    I'd agree with the Kiln Escape, but I think that sequence works for the same reason the Nebula/Gamora fight in Vol 2 works: it's very character driven. It's the moment the Guardians become a team and everyone gets a moment to contribute.

  • @swanpride

    @swanpride

    5 жыл бұрын

    You can't just remove one part of the action scenes and then judge them. The humor is part of the action scenes in GotG, it's not some separate thing. Plus, the scenes are also extremely character driven. Btw, the reason why the fight between Nebula and Gamora is most likely the weakest action scene in a movie so full of great moments, it would be an essay in itself to list all of them, is not because the fight isn't well done, but because the rivalry between those two is the most underwritten aspect of the movie. Largely due to them cutting nearly all the scenes between Gamora and Nebula for time.

    This is why GOTG2 really shines. It's clearly devoted to exploring the characters, and using every tool it can to develop their relationships to each other - the big family dynamics. There's very little time not spent working on character themes, even in the action. It's easily one of the strongest MCU films, for that reason - most of the other films get distracted from their core story at some point. It's the only MCU film that made me cry.

    Nebula's arc in Endgame could have been explored more but it was very well crafted when she killed her former self. Also while Gamora finally made her admit her trauma she didn't aid much to it, I think meeting Tony was deal changer for Neb, while we didn't get much from it in the movie you can sense she enjoyed her time with him, especially when he wasn't mad at her winning a silly game. Tony's arc in the MCU was basically about becoming a father figure and making the ultimate sacrifice to impact the future and boy did he impact Nebula by showing her kindness that her father never showed her "you won, congrats, good game" her expression said it all. (I so wish we had seen more of it, it was nice seeing her on such good terms with Rhodey tho)

    Still find Guardians 2 weaker of the two. Its big action scenes and plotlines both felt messy and unfocused. It had great moments. That said, there were way too many spoon-fed, ARE-YOU-FEELING-THE-EMOTIONS-OF-THESE-CHARACTERS moments for dramatic purposes (ex: "All I wanted was a sister!" "I know who you are, boy, because you're me!") Only thing that truly stood out was Yondu's arc.

There are elements in it that are great but they don’t flow together too well and they feel forced at times. Agree to disagree. I think the first Iron Man’s final fight was great.

    But what kind of setup are you watching these movies on? Only someone watching on a laptop would care so much about character development or themes or whatever, and say the set pieces are forgettable. Watch on 150" screen in 3D with surround sound, and you won't give a crap about character development. When you asked if we could remember any action scenes, and after I recalled several, I thought to see if I remembered any character scenes, and I don't lol To be honest, I couldnt really describe what Guardians of the Galaxy's story is about. Not that I care. I'd go watch The Piano if I wanted drama.

    Yeah but they were too late and still lost. Even when he was gone, the effect of his plan was felt for half a decade. That was inevitable, and yet our heroes did not give up.

    I love the MCU but lets talk about their bad action sequence and this ain't opinion.....its the facts. Everything from Spider-man Homecoming was bad except the Washington monument part, Thor vs Hela at the end of Ragnarok......poor choreography, South Korea part of Age Of Ultron, Everything from Cap.Marvel was just bad except for the climax(which was also bad), Antman n the Wasp was just boring, Black Panther's every fight was poorly edited crap......especially the CGI Panther at the end. You can add things too.

    @Snehil Shrey I can't tell if your agreeing or disagreeing with me, but seriously Im a film student and that movie was objectively bad. Its the second Marvel movie too screw up the "superhero moment" first being, Thor TDW. The writing, direction, editing was just terrible. Larson is a good actress, but the material she got for Cap.Marvel was just shit. People don't hate the movie because of internet politics. Some of us were really hoping the film to be good, and it was not even remotely. Its one of those rushed corporate movie that capitalized on current societies landscape. Im not against anything here, I wish it was good as other MCU movies. But at the end of the day its just a movie.

    @Snehil Shrey 1st They don't teach you film/art is subjective. The only ones who use this are the ones are the ones who doesn't have the balls to defend the art they claim to be good. 2nd I know Im expecting movies to be perfect. And that's definitely not fair. But I just hate to see movies with so much potential gets butcher because of trying to capitalize on current society's landscape.( ex. JL, Cap.Marvel ) 3rd I don't give a rats ass about who it is targeted too. Its either good or bad. I am a guy. Just because the movie has a feminism theme I'm not gonna shut my mouth and not call it out if its bad. Again, the potential being wasted is not something Ill be taking it lightly. Although if it resonated with you Im good with that. But your not defending the film with its merits. Your just saying Im wrong because Im wrong? But when it comes to objectively looking at films( which btw you can ) bad movies are bad and good movies are good. Pretentious agenda is not logical. But I am.
