The atmosphere in this game is the richest I've ever felt in a video game ever. At first I really didn't like the game, but after picking it up the second time, I have to say it's one of my favourite games ever. Just a shame it was cut short (scowls at Square Enix)

@@MineFord Same! For me MD is far superior. Not only in immersion but overall design - both audio and visual - as well as gameplay. I understand people were upset about the story feeling cut short and I wish it wasn't so too, but the pros of this game far outweigh the cons.

This game actually does have a good soundtrack, now that I started playing it. Obviously the bar was set pretty high with DX:HR which has the best OST I've ever heard in a game.

I agree. Neuromancer is one of the greatest cyberpunk novels of all time. Gibson was so far ahead of his time. You should check out Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson next.

@@jonathanewing9833 I did actually, along with Altered Carbon. Snow Crash was decent but that info dump in the middle turned me off, to be honest. Altered Carbon was amazing during my first read of it. Since my comment, I've read Neuromancer a second time and now I respect it a lot more. I actually dig Gibson's writing style now! Overall, all three of them are worth rereading in the future.

Does this theme really play only during the first visit and that's it? I came back to this place and found that the ambient does not change from what is played on the streets and I found it strange. In Human Revolution, it seems that ambient was always tied to a specific location.

Where do people get this music? The official OST is garbage and never has these chill tracks, if it does they always erupt into combat music later

  • @hilotronax

It's called a "gamerip". Every track in a lot of modern games has at least three states: ambient, tension and combat (sometimes also the conversation state and others). Usually when they mix the OST, they combine the states so that the result would be more dynamic. You have to hunt for gamerips to find the separated tracks. And as the name implies, they were ripped directly from game files.
