Designer Unboxing: Melin Trenches and A Game Hats

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Big thanks to Bobby Berk for rocking these Melin Hats on this season of Queer Eye which is how I found out about them. I love all of the details that went into the packaging, branding, and hats themselves. This version of the A Game is water resistant and this version of the Trenches is water resident and thermal insulated... great for the long wet Portland Oregon winter! I was also surprised by the "Besom Pocket" inside of the crown... it is about 1" by 2.5" so you can imagine you might be able to hide in there :-)

Michael thank you so much for taking the time to review your melin unboxing. Very cool that you did both one of our Hydro (Built for the water) hats as well as our Thermal (Built for the cold) hats. Just a few more call outs; The sublimated interior art driven lining is moisture wicking and designed to pull the perspiration from the body and the venting then dries it out for a mini hat ecosystem. The sweatband on each hat also has technical benefits; on Hydro it’s a moisture wicking antimicrobial property to reduce the potential build up on your oily skin which can result in acne over time. The sweatband on the thermal hat is coffee charcoal infused for insulating/temperature regulation to help keep you warm and also has antimicrobial properties to reduce bacterial build up. Both hats have a PFC free DWR treatment to resist external weather from penetrating the fabrics. Our outer carton packaging is also completely recycled and recyclable corrugate so we are big on climbing trees and not cutting them down and the fogged bags each hat comes in is completely compostable. Really glad you enjoyed. Bobby found the brand on his own. We couldn’t be more grateful for his support. Love your channel and thanks again for the thoughtful review.

Brian, thank you for making awesome product. As an industrial designer I really appreciate all of these details, and I understand that they impact time to market to get them right and ultimately the BOM cost… and they make a huge difference. After a few months of wearing these hats in chilly rainy Portland I have recommended them to so many people. The Thermal hat is pretty astounding honestly. When I take it off after a rainy long walk I’m amazed at how warm and dry my noggin is! I’ll keep telling people to buy these hats, you keep making them! (Also the box was so well designed I kept it as reference). Keep up the great work! - Michael

I just ordered a trenches hydro hat. The seal logo under the bill serves a function as well. It's a place for your thumb when you take your hat off and put it on. It's to minimize oil or dirt from your thumb to help keep the underside of your bill from getting grimey. I got the hydro because I sweat heavily and all of my hats are ruined by sweat stains. The hydro hats can easily be rinsed and they look pretty much new after cleaning with dish soap and warm water.

Great review! Love all the details on the hats that only it’s user would know about. It’s like the hat and user are sharing secrets.

One of my mentors used to call things like that "a wink and a smile"... little things just for the user. I wasn't expecting that pocket!

@@MichaelDiTullo Yes, I've already watched what you have, but it's still not what you have on the wall, that is, those that are on the wall there are very interesting works, I thought maybe you have some other videos.
