of the hill, not on the side of it! But regardless, its fun to see the chill way you are building out this city, I keep coming back to it, keep it up!

I realised I didn't address that in the video. But I wanted it to look like the area was just abruptly disrupted for the train station to get placed there and there was no budget to plan out the roads properly....or they just didn't care.

Those final cinematics were simply gorgeous! Bravo! Couple of suggestions to take or leave: firstly maybe think about running some public transport up to the Research Institute since getting to it isn't easy (maybe from the train station down below that now has a line stopping at it); and secondly, you got a lovely new signature building, called the Food "Station" and had the perfect spot at the railway station, and you wanted more commercial in there! Oh dear. ;o)

You know, I cut it out in editing, but when I got to building around the station, all the buildings under the shop section were grayed out as though they were not unlocked. I think there was glitch and I wasn't in the mood to troubleshoot. Will place it at some point though.

i love your builds bro, but i have noticed high rent icons throughout your city. It might be worth using low rent housing in those areas complaining about rent. Your city is basically suffering from success making it harder for the poorer residents to live their lives. It also helps building houses with smaller lot sizes cuz the bigger the lot size the more rent they have to pay. keep up the videos!!

I hear you, and thanks for the observation. The thing is, I have a specific look I want and addressing some of these complaints from citizens will mean I have to rezone areas into looks I don't really want. So as long as people aren't entirely moving out, I'll leave it.
