The Scene, saved so many black young lives from 6pm to 7pm in all urban cities where it viewed in the State of Michigan, from the early 70 to the mid 80’s. Thank you guys for being the best one hour babysitters and bringing families together to enjoy the Greatest Dancers in the World. ❤️❤️❤️

I grew up in a white household downriver. we loved the scene!!. It was like we were missing out on something cool and we were afraid the social stigma of racism. But my parents didn't care about all that. I have to thank them for that!! Detroit will rise!!

I love coming back to this video to look for new responses and possible leads to more clips. I was also one of the few white chicks to dance on The Scene. I started watching it in 1982 and was blown away by the music. I knew I HAD to be on that show. I was the really tall white girl... as tall as Lawanda. My trademark was wearing one black leather glove, LOL. Oh man - great stuff.

Hello neighbor!! I’m in Detroit, born & raised. I always loved as a lil child how we could watch Canadian shows on channel 9. I think there was another Canadian channel too, but idk the #. I had my own black and white TV in my playroom I’d find Canadian shows on. I’m in My 40’s.

I was on back in early to mid-80s and often danced with Superman/Clark Kent (Ed). People sometimes called me "the other white girl" because Mary Lu was on first. People thought we were "arch" enemies but Mary Lu and I were (and still are) friends. Great to see this stuff.

And you're right-watching these old episodes do bring back memories! 12-13-23.

Wow...the memories of our fair city. Detroit was so fun, and little did we know that The Seene would be an icon of pop culture. I was talking with my kids about Cheryl Peoples winning with her partner, also from Det. whose name escapes me, and got linked to this site from another. This is great. Can't wait to share. Detroit's you are the best,. love your wisdom upon God's grace. I ws at the motown museum twice and saw the jacksons at a rehearsal . you really y bring life until the fullest. I had a great grand aunt once lived in your city and I'm from new York originally and raised still lives my north Carolina since 1987, is when I saw the new dance show Sunday afternoons on wyed channel 17, too much nasty girls gyrating too much don't like that show, thanks nat morris, but I'm.a fast Freddy fan thank God he still dancing with small kids and travel around the country like I did. my thought is so standing to where black k art on tv makes things better from sexy guys like the dominators and the tasteless like spx-90 with the gumbo song, laughed my heart out, there's where the funk.and truthful came in. thanks ks channel 62 and north Carolina 17 been owned by NBC. that was straight up memories.

Hey, I remember seeing this news item at a friend's house back around 2003 or so---it was the first time I'd ever seen anything on the Scene, considering how long it was on. I was too young to get on it (I think they didn't let anybody under 18 on, or something like that.) I remember watching the Scene---unfortunately by the time I was old enough to get on it,it had gone off the air. I read a book about Detroit TV which devotes a chapter to the Scene, but I can't remember/find the title of it!
