DESTROY D4: The Budapest Gambit

Ойындар

Hello everyone! This is my complete guide to playing the Budapest Gambit or Budapest Defense, coming after d4 Nf6, c4 and e5. This is a very underrated weapon against the Queen's Pawn, and allows to reach highly tactical and positional games, that aren't mind numbingly boring, like that of many d4 openings sadly are. I cover every popular variation white can play in great detail. Thank you for watching, like and subscribe for more, and have a great day!
0:00 Adler Variation
5:24 Rubinstein Variation
11:20 Declined w/ Nc3
13:17 Declined w/ d5
16:14 f4 (destroy this!)
19:22 Alekhine Variation
23:16 Shereshvesky Variation

Before watching this video i was a zillionare, i had houses all over the world, 35 beautiful children, hundreds of expensive cars, and thirteen giga-yachts. But ever since i watched this video its all gone away, my wives took everhthing from me, and now i live as a mimimum wage employee. CURSE YOU VOLCLUS! I am SO GLAD you were torn apart atom by atom in 1989 by KGB scientists R.I.P(iss).

QGD for solid, sound positions and Budapest if you want a higher win rate and a higher loss rate at the same time with absolutely no draws

15:00 so interesting! e4 starts as Stockfish's best move, while castling is not even top 5 until depth 24. Yet after depth 30, the top is Na4, e4 and 0-0 at the same approximate value. Castling gets to second place at depth 32! a3 comes out of nowhere to be best move at depth 34 and dies around 37. Castling becomes best move at depth 38 and e4 is thrown to the bin, behind even something like a3, h3 or Rb1.

8:42 why do you say White's best option is f4? It's SF's sixth move, 1.2 points from Nb5, considered best. I see f4 is the second most played move on lichess (well, 4 games). Where does this move come from?

  • @Volclus

I think I got it slightly mixed up, as f4 is the best move in many similar positions

Are you aware of the graif gambit? It comes after the Budapest accepted, Ng4, Bf4, Nc6, Nf3, and then f6, white takes f6, queen takes, and white now has to defend the bishop and the b2 pawn. FM William graif has a great video on it, very tricky and trappy that is definitely what id play over g5

Seems fun and tricky, but sadly after 7.e3 or 7.Qd2 it is both objectively bad, and scores poorly for black, but it does seem to have some potential.

@@Volclus7. Qd2 actually is evaluated by stockfish as a draw, if we follow william graif’s recommendations. But 7. e3 is just shit for black but you get some compensation, tricks, and fun for the knight you will probably have to end up gambiting. Still, the refutation has been found only 12 times out of ~9400 games and even if i lose cus of my opponent knowing it somehow at least its fun and not some closed ruy lopez giucco pianissimo lol

I am finding success in Vienna gambit but its boring if your opponent is trying for a draw.If your opponent is always playing for a win or is bad,its very good but if you have a opponent that plays solidly and tries for equality. Its a boring death where you will die if you try for a win.Look out for kings gambit or jobava London .I heard it's good.
