Such a rotten bit of luck, winning a free car only to enjoy it for half an hour then have the headache of dealing with insurance. Premiums will surely go up too. Maybe it’s a sign that Volvo will serve him right I’m sure.

Not gonna lie Calvin I shed a tear for Richard on this one. Just the whole situation just seems like a real genuine guy that carries a very similar sentiment to myself. That feeling he must have got when he realised he'd won the car from POD the build-up the hype and excitement for the pick up day and the filming of the video only to have this happen to him on the way home! 😢 I really do hope he manages to get the car sorted.

@@richardlahiff1529 Rich, I know you're gutted about this. However, I learned through these small things that life works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, and just sometimes, life throws these curveballs at you, only because it's to save you. I've had times when I got caught up with something, I made by time back 90% but guess what, something occurred where If i was there exactly at the time I was supposed to be, I would not be here today writing this. So instead of looking at this as "why me" or "just another thing to pile on to the crap already", your life might have been spared. Look at that from a positive note, you never know what was waiting for you had you not been hit buddy. You're a good man, it will all be alright. There is a saying I like that was once said, "when you're favored by God, you're also favored by the devil"

Looks like Richard is an absolute top guy, proper gutting that this has happened to him. Hope everything gets sorted for him through motor insurance bureau. Should help keep insurance down with other driver being uninsured

bang on, my mrs was hit by an uninsured truck 5 years ago, lost all no claims, sent her renewal through the roof and still gets punished for it years on, not only the financial it caused her massive PTSD as the crash was pretty close call to life, an absolute disgrace don't even think the truck driver got so much as a slap on the wrist for it all. another "welcome to backwards Britain" @@harrycordiner-barton6878

Will cost him more as the insurance won't be able to claim the damages from an external party hence the costs will be from his insurance. Shame!

@@shahid6184 same situation with my mum had uninsured driver write off her old car. That was the case however when referred to the MIB they took that into account and reimbursed any costs and reinstated her no claims bonus due to accident being no fault of her own and other driver being uninsured

If the other driver was uninsured it’ll cost even more, how do you think his insurance company will claim the money back? It’s the worst case scenario, getting hit by bellend with no insurance

Again, the cars always seem to find the right winner. Shame about his journey home, he is ok which is the main thing and thanks for including this Calvin. There are insurance metrics that will enable you to claim against uninsured drivers. If he was driving for a commercial organization then they will have to pay, especially if the driver was at fault or proven to be. I'm sure he will get the best advice from whomever, plus the police which I am guessing were involved. Real shame though.

Top tip for all. Don't get in the way of trucks. Especially on roundabouts and especially double trailers. If the truck driver is uninsured, surely that truck can be seized.

What about the truck driver? He doesn’t lose his no claims because he didn’t bother getting some insurance before setting off for work
