It's in Tunbridge Wells. I went there today. In the 1st car park it's very dirty; I got pigeon pooh all over my shoes. The 2nd lift goes between the BR car park & the Morrisons car park (Which acts as overflow for the BR car park). Tunbridge Wells Central is one of my favourite stations (There are 2: Tunbridge Wells Central & Tunbridge Wells West). The 3rd set of lifts goes into the supermarket.

+Aaron Burtt A later voice unit is wired into the existing logic circuits. When it plays a message at the wrong moment is because of the timings of the circuits with how the voice is wired. This very simple voice is probably just wired into the lift car itself. All it can see is the floor indicator circuits and the door motor circuit (using resistors as this is much higher voltage). A way to solve the problem is if the voice unit played the floor message only when the door is opening. This would either require a more complex voice unit, or for the lift engineer to wire in the AND gate himself (e.g. use the door motor as the base of a transistor on each floor circuit so that the floor circuit only fires when the doors open). The reason that the lift keeps saying going up is that the direction indicator circuits must be triggering it somehow (either that or it has been wired in wrong). The voice is activated on the ONTRUE (rising edge) of the circuit. Electronics can be very sensitive to the change of circuit states even for less than a milisecond of a second (for example circuit bounce can cause multiple ONTRUE and ONFALSE to fire when a button is pressed as the moment the switch makes contact there is a slight shudder in the circuit). Maybe the direction indicator cuts out for a tiny moment when passing each floor. The logic in these lifts is old. There are a few oddities too it such as that it didn't change the indicator to 4 until it had fully stopped.

+Tony Baines I always look for a switch. The shaft lights must only be at the bottom of the shaft in this one. It was too risky to open it down there.

@@blue.light.fazbear Perhaps. Wouldn't be too unusual if they did generic mods like I know they do in Australia. Other than that, this lift seems to have no visible relationship with Otis at all, though, and I've seen that Otis cartop control on many lifts that otherwise aren't Otis obviously.

I like my old Quark X AA2 which is called something different now, like that it always starts on moonlight unless you twist the head :) Also I really like the Zebralight SC5 neutral white, Thrunite Archer again in neutral white and Olight S15 Baton sadly not in neutral white and they were all recommended by the reviewer Selfbuilt. I know Beno will love all of them for surfing lifts perhaps with a diffuser for a floody beam! All mine take AAs.

+. “ccityplanner12” It's just a plain simple 8mm triangular key. I was able to 3D print one. But there are many many shops on the internet for company emergency assistance teams. I bought a key for parking gates on the street but the outside diameter was a bit too large, just grinded it down with an angle grinder, now it fits :D I was able to turn the key on the liftdoor but couldn't open it, probably because the lift was already right behind te door. I don't want to get caught doing this stuff so i left it for what it was so far. I will never surf a lift on my own though, it's life dangerous.

I just tried opening the liftdoor in my appartment while it was one floor below. Didn't succeed unfortunately. The emergency brake did work though :D Enough messing around anyway, i don't want troubles with my landlord.. :D

Thoose conpanies who keeps using Lester controllers also let it take care of the lift positioning. No wonder why it levels so horribly. They sould get an frequenser who took care of the task to positionate the elevator, not only Control the speed on it, and the controllers should only tell the frequencer where to go, and keep track on Everything else, without inferering. Because, it is the frequenser who keeps tracks on positions and take care of that who makes the intelligent levling, as they can calculate exacly when they should slow down to a stop when they are closing in. Having the controllers to decide when to stop is never good, as they don't know the frequenser and how it works, and cannot calculate when to slow down, so they uses a set of distance to slow down and level with... and that's the difference between letting the "dump" controllr decide the position and letting the "self-known" frequencer decide the position and distance, etc.!

06:35 - phew! Not caught this time. Seriously Ben, you should consider stop doing the "detailed look". Even though I really like these informative videos, but they're not worth to get caught and reported and in worst case, sentenced by court. As a person being sentenced, you just might become a member of parliament then :) A very terrible fate. Also you've now done a "detailed look" onto most of the interesting sort of lifts. Did you actually think about becoming a lift engineer? You've got a lot of knowledge about lifts. Much more than I can actually think of.

+Uplifting PostTower That is a great idea! Ben you should look at this as a career. also keep in mind the young people that watch your videos as well. You want to set a good example. You have an excellent collection of "detailed look" videos. You know alot about these machines so why not try to make a living off it?

+DieselDucy I guess it's very hard to become a lift engineer. I looked into it for a little bit. You need all the electronic and mechanical school diplomas for it. So that's many years of study, which requires a lot more commitment than breaking open liftdoors and pushing two buttons..

+Richard van Pukkem I have got an extended diploma in electronic engineering (my grade is triple distinction star). The college was originally not going to teach the distinctions as they had messed up on some previous work and they were wanting students to re do it. This was for the colleges benefit (to make them look good, the students had already got the lower grades). I had to fight to get my distinctions. I am now at university. doing computer science. University is complete crap. The teachers are so lazy. They drone on through the lectures which are boring and uninspiring and then they disappear. you never even see the teachers outside of lectures, they never help the students. Uni is very isolating, the way you are given work from there computer system, that you have to do with no input from anyone is very depressing. The worst thing about uni is at attitudes people have are very sad. People often say things such as they are only at uni to get a highly paid job. And the reason they want this is so that they can have loads of money, and why do they want loads of money.... To go and buy a stupid overpriced car just to show off that they are better than everyone else. The government doesn't care about individuality, they love the fact that people lust over stupid cars, as it keeps them quiet doing long hours in dull jobs in the hope of achieving their dream about acquiring status (and never questioning the capitalist system). These sorts of attitudes makes me sick. I went to uni because I wanted to learn things, not because I want a high paid job. There is very little learning at uni. I could become a lift engineer but I don't want to. Doing it as a job would take all the fun out of it. I am not interested in getting loads of money working on lifts, as what is money for, to make yourself happy? If I worked on lifts all day then I wouldn't enjoy spending money going places to find lifts, so what is the point of having the money.

I totally agree. This is what I know from university life too. I also really wonder why so many students still expect a well-paid job as some sort of automatism when graduating at the university. In Germany, we've got some sort of practical education where you work and learn in a company aswell as in a school - it is called "Ausbildung" and you can probably learn much better this way. Wonder if there is a similar system in England too. I also heard many students goto university to avoid the complicated applications for a job and go the lazy way as it is most likely easier to get into the university rather than getting a good (which doesnt not necessearly mean "well-paid") job. The class or caste-like thinking like "I graduated at the university so I am standing above you" is what sucks most. And at least since the French Revolution we should know that aristocracy can be a real bitch ;-) I have also successfully graduated at a business and administration school, especally in subjects with computing where I always got the best possible grades. It is just because I like to learn. After all, having a lot of money will not save one from crashing the newely bought expensive car and send them for the rest of their life into the wheelchair. Or preventing their love from leaving. Money can take problems. For example when you are stuck somewhere and need a taxi home because the damn bus or train is broken. Or just to afford some fun like a visit in an amusement park or a journey on a cruise ship (which I really enjoy by the way!) It can be useful to be quite wealthy. But the main objective - at least for me - about my life is to experience, see, learn and get happy.
