I am a practicing engineer. Just stumbled upon this video while looking for something else but after watching it I could not resist to appreciate your efforts and side by side a suggestion that we do not calculate figures upto 4 digits in civil & structural engineering. You just round them off by either single digit or by two beyond the decimal that to only if charts/table in code are following one or two digits. Reinforcement is never calculated in decimals. So all good just take care of these small but important aspects. Cheers

Really happy as a practicing engineer you are appreciating my efforts, Yes Sharad we as a structural engineers we round it off to next higher numbers, but academically wat happens there is a tendency of a paper valuator to see the answers given in scheme and checking the answers, most of the teachers don't do round off, that is why i have shown like that, but thanks for commenting and giving feedback, thanks a lot for watching, keep sharing content who are studying civil engineering.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful lecture But I have one small doubt , I think modular ratio is a property that is dependent on the strength of material to bear stress, so i think it is 1 divided by __MR = str(cncrt)/240__ Also neutral axis is dependent on the steel so i think it is 1 - ( STR (ST) / MR * STR (CONCRT))

Hello, there is no crank bars...? My case = the beam size is 12"x20". Span is 18ft. I have option from my engineer = 2xD12 in top layer from left column to right column (whole lenght) and 2x D18 in bottom layer from left column to right column (also whole lenght). I would like to add some additional bars. My proposal is to add 1xD12 in top layer + 1xD18 (or 2xD16) in bottom layer. Question is ....How long should the additional reinforcement be? From left column to right column - also whole lenght like main bars? Or it must be L/4 for additional bars in top layer and L/2 in bottom layer? Thanks
