People love HOA's, that is why they exist. It is a privatized local government.

You would hope Florida's new financial disclosure laws for commissioners will stop these sorts of unwanted expansions.

If there Commissioners weren’t corrupt, in my opinion, they would have never changed the master plan.

There is not enough water for people to survive. Do not buy homes in development areas like this. Huge cost of living!!!

The more you put concrete over natural land the more flooding you'll have . Ground in Florida is saturated and the entire state will be soggy.

Sarasota is always pro development , I remember it was cattle ranches east of Beneva Road, now it is all buildings up to I-75 .on the bright side, your property will soon worth a lot more when the County rezones them and your heirs will enjoy the rewards.

The sad thing is that these people are not going to win the lawsuit I know it sounds horrible but these developers have so much money and so much influence over the area that I can guarantee that the city council or whoever is in control of the land is probably working with them to get as much money as possible, just like downtown Sarasota when the developers come down here to buy a land and build million dollar condos and penthouses that nobody can afford if they're from Florida but only those from outside of the state that bring in money seem to have all of the power and the locals be damned. The sick part about this is Florida is going to turn into New York City eventually where everything is ripped up and paved over with asphalt and then when they increase the taxes on the new properties that they had just built all of that is going to go to waste because nobody can afford what they're building even if they were to reduce it down the inflation with the interest rates with the ever-increasing insurance and HOA dues and power bills are gonna kill everything. All of this is just greed and eventually it's going to be like 2008 again where the housing market will crash and burn. The homes over in Savannah Lakewood ranch area we're going for half a million dollars and now they kept dropping the price because they realized that that area is so overpriced and buyers are selling just to leave the area for cheaper spots.

The state has also taken away a lot of control from local politicians. Last year a Orange county commissioner stated to a irate resident that the state wants residents to complain to the county but new laws at the state level give the developer more rights over residents. The county will be out a lot of taxpayer money & lose the case when sued by a developer.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection should demand an environmental impact statement prior to any approval of this project. The FDEP should have the power to shut it down or demand changes, as needed, to protect the environment. The new FL law that requires commissioners to disclose all sources of income over $1,000 should have some of these commissioners running for cover.
