Destination Unknown by Agatha Christie | Audiobook | Rewrite Book in Simple for Learning English
A number of leading scientists disappear without a trace. There is a huge possibility of kidnapping. Probably the scientists are being blackmailed so they are hiding. Enormous concern is growing in the ranks of the international intelligence community. Only one woman has the key to this mystery. Unfortunately, Mrs. Betterton lies on the hospital bed, dying from injuries sustained in the Moroccan plane crash. At the same time, Hilary Craven is preparing to end her own life in a hotel room in Casablanca. Her husband left her and her child passed away. There is no reason to live anymore. An overdose of sleeping pills and everything will come to the end. One stranger interrupts this desperate suicide attempt. Since there is nothing more to lose, this man offers Hilary a more exciting way to die.

Ages since I read Plato's Republic, but as I recall the guardians owned no individual private property. I don't remember if the guardians were happy, or if at least their community was designed with the purpose of them being happy . 😅

Christie wrote very short books on crime. That's why they are often used by English learners! If you can't cope with such short books, Janet and John might better fit your attention span. After that series, you should try to build up to Enid Blyton!

Actually Christie wrote all her books, however long after her death, in 2013 Sophie Hannah did write a selection of stories under the Agatha Christie name with permission from the family 🤗

I find Christie's cold war stories much less interesting and fun than her earlier mysteries. A romantic at heart she can't resist inserting a love story. The dénouement is at a very personal level - money, disappointed love or ambition in a single individual. This is true of the The Man in the Brown Suit story as well as The Big Three for instance. These themes are a better fit in malice domestic.

This was excellent. I have enjoyed ALL of Mrs. Christie’s work. I was lucky enough to see a performance of “The Mouse Trap” as well. Many people are only used to the Marple, Poirot and The partners in crime books. This was thoroughly enjoyable, especially the change from the usual stories. I’ve also enjoyed her books written under her pen name Mary Westmacott romantic stories. Thank you so much for this great treat! ❤❤
