Isiah’s my all time favorite athlete. I remember watching this as a 12 or 13 yr old kid. I BEGGED my father to rent this from Blockbuster Video back in the late summer or fall of 1989. He finally brought it home one Friday night while I was already asleep and I woke up that Saturday morning and saw it sitting on the VCR in the living room the next morning and almost lost control of my bodily functions (I thought I was gonna be headed to the ER at Detroit Children’s Hospital…but I had a video to watch 😎)

My favorite team, ever. They should have won at least 3 titles. They got ripped off in '88 by a phantom foul call at the end of game 7. Pistons took out the Bird Celtics, Jordan Bulls and Showtime Lakers in 1 year. Underrated.

@@calvinhaskett6190 that’s said about every current state of basketball. In the 80s the bigs and wings were said to have been inferior to Wilt, a prime Kareem, Willis Reed, and guards like Nate “TIny” Archinold, and Oscar Robertson of the past. In the 90s and 00s KG was too young with Iverson and Kobe were disrespectful to the game with Iverson “carryon the ball,” Kobe “hot doggin,” and too much “playground ball.” T-Mac should’ve went to college because he was “crying about zone defense.” Now today’s game is supposedly “too soft.”

Pistons actually won 3 straight. That wasn't a foul on laimbeer on that jabber skyhook. I saw it in RIGHT AT THE MOMENT! time, but u kind folk can watch ⌚ it on 30 for 30. It's when the ref blows the WHISTLE! which made it that much harder worse.

Bill Laimbeer never committed foul in his life. Just watch his reaction every time the referee whistled him for a foul. So in closing he was innocent of any foul he was charged with in over 10 years of play. Laimbeer also went over 10 years without ever creating his own shot off the dribble.

This video brings back so many memories. I was fortunate to see 65 Piston games that season and it was magical. The news was notorious for only showing low-lights, hard fouls and altercations. That's how the Pistons got a bad reputation. Most people didn't get to see the great basketball team that they were. And because of Detroit, you could no longer win an NBA championship, without defense. They changed the game.

So much slobbering over Jordan, you have to really pay attention to realize it was the Pistons who won the series. And that they were RETURNING to the Finals, not “finally realizing their potential against the Bulls. They wouldn’t lose to the Bulls in the playoffs for two more years, yet the narrative makes it seem like it was the Bulls instead of the Celtics and Lakers who really stood in the way.

Y’all don’t play basketball and don’t have an eye for it. Are any of the players you all want us to pick. Are they better than Jeremy Grant. That’s how you measure if we should get a wing. Kobe had Shaq. Cade needs Zach. Why don’t y’all understand Detroit Basjetball and Cades and Ivets game. We have a winning young core. We need that Big fella and it’s Zach Edey. Trade Duren for a pick. He’s not a low post threat. Cade can’t just dump it down and he’s got a go to move. Zach Edey has it. Y’all not seeing our team fit its needs. None of these wings you are suggesting we get is gonna help us. Point guard then center. That’s how the Game of basketball is Typically played. Detroit we are gonna be sorry if we don’t pick Edey. Whatever you guys see in a wing coming and helping us win. Y’all are out y’all basketball minds. We may as well trade Cade. I’m a guard and I would love if I had Edey to dump it to. Lakers would have three peat if no hamstring injuries to Bryan Scott and magic. Trust me lakers win that series in 5 games in 1989 finals. Remember they swept 3 teams before meeting Detroit pistons

Or the Lakers would’ve lost in 88 if not for Isaiah’s ankle injury. That seems more likely.

Pistons wouldn't have won in '89 if it weren't for Magic's injury. But credit where its due they took advantage of a lucky situation.
