@@chandrashakarkuldeep4792 Pretty much, yeah. As someone who started with New Light the game really doesn't incentivise liberal use of your powers so it took me a while to learn that using them on enemies that weren't just the boss wasn't a bad thing. Also depending on what your stat spread is (and armour mods but I won't get into that) those orbs can feel incredibly non-valuable.

Personally, I think Toland believes too strongly in the Sword Logic. He's guiding us, helping us grow in power, only so that we may sharpen the blades of whoever- or whatever- is at the top the pyramid, or that we may prove stronger than them and take their place- and he clearly thinks we cannot win

You can store about 3,000 books per GB *before compressing.* English(and other human languages) can compresses to about 1/10 the size, so that puts us at 30,000 books/GB. The best estimate for the total number of books recorded is 129,864,880. Once you work out all the math, it comes out to being about 4TB. In other words, a $100 hard drive could hold all of the books ever written up to date. If you cut that down to just culturally significant writings, you could quite easily fit all of that into a single GB.

  • @acgearsandarms1343

Amir Abudubai You’re kind of missing the point of my comment. A lot of classical literature wouldn’t have survived the Collapse. We lost a lot of history because it was a near extinction level event. Some aren’t even referenced by well-versed Guardians. This implies Toland read it. Warlocks prefer to read books anyways as opposed to data. So finding a copy itself is a miracle in my eyes.

  • @amirabudubai2279

You are kinda missing my point. It is well established that the collapse did hardly any damage to objects; it was more like people and most AI were justed wiped away. All the damage you see in the golden age structures was from the dark age. The odds that every copy was destroyed by raiders and bandits is particularly 0. Rather or not any given book was found is a different story. Also, that is ignoring the ones that survived the collapse. The awoken, failsafe, Rasputin, and all the various golden age AI probably have knowledge of it

He doesn't give a rat's ass about us or our safety as long as he gets to learn more through watching our progress. Sure he helps us but he's only helping to glean more knowledge. He's such an interesting character with history and motivations shrouded in mystery.

I love the lore videos about the destiny universe, they’re so enticing and interesting to me and they’re clear and vague at the same time, they spur curiosity and imagination unlike franchises like Star Wars, Halo, or Warhammer 40,000 but most of the information in these franchises are oversaturated with information which leaves little room for leaves little thoughts into what could happen. The lore in this I wouldn’t say is better than other franchises, but they address lore in such an interesting way where it answers questions in a quick and concise manner yet also is vague enough to make me ask more questions. I love it and the team that works on these lore tabs are very talented and I think are somewhat under appreciated. Props to these people.

Hmmm thinking that maybe the death song strips the light out of someone and thus they perish but what if toland found a loophole so that he can still be around. I found it interesting that his Ghost wasn't opposed to the idea of Toland going to hear the song. Even went as far as to speak of the Traveler in a very unusual manner for a Ghost. I'm no fan of the Praxic Order, nor the Shadows of Yor, (nor the vanguard for that matter) I think all of them are equally... enchanted by the wrong idea and/or ideals. The Drifter and Toland might not be so different, taking a middle ground between light and dark. Which is a stance I can get behind. Both, the Drifter and Toland are probably worth understanding, or at least worth the attempt of understanding. I wouldn't go as far as Toland though, not yet anyway. Insight is good, but at what cost.

I found Guren's final message to be so compelling. Firstly, he implies that Toland got his sobriquet before his "death". Next there's Guren in general who had the same ethos as Toland. I get that ghosts have their own, distinct personalities, but Guren speaks with all the zeal of a fallen angel who followed Lucifer. How did he get that way? Did Toland persuade him to question the very matter of which he was composed?

I think it may be fair to say Toland may have studied under Ulan-Tan and spoken with Osiris, as to my knowledge all 3 guardians exiled were warlocks who's perspectives were controversial and seen as dangerous to the vangaurd, yet all three spoke of great truths that were ignored and now the vangaurd is learning the price to be paid for their prideful arrogance.... Nezarec is coming...

I remember how there was talk of Oryx after the "death a chrysalis" piece, in the Juju lore tab.. I'm now even more curious, and perhaps it needs further examination now.. Could it be referring to the soul transference techniques done by Malkanth (sp?) and their siblings? They were Hive royalty, were they not?

I can’t help but wonder across the whole storyline of destiny which class and or subclass fits the role laid out for the protagonists best. Like who would toland believe in to be his universe slaying gun? Maybe a lone gunslinger who prefers to let his gun (and his ghost) do the talking. Perhaps a striker charging head first into danger for the sake of glory. Or maybe a void walker who ever first screaming into the void heard something answer and she never stops looking. Maybe it’s meant to be one of each class, each exotic, quest and reward being allocated to the best fit. I wish story cut scene reflect this while in a fireteam but alas, Bungie still have their heads in halo cutscenes.

I feel like there is an unspoken significance to the phrase,"What lean tithes you are to them". I feel like this could some sort of correlation to the nine and the whole light vs. darkness plot that could help bring things full circle.

The one thing Ive always wondered is did Toland know or hear about Dredgen Yor and his turn to darkness. Or at least be aware of him at all considering Tolands timeline of life since he was already exiled by the time of the great disaster. I’ve wondered where he was.

I wish we could customize out ghost's voice or have it atleast randomized. The dead ghost quests and other mentions imply each ghost is unique, I feel this would help enrich the immersion of Destiny.

Toland is actually my favorite Warlock. Osiris may have had his eyes on the Vex, but Toland is the man who I greatly respect, mostly because he knew that people would be foolish to just put all their investment in the light. Even Spider says "Heh heh heh Oh you really showed them didn't you? Piece of advice Eh? Know your enemy before you... deal with them." -- Spider after failing to killing the Barons all at once Toland is the guy that truly does not fear power nor would he allow it to corrupt him. He's definitely wise enough to be stupid to let it. I am a Hunter to my core, but I will break to defenses like any Titan and have the insatiable thirst for knowledge of let's say Ikora.

Dredgen Yor was “mad”. Toland wasn’t driven mad by anything, not in that sense; he was just weird to begin with. Not too unprecedented, granted he was a practicing Thanatonaut.
