Not only did he bug out for me and not attack, the enemies were absolutely TRICKLING in. Like, only 2 or 3 Knights at a time. I didn't realize it was bugged until now. Wish I could replay the mission.

Something important to note about the Ammonites: the Traveller gifted them a song called the "song of life", which must have been pretty powerful because the Hive were eventually able to create a mirrored version of it in the form of the first Deathsong. This original Deathsong was so powerful that 12 Deathsingers spaced out around a planet could singlehandedly bring it to ruin.

So far we've only ever seen 8 of them, Ir Anuk and Ir Halak in King's Fall, Ir Yut in Crota's end, then the 4 members of the Choir of the Damned and then another one that isn't named in the quest where we get Deathbringer

Honestly not having Ir-Uulxal not attack me was... Not unnerving but definitely made me feel really odd. He didnt stare at the wall, he just stood there tracking all my movements. It felt like he was analyzing me and gauging my combat prowess. When i got near him he almost immediately deleted me which was really cool to see. This hive champion of war, just hyper analyzing everything i do and when i finally approach him out of curiosity he kills me immediately. Shit was cool.

I’m disappointed her new champion wasn’t just wrathborn Kelgorath or Kelgorath with a ghost.

My hope is that the end of this season has Eris and Xivu battling it out themselves in the background as we face the Leviathan-Eater. Both knowing that, whoever falls first, the tribute their death would provide would easily turn the tide of the grander battle taking place.

The leviathan eaters designs gotta be my favorite hive design, 2nd would be crota. I hope xivu arath has an equally or cooler design when we eventually face her.

I'd imagine their use of the Light was quite similar to our own during the Golden Age. Dramatically advanced technology, new sciences, extended lifetimes, advanced weaponry, and unlocking the more paracausal nature of the Light.

I hope that one day the Young Wolf gets hyped up in the same way Xivu hyped up Ir Uulxal during their title acquisition.

I think that’s already the case amongst every known enemy or friendly force in our system. Look at Saint-14, the Vex whom have traversed all of time needed to create a special Vex just to kill him and even showed a semblance of respect to his body. He was also known as the equivalent of a boogieman to the Eliksni. That’s just one Guardian! We have broken Crowns, Disciples, Gods, and even Time itself. Yeah I’m very certain the Young Wolf is the hype to many… This Leviathan Eater is a statistic waiting to be added to our list of feats…

I don’t want Kelgorath to just disappear. I want Bungie to fully embrace his role as a gravity well in the sword logic that can’t be destroyed, and i want them to make him a genuine threat.

In my head, Kelgorath built himself a little throne world anchored in the Hellmouth and the reason he can't be killed is that he hasn't been killed in his throne world yet.

Well, he's never faced the light twice. 😈

I would think the Ammonite used the light from the gift mast to give them and their allies a kind of permanent Stat buff while also harvesting the light for infusion I to their weapons similar to how uldren took a chunk of the traveler and used it or similar to how the scorn could make paracausal bullets. They wouldn't need to be like Gaul since the light was given and they were chosen. They also wouldn't eat it like the hive. Mayhaps it just permeated their surroundings and benefitted them externally. Then the traveller came to us, got beat up, and said "enough, you deal with them, I'm gonna take a nap".

I’m more curious about Immaru’s hatred for us. It seems personal and beyond natural contempt. So it has me wondering what makes him so bitter to us? It’s more than what he tells us I suspect. He’s even been nasty long before resurrecting Savathûn.

There was some lore about that from back in Witch Queen, iirc it roughly boiled down to him believing Humanity took the Ghosts, and the Traveler, for granted and that without both of them their whole species would be extinct. That resentment was then ratcheted up into outright hatred when we started crushing Hive Ghosts en-masse.

The more I listen to Immaru, the more I think he is the Ghost equivalent of a bitter old man hating everything around him. As Eris said, he is not Savathûn and his insults/threats do not have the "you are dancing to my tune" aspect that Savathûn's lines had. As such, he sounds more like a bully than a dangerous mastermind.

That’s the gist of it

An Easy way to headcanon-fix the "narrative incongruance": The Lucent Hive arent pushovers. They were fighting off Xivu Araths Horde just like us. We found the last holdouts at the top of the Spire. Is this doing Xivu Araths work for her? No, because once Xivu Araths Horde gets there, so will 3 other Guardians. People are constantly running this activity. Also, i really thought that Leviathan-Eater, Bane of the Ammonites was Kelgorath at first, so im glad Byf could clear this up, that Leviathan-Eater, Bane of the Ammonites was indeed not Kelgorath.

iirc Kelgorath was originally a Knight in Savathun's brood but abandoned her during Season of Arrivals when she started interfering with The Witness' communications.

Xivu champion: (stares at wall back turned to us) Guardian: He's just standing there MENACINGLY!

I believe that the Traveler actually blessed the Ammonite with light powers rather than just harnessing the light to use weapons. Why? Because of the context that Witness gave us during the Sathona cutscene in Witch Queen. The Witness said that it wanted to claim the Krill before the Traveler was able to claim them first. Why the use of "claim"? If the Witness truly wanted to, it could have just Taken the entire planet, or at least the key forces of the Krill dynasties for itself, as, at the time, none of the Krill were capable of withstanding its influence because they were so meager. The Witness was afraid that it could lose a potential force to the Light. It doesn't really seem as if it was feasible to Take Lightbearers, which is why the Witness used The Hive as its proxies to destroy the Ammonite instead, otherwise, it could have just Taken the Ammonite instead. I believe that the Ammonite were indeed actual Lightbearers through sheer connection to the Traveler and its blessing, whereas we humans were forcefully given the Light because it was a last ditch effort because there was not enough time to cultivate and invoke the Light into an entire civilization, thus sending the Traveler to sleep. It was only then, when we defeated the Heart of Darkness in the system when the the Traveler began to heal because it was a display of our power to prevail over Darkness, which encouraged the Traveler to arise from its slumber. Ghaul would then later coerce the Traveler out of its sleep once again out of desperation, but also proved that the Light could be channeled into anyone given the enough volume and time to cultivate it, much like how we can invoke Darkness without an external body like a Splinter.

There are two very large problems with your theory. The first is that the Witness very obviously CAN'T just Take whichever Lightless sap it feels like. Why is this obvious? Because there are non-Guardian NPCs around, notably including Caiatl and every single one of the Cabal wearing her colors. If the Witness could just Take whoever, Caiatl would be a shadow with a spotlight for a face in Torobatl's aftermath. Instead, she's a rallying figure for Cabal survivors throughout the known galaxy. The second problem is that we literally just switched over to Season of the Witch from Season of the Deep, and Sloane's situation showed very clearly that the Light does not make one immune to Taking.

Byf... So i was re-watching some of your videos, and i discovered something that might be interesting to bring up in your next video. Specifically, Cayde-6's will video with his audio-logs on who killed him. I recommend re-listing to his log to Eris Morn. For either he knew about eris wanting to transform into a hive god or she trusted him enough to tell him

I agree. It took a raid to kill Oryx, savathun has a scope to live thanks to her ghost, killing Xivu in a season or campaign wud be injustice. Especially the level of hype bungie was putting forward for her. My speculation is she would appear in final shape raid given that there are hives in pale heart location

I loved doing conjure, thinking it was just a regular aos mission like invoke and then getting jumpscared by the fucking leviathan eater lmfao Edit: also I kinda hope that once we actually have a showdown with Ir Uulxal it's difficult lol. I'd love to see how threatening he is also kinda being shown in the gameplay

When Eris said "Xivu Arath isnt the only Hige God of War" gave me "Weve woken the Hive" chills and also since mine was bugged i was really able to look at the leviathan eater and his design is awesome.

You are one of the few content creators who gets a like from me on every single video BEFORE I watch it. Your consistent high-quality, your obvious dedication towards a subject you find interesting, and top notch writing/narration make yours one of the best channels on the platform, and you have not once disappointed me. I really like when voiced characters acknowledge non-voiced villains. It'd be nice to have better villains in seasons that we actually fight, but I get that's probably a problem for Episodes to be more equipped to tackle, theoretically. Having simple acknowledgements of villains like with Xivu acknowledging Kelgorath and now the Leviathan Eater, or Eramis with Praksis in Seraph really goes a long way to help make these unqiue looking bosses feel important outside the lore.

Based on the Hive I'm 99% sure her Transformation will change, or at least should, as she gets stronger. All 3 of the original Hive Gods went through multiple metamorphosis' over their thousands of years alive gaining power. So I would assume that Eris will go through a second Metamorphosis amd become much larger later in the season or possibly next season.

The main advantage is that we wield the Light and Darkness. That's what makes us significantly more powerful

I want the final battle for us to have him tearing our light from us, and just prior to a final blow, after putting us through several resurrections, on the ground broken and beaten, the last strike will be Eris appearing in her Hive-God form and rending him apart with her newfound strength of all our tithes. In my 1st playthrough with my hunter, he'd look at me for a few seconds then walk to the wall, stop, then teleport to the center and repeat it. Oh and the knights were strangely weak.

U can only imagine my surprise when it had a unique model that looks it had effort. Love it! Only time I can remember something on par was with quria.

That's wild, I had the new boss on my solo run, and then again when I ran with my regualr fireteam. That's super unfortunate!

I absolutely loved the dialogue of the bait stars and the chroma-admiral. However incorrect the books of sorrow may be, I still love ‘em.

I love the idea of having such a large health pool and endless attacks but I pray that the challenge in fighting doesn’t come from not enough ammo. I’ve been struggling the double special need to get heavy ammo and this mission with him was the hardest because of that ammo drought

Seeing how this season is going, i wonder when we will face Xivu. Final shape feels like a focused Witness hunt, and Xivu as a dungeon boss feels off for some reason

I think a fair detail too remember is how gifts of dark and light manifest uniquely in locations. We obviously have ghost but fallen recieved the entirely different so the range in gifts is truly unknown

Making the game put you in the new boss within a matchmade activity would be a pain, because you’d end up fighting that boss disproportionately often. Remember back when they made the Taken Meatball spawn more often for people who didn’t own Malfeasence? That was all we fought in Gambit for a month straight!

Im a little confused by this dialogue and lore now. Did bungie forget that in VoD that Rhulk was the one who killed the leviathan. Its a whole line of dialogue that he speaks so how did both the light eater and rhulk kill him if they werent present at the same time?

Rhulk only actually injured the Leviathan, he took out one of its ribs (I think?), once the krill became the hive they ventured out to where the ammonites were (a moon of fundament), and where the Leviathan had hidden

I imagine Rhulk would have had the entire thing on display if he killed it instead of just one rib.

It would be cool if when we go into the traveler for the final shape we see some aspects of these other civilizations it touched not just spots from our past
