    If you’re cutting from underneath, or coping, the light could be shining in your eye. And a fan blowing dust away will interfere with sucking as much dust up as possible. That’s why they added switches.

    I need to add one more pertinent piece of info…I have been using the older Milwaukee M12 non-FUEL jigsaw for about 5 years. Last year I dropped and broke the metal foot. After seeing Milwaukee Pipeline 2023 I decided to holdout and wait for the new M12 FUEL jigsaw to hit the stores…I’m glad I did. I bought mine a couple of weeks ago at Home Depot. Final price out the door…$115.00. I used the Milwaukee Hack. It came with a free 2.5 amp battery, of which I didn’t need. After purchasing the jigsaw and free battery, I returned the battery, receiving $54.00 back.

    Yeah the new one is just leaps and bounds better than the previous model. I'm shocked you used it for five years, it was literally unusable to me, ranks high on my list of 'worst tools ever' NICE move with the hack, def the way to do it when you have enough batteries already.

    I’ve been using M12 and M18 tools for about 5 years. I have about 40 or so, with the majority being FUEL. One thing I know for sure, especially when testing between competitive products…the batteries matter big time. The FUEL tools communicate with the batteries. When using M18 you need to use the HO (High Output) batteries to be competitive, for an apples to apples performance. With the M12 use either the new 5.0 amp battery or the 6.0 amp battery. Especially when testing drills, drivers, impacts and saws. By using a 2 amp or 2.5 amp 12 volt battery against a Dewalt Powerstack 20 volt battery it wasn’t really an equatable test. Try redoing the test using an M12 6 amp battery, then let us know the results. In addition, your going to have better balance using the larger batteries.

    As much as I like the svelte-ness of the cylindrical batteries (and travel with the 2.5 loaded) I must agree that the weight on the sole plate is more evenly distributed with the “footed” 5&6 Ahr M12 batteries. I practically use my fingertips for scroll cutting and the “80# tube sand over the rear axle” mellows out the tool travel on the turns. Especially with the plastic sole plate cover. Maintaining intimate contact between sole plate and work piece yields best results. I so much enjoy this new acquisition that I find excuses to use it even just for wonton wood butchery (and “fruitful” experimentation). As a product designer I find the ergonomics flawless. Video and story is a 10. Thanks. #milwaukeem12fuel

    The switch is the toggle between the dust, blower and dust extraction. When you turn the dust blower off it now pushes the dust towards the back for dust extraction. It’s the same way on their M 18. So it’s not a matter of turning it on or off as it is toggling between extraction, or just blowing it out of your way. Because obviously, if you’re blowing it out of the way to the sides that’s working against the vacuum trying to extract it through the back.

  • @ProToolsApproved

    @ProToolsApproved

    7 ай бұрын

    Ah that makes total sense now. With the dust shroud included that is to be installed when you use the dust extracting tube that installs in the back. Thank you for clearing that up for me! Very cool.

    Not quite sure what the relevance is from comparing a 12v tool with the small capacity battery on to a 20v tool. Obviously the dewalt should perform much better but I was surprised how well the Milwaukee matches up. I will certainly be adding the Milwaukee to go with with my corded Festool jigsaw as I already have a bunch of m12 tools and batteries. Being able to hold the barrel a lot closer towards the blade definitely looks like it makes the Milwaukee much better to handle.

  • @ProToolsApproved

    @ProToolsApproved

    7 ай бұрын

    You kinda said it right there. It shows how much the gap between 18/20v tools and 12v tools has been closed. Pointing out if you're shopping for a barrel grip and you're only on M12 platform, no need to get into another battery platform, the M12 holds it's own against higher voltage competition.

    It actually is a valid comparison, even if on power alone 18V should theoretically win every time unless DeWalt is doing something wrong. I for one use both Milwaukee and DeWalt tools and find myself wondering if I should get M12 or DeWalt's compact and Atomic tools with 1.7Ah powerstack batteries sometimes. Things aren't as straightforward as we might think from comparing just voltage/power, for instance the Dewalt blade release lever rattles like crazy and is distracting - that's a point for M12 if one prefers smaller tools.

  • @ProToolsApproved

    @ProToolsApproved

    I'm a total lover of the power stack batteries, I run nearly all my DeWalt on the smaller power stacks, the larger 5.0 on more thirsty tools. All my traditional cell batteries are collecting dust.

  • @ProToolsApproved

    @ProToolsApproved

    6 ай бұрын

    I mean, I could give you reason for both sides of the question, so I'll tell you what I've already done. Is it better than the Dewalt over all? No, it's still 12v, is it amazing compared to the first M12 jig they made, a resounding yes! That being said, I'm going to assume you've already got both battery platforms and own the DeWalt already, is the M12 THAT MUCH BETTER? Absolutely not. Is it equally comparable given the little differences, absolutely yes. I enjoyed the M12 and it's a great addition to any collection, but not so much so i'd have to have both. I parted ways with the M12 just recently, sticking with the Dewalt, and I don't regret that choice. Now i'm tracking down the yet unreleased new Hikoki brushless 36v barrel grip, that may very well get me to give up DeWalt, but only time and testing will tell once I eventually get my hands on one.
