    I grew up 11 miles from comerica park. When I was 14-19 i would cut grass and collect enough money to take the bus downtown get the $9 seats they had and get as close as i could. Bus ride, tickets, pop and a hot dog for $30 I loved it. I moved out of the area but I still try to come home for at least 1 game a year

    Love this review! I have lived California all my life, but the Tigers were my first T ball team. Been a fan since then. I went for my first time last summer with some family and I was in heaven. It’s tough cheering for the tigers in Oakland sometimes but having everyone around you be a fan just like you is something I’ll never forget. Going back this summer without a doubt. Go Tigers!

    Thanks so much! That’s fantastic! I can relate because the Mets were my first t ball team and I’ve always had a soft spot for them. Hopefully you get to see them when they come to Oakland each year! However, I’m not sure how much longer that’ll be…

    Actually the seagulls come from not only the Detroit River but Lake St Clair which feeds into the Detroit River and Lake Huron feeds into it. A very fun area to be on the water on a hot summer day especially if you own a boat. Detroit ROCKS!

    I never got to experience tiger stadium, because it was no longer in use by the time I was born in 2001. But from 2004 to 2022. I got to experience baseball at this park with my dad until he passed away last year. I miss him every day and I’ll never forget the memories and the love for the game that he helped curate in me. This park has been a fantastic place to call my second home. I hope the Tigers will get back to prominence again in the American League and I can see our boys win a title for the first time since my dad was a kid

They looked larger then life. Great times. I wish they would have refurbished it like Wrigley and fenway. We moved in 1990 but ill always remember tiger stadium with my dad

    I've lost track of the amount of times I've been to Comerica, but I'm _always_ blown away by it. It might not be the "best" park in the league on paper, but no other stadium wears its love for its hometeam as passionately at Comerica.

    I'm probably a bit biased, living in the Detroit area, but I would probably agree. I think I've only been to about 9 active MLB parks... but that number probably approaches 15 if you count places that are now demolished... and Comerica is right up there.

    The area outside of Comerica isn’t bad. You must’ve parked in the garage and walked directly to the park. There is a Tiger Town area and HockeyTown Cafe multiple great places to eat and beautiful architecture to see etc. We’re talking about a major city not the suburbs somewhere. Detroit rocks! People not from the area have no clue what to do or where to go so that makes sense to think it’s disappointing.

    Excellent video! Loved the attention to detail that you paid. You obviously did some good research too. Very well done for a first timer. I have never been to a stadium that has better standing room. You can stand IN FRONT OF those fancy wooden seats (known as "Tiger Den") and almost get behind home plate. We would go there after every 7th inning stretch and just stand until the end of the game.

    Where to begin with this? Well, I grew up in central Michigan in the 80’s and 90’s, although I’ve lived in central Florida for the past 25 years. I sadly never did get to a Tigers game at the original Tiger Stadium, but I do totally respect what it was and its historic nature. Since Comerica opened in 2000 though, I’ve been to a good number of games there in returning back to Michigan to visit family, and I do think it was the right decision to build a new ballpark in the heart of downtown. I even had photos taken with my sister’s wedding party outside Comerica in the fall of 2003. By today’s standards, I think Comerica can be pretty basic. But I still think it more than holds up, and is neat. One of my only gripes, as you mentioned in this video, is that it doesn’t have much shade. And even being Michigan, from June through August you can really get fried there at games. But the exterior details like the tiger sculptures and statues I think are amazing. And I think it’s great that all of Detroit’s pro sports are now back downtown, helping bolster the city’s comeback. I do wish that Comerica had better regional food options. They’ve tried, but in my opinion have slightly missed the mark. For instance, one very Michigan thing up in the U.P. is a pasty. A very traditional Welsh mining food thing, brought over by the Welsh immigrants to the mining in the upper peninsula. Only Comerica tried to combine that with other odd things in 2022, not making it traditional, but combining it with pizza or Detroit coney dogs. Yuck! Stick to the traditional. But overall Comerica is a ballpark that I think has longevity, as far as structure, location, etc. It just needs to evolve as it ages. As one last note, the tile logos and in a few other areas on the exterior are all tiles from a a very historic local company on the northeast side of downtown called Pewabic Pottery. They are a historic site in Michigan still in operation, and it was very deliberate that they made special tiles for the exterior of Comerica. I think they even made exterior tiles for Publix Merchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida too, where the Tigers have had spring training since 1934.

  • @SACSportsAdventures

    @SACSportsAdventures

    What a great idea! That would be amazing to have a pasty at a ballpark! The thing that stood out to me the most while there was the attention to detail. The sculptures outside, the designs in the exterior, and the patterns lining the concourse. All those details and branding touches really blew me away. I went in not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised!

    Not gonna lie, I had pretty low expectations for the Tigers (go Guards!), but that looks like a fantastic stadium. They squeezed a ton of cool stuff in that concourse! If you come back to Comerica Park get the orange alcoholic slushy. That’s the best one. Overall it’s a nice ballpark and I enjoy going to Tiger games but the outfield view could definitely be improved. Doesn’t help the field is so deep. Always best to sit on the base line when possible or up in the mezzanine if you’re looking to save a few bucks (the 200 level detached from the upper deck). Also if you enjoy craft beer there’s a great little Michigan craft beer place in right field. Perfect if you like porters or IPAs

    When Comerica Park first opened I hated this place. I wanted old Tiger Stadium back. This place was so sterile, plain, just sucked. Over the years thought they really improved, and added a lot to it. I like Comerica Park now, but still do miss old Tiger Stadium. The original left field wall was the back of the bullpen wall this is why the seats are not as steep. The bullpen was originally behind the right center field wall. The ball park was to big that’s why they brought the fences in left field and moved the bullpen there. In 2023 they are bringing in the center field wall too, but still will be a large part.

    I still miss Tiger Stadium and think Comerica has not aged well with its sightlines. The seats are all far away (especially with the outfield fences moved in) and the seating pitch is way too gradual and pushed back. I suspect this was done to avoid having the upper deck be so high like at the white sox ballpark but the upper level seats still feel distant, and the huge amount of rows crammed into the lower level are mediocre too. The configuration of the stadium makes it feel like a sauna during day games, much hotter than Detroit actually is, as there is very little shaded seating. Basically a boring and bland uninspired stadium design that looks like whoever in charge greenlit the first rendering HOK/Populos presented without actually putting any effort into making it hold up to its legendary predescessor. Take away the decorations, flair and other attractions on the concourse and the only thing making this somewhat better than a cookie cutter stadium is that it was always intended to be built for baseball.

  • @SACSportsAdventures
